RE: US JET WORLD MASTERS
ORIGINAL: Dylan roberts competition models team South Africa suffered damage to every plane. Mark's vampire is folded in half a few times, my vamp has damage to most controll surfaces and Francois' Hawk is i little bit like a beach ball.
Very sorry to hear Dylan. It sure hasn't been easy going for jets and SA lately. [:(] [:(] Hope you guys can salvage something yet, even if just good memories and great new friends! At least we know any world comp and the USA is full of great people. Our thoughts are with you guys.

RE: Why you love the OMP Fusion?
I dunno about the OS on a Fusion hey? It doesn't have alot of grunt, perfect motor otherwise but the power is just not that great.

RE: CA Models Funky or OMP Yak 47" ?
Just like Daniel I can't comment on the Funky. Never seen owned anything. But yes I do have extensive experience with the Yak. Second to my Fusion .90, it's the best bird in my fleet. Sure I only have 27 aeroplanes.

RE: Stolen fuel tank mount idea.
ORIGINAL: AFSalmon Now I wish I could find a cheap source for bulk silicone tubing! LOL
My advice? Go to the source, and that's definitely nowhere near in the hobby industry. Think medical silicone supply and manufacturing companies. There will definitely be guys in the states manufacturing tubing and all sorts of interesting extrusions from top quality silicone for medical use. That's how I got the right size tubing manufactured for my helicopters, you buy a small pile of tubing sure but at the price you'll be smiling all the way.

RE: Stolen fuel tank mount idea.
I've been contemplating alternatives myself Mike. The profiles are completely maintanance free except for the silly rubber bands that needs to replaced all too often. Would be nice to come up with a "permanent" fix for this one.

RE: Stolen fuel tank mount idea.
Welll..uhmmm...see...technically you are all wrong. Bwhahaha. I use little brass self tapping hooks on all my kit profiles, so there's nothing sticking out the opposite end of the fuselage. Been doing that since the first profile I built (It was a Fazer btw.) back in 1995. :D :D Now the ARF's have been a different story, there I did the wire bending thing yes after I realised the cable ties suck downright.

RE: Carden Profile
I dunno, depending largely on the plane of course, 30% back from the leading edge is already going towards "tail heavy" from my experience. I mean sure we push the profiles back sometimes to even around 37% but they do have a mind of their own then on the elevator in most normal flying attitudes. I've pushed thermal duration gliders back to 45% and it works a treat on a plane that designed for it but I wouldn't dare try that on a scale glider. Sooooo anyways yes in my opinion 27% back from the leading edge should be a better bet for most aerobatic or sport models. 25% is moving into dangerous ground again where the elevator might start becoming a little unresponsive. Go up to 30%~33% is get ready to work it on the landing. 27~28% is my safe zone for maiden flights, fine tune after that first landing again. [:)]

RE: OS FX .46
Yup running two of them with tower mufflers on profiles. Great little motor, love em. Really got nothing bad to say about them to be honest, they don't make the power my .50SX does but the difference is minute.

RE: Why you love the OMP Fusion?
Wouldn't it be easier to just cut a small hole in the covering so one can re-glue the stopper in place and just patch up the hole afterwards?

RE: Which profile 3D to start with??
Oooh ok. Thought it might have been something silly like our customs charging 20% import duties and nonsense when they feel like it the day. Alright no if push comes to shove I guess NZ is still an option to try and stay alive in. Hahaha

RE: Which profile 3D to start with??
Why's that X-Jet? Something with customs or something having a problem? My brother's moving to NZ in about a month or so, he's hinted for me to go with but if I'm going to be stuck without OMP birds I'll face the magic right here rather. LOL

RE: So hows about a ProYak build?
Dankie! [:D] Yaa stupid wind, always blowing when you want to compete in a competition or make a video huh? I lucked out timing the one torque roll alright so we could hit a wind "break" to get it half decent. But the slight rocking in the harriers and dodgy little recovery from the knife edge turn around in the beginning of the video was all Mr Wind's fault. Inverted harriers with this bird? Walk in the park me reckons yeh! Hehehe. On the topic of practise, the eggbeaters have been keeping my too occupied for my tastes. But the little Yak is so convenient to squeeze inbetween everything else in the car so I'm sure I'll get the thumbs loose again on my fix wing flying. This past weekend we had an F3C heli comp so I got some fun flying time lying ahead again. Good chance to get working on my 3D skills again.

RE: Looking for a big Profile
I'd definitely look at the big Fusion. The 2.20 should work like a charm in that! I can't say that I have much love for the BGX's due to their weight and ridiculous fuel consumption but ok it'll probably also work just fine.

Tadaaaaaaaaa! Managed to get the FTP going last night, with great effort I might add. 19MB more or less, I'll advise to right click and save as. http://www.spaceyrc.com/Videos/SpaceyProYak1.wmv Still not the greatest quality for the size but I reckon it'll do just dandy. [:D] Oh and it's nothing special, usual CJ stuff coming from me. LOL

Bump! [:D] [:D] Hey everyone! I finally 'think' I managed to get someting figured out with the video. I had some major issues with the compression and gave up for a little while, last night I got some good results again. Going to try and upload it within the next few days.

Why don't you go post your question in their support forums? http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_261/tt.htm I may be wrong but I reckon you might be better off just importing the kit you need from them direct.

RE: Why you love the OMP Fusion?
Yes soft mounting the four strokes on the profiles have been discussed in length and it can be done with success. I myself aren't so sure if that's going to make the world of difference though as you still have a form of hard mounting in the bolts. See you can't make the link between the motor and the fuselage a vibration isolator as such, there will always be a hard link so why most reckon it's just not worth it. Don't worry about the Saito on the Fusion though, just ensure you get a light prop on it, balance things very well and get some decent foam between the tank and the fuselage. It'll be fine if you take the basic precautions trust me! Now as for the Yak compared to the Fusion. Yak's a full on 3D plane, down on the deck and wild fun fly style flying. Fusion can also 3D with the best but a little more precision bird also, jack of all trades sort of thing but from the owners who has Fusions they'll all attest the part of that saying that it's a master of none does not apply. It's a great bird all round.
