ORIGINAL: flyer1966 What happens when you add a extra head gasket to the motor.
You reduce the compression of the combustion chamber so it can handle better the high nitro content.

RE: Master K vs APC
Some weeks ago I ordered a couple of these props. http://www.espritmodel.com/aeronaut-propellers-cam-electric-glow.aspx Im still waiting for it , the guys of support tell me they are tested up to 30,000 RPM ( 9" and 10" size) according to they are made of carbon fiber , have some of you tested one of these props ??? I ordered these props because I need a prop that can handle 25,000 RPM and be safe in the size of 9"-10" , is a shame APC props dont make carbon fiber props in this range with high pitch, it seems they got forgotten the speed freaks , I bet there are enough guys willing to pay for this kind of props.

RE: Master K vs APC
I like more the performance of APC and so far I have had better results with them for speed , I have even modified the leading edge and airfoil of the APC props to increase the performance it tooks me about 2 hrs to do the job without spoil the prop and without leave it too thin but after that its well rewarded what it makes once in the air. This props are stiff enough to allow do this work and end it up without flexing too much. Even stock both props I would take APC for almost every airplane at least you plan to do bad landings [:D] .

RE: 9x10 carbon props for speed freaks
I really dont know if are real the rpm he said , I want to think is true as he said the plane with this engine was clocked at 200 mph and even more when he changed the prop to a 9x8.5 . He also told me that everyone on the field keeps saying is going to blow the props apart but it hasn't happened yet and that he always stand behind the engine when reving it up on the ground. Im in the search of cf props anyway , just for in case you know. [:D]

RE: Doubting the speeds posted
ORIGINAL: MJD Doesn't matter. It strictly represents a geometric distance based on the pitch angle of the blade and the helical path it would scribe if rotated one revolution with no slippage. The possibility of getting close to this number in real life is dependent on aerodynamics (of the aircraft and the prop) and power. If it helps anyone, I recall my eyes opening and thinking ''aha!'' when I began to understand and visualize relative wind as it affects the prop's angle of attack. The angle of attack of the blades changes with airspeed and rpm, think about it. It's easier to first forget rpm change, just think about a prop moving along at ever increasing airspeed, constant rpm, and the angle of the relative wind. When that clicks, you'll suddenly appreciate better the significance of the term pitch speed and the issues surrounding it. This diagram ain't bad. Here, the prop shaft runs horizontally, and you are looking at an end on view of the prop blade, i.e. the engine is pointing to the right. So you can see how a high pitch prop can end up operating at the same angle of attack in flight as a low pitch prop - but it has to be moving faster to do so. MJD
I think I understand what you saying , anyway I still have some questions. Are you saying that if we have a "x" prop at "x" rpm working at 30,000 feet and -20°C it would behaves equal than at sea level and 40°C??? it would advance the same distance in both cases ??? does not matter the density of the mean in wich the prop is traveling ??? Lets suppose that we are talking just from a prop , so we dont have to consider the coefficient of drag of an airplane. Everything is in a good way bro . [;)] Thanks.

RE: Looking for suggestions
The Rossi should make the best job on speed , if you want to use a 11" prop , that would be a 11x6 , I did test 11x7 apc on mine and wasn't able to rev up as I wanted. Then you can go with 10x7 or 10x8 apc and would work well , then you can try a 9x8 , 9x9 or 9x10 and see what prop does the best job for you. Anyway , if the target is speed you can go just straight with the 9" prop and use the throttle as Daven said . Regards.

RE: TT .61 Pro full length Mac's Pipe
ORIGINAL: Mr67Stang The engine is very used. So yes, it is totally broke in. The piston is actually brown in color instead of the normal dull alluminium. I imagine it starts out kinda loose and does not completely seal until up to operating temperature.
Considering its very used and is developing 15k , I think I need to give a chance to this engine in the future. My Rossi 53 is able to develop just 500 rpm more with the same prop. Good job bro !!! [8D]
