RE: WD40 as after run oil?
One airline I worked for issued a letter that ' WD-40 is NOT to be considered a lubricant as it contains over 90% alcohol.' It is as much a lubricant as water is a lubricant. I use Corrosion Block on my engines.

RE: So I guess you need 2 fire extinguishers??
Like mick25 said he had it UPSIDE DOWN. He appearred to panic like some else mentioned. He must have thought it was an old type H2O extinguisher. It seems that most people on here need to read the instructions on their extinguisher and /or take some fire fighting training. Also there seemed to be no responce from anyone other than the model owner for a very long time. During a jet event like that there should be firemen standing by at both ends of the runway ready to respond in a timely manner. Like someone else said an ABC dry chemical would do, but dry chemical makes a real mess.

RE: Sachs Engine Factory Location
ORIGINAL: pe reivers for those not fluid in German: Starten = to start Leerlauf = idle Vollast = full throttle Interesting: The idle bores have two functions: provide fuel, AND mix air into the fuel to lean out the idle micture as the valve closes. The idle jets work ALL THE TIME, so full throttle is influenced by idle needle setting The main jet only works from a certain throttle opening onwards, so it will not influence idle running.
Thanks very much for the info and the link pe reivers . By any chance could you translate this for us > Teillast = ?

RE: Quadra 42 gas engineCarb tips needed
Hi ; I have a Quadra 42 ina 1/3 scale Cub that had the same problem drawing fuel. It turned out to be the diaphragm. It was so hard to get it to start the first time even priming directly into the carb. I know the older Walbro carbs can't take the new fuels with methanol content. aparently the new carbs can handle some methanol. I now run Shell premium gas with NO methanol. I was running regular Petrocan gas.

RE: Tail pipe help
Hi ; In my opinion you have had an overtemp situation ; IE: hot start or tailcone fire. Since you said the integrity of the tailcone is still there you could probably fly it with not problem but will most likely have a reduced thrust rating. I would also suggest monitoring it after every flight or run while ordering a new tailcone. Good luck.

RE: Walbro, shame on you!
Most companies in the past couple of decades have switched from QUALITY CONTROL to the cheaper to run QUALITY ASSURANCE. RISK MANAGEMENT. The consumer loses again. I have read there are some Chinese knock offs of the WALBRO carb out there. As always but more today than ever it is BUYER BEWARE . Also an old adage comes to mind " you get what you pay for ".

RE: How to choke an Evolution 26 inside a cowling??
Hi; Try putting your finger over the exhaust when you prime it or make carb plug on a rod that your ground crew can hold over the carb while you prime the engine. I have the same problem with my 1/3rd Cub and I now use a primer bottle which is made in England but I bought it at Toledo. It has a nice small shut off valve on the end of the nozzle. Good luck..

RE: Fuel proof clear coat over Krylon
If assume you are talking about nitro fuel. I tested some automotive truck clear coat spray paint over some blue enamel paint with 10 % nitro. I let it dry overnight and then put a drop of 10% on it for an hour. It took the shine off it, but no colour came off on the paper towel. I bought it from Canadian Tire.

RE: F2H2 Banshee Flying Model, do they exist?
That is great that you are building a kit of the Banshee. It is kind of big for most guys though. I always thought it would make a good flying model with its' straight wing. I actually suggested it to Larry Wolfe of Jet Hangar Hobbies but he thought it would not be popular enough to make it sell. I took many picture of one in the Canadian Naval Museum in Calgary , Alberta, CANADA The RCN flew the Banshees off the HMCS Boniventure. I would like to build a Banshee jet model as well some day. I can't wait to see your Banshee fly.

RE: AVRO ARROW
JETSET ; I believe you can still buy a .90 size ducted fan ARROW kit from Bob Parkinson. Too bad we could not get kits of the AVRO CANADA CF-100 ( First production straight wing jet fighter to break the speed of sound) and the AVRO CANADA JETLINER ( 1949 -Worlds first midrange jetliner and FIRST jetliner to fly in North America; and FIRST to fly airmail by jetliner from Toronto, Ontario ,CANADA TO New York City , New York, USA ) Also the Jetliner was the world's first jetliner to fly a complete curcuit. ( the Comet lifted off and then set down on the same runway) The AVRO CANADA Jetliner eventually resurfaced as the Boing 737 !

RE: Anyone Heard of Air Power Technologies Engines?
The Taurus web site shows only one inline twin - 107cc ( 6.6ci) Now that would haul your Tempest real well. [:D] To bad DL or one of those many other "off shore " engine manufacturers did not make some inline twins for our big Warbirds. [8|] It is like Dave Platt said on his videos; the engine manufacturers are not making engines for the scale modeler that fit inside the cowling. [sm=confused.gif]

Ok I received my Spring issue a few days ago. I see all the pictures are now in colour. Fantastic ! As well the address label is on the back cover and NOT covering some nice model picture on the Cover ! I'm with "daleflysrc" on the need for a plastic sleeve. Especailly in this climate of snow and rain and the rough treatment by the post office. Keep the good changes coming.

RE: Coleman Camper fuel
Coleman fuel is similar to Naptha gas. Naptha is cheaper to buy than Coleman fuel. My Dad used to buy Naptha decades ago for our Coleman stove & lantern , until he found out cheaper auto gas would work in them. It was harder to light though.
