ORIGINAL: Seamus OLeprosy I cant believe I'm the only one who had the two stroke throttle problem, anyway here is my solution, any way here is what I did.
Sorry about the late reply! [:@] I think a lot of folks had the same problem, just different solutions. I just bent the wire around the tank and then turned the arm to face the direction of the trust. Works perfect. Another solution is "Dubro Golden rods". They work on the same principle. In the photos the throttle settings are identical. The vector of force of are different at the servo but the same at the carb. SR

The things you should consider. 1. Do you love Thunder Tiger motors? 2. Are they ultra dependable? 3. Are they worth the extra weight? 4. You you want or need the extra HP? 5. Are they new? 6. Can you sell them and get what you want? Don't use them just because they came with the plane. Go with what you know and like on a twin. SR

Runs horrible in the air and usually ended in a dead stick and a damaged plane. It was the death of the brick of a plane I installed it in, the H9 Blue Nose P51. Two complete let downs in one package! The two together weighed in at about 14 pounds. YIKES!! I love Saito glow engines and am a true believer in them. I have four of them on my B-17 and have never had an engine out. In fact, my B-17 is on Horizons web site boasting her Saito 62's in their "Ratings and Reviews" section for the Saito FA62. I'm looking forward to getting it back to see what happens. I have a WingSpan 1/9th Scale B-17G nearing completion. Four FG-20s would sound better than an other combo I've ever heard, but I have to have a very dependable motor in a plane of that caliber. Fingers crossed! SR
ORIGINAL: djstar39 Well.... score one for PM! I decided to tear down the nacelles 'just to look around' and make sure everything looked good. The nylon bolts holding the nacelle to the wing were a little loose allowing the engine to move just a little bit laterally. But when I took out the starboard fuel tank to get to the nylon bolts, I noticed that the clunk in the tank seemed to be rolling all over. Pulled the stopper and indeed the fuel pickup clunk was loose inside the tank with the fuel line split at the end. Replaced the fuel tubing. Also noticed that the top engine mount bolts had started to gouge a little into the fuel tank (just enough to scratch it). Shortened those bolts The clunk off could have easily led to the dreaded engine out / death sprial and the loss of the plane. Just glad I found it before that. Not sure how you would ever know this occurred without tearing it down and looking. Keep doing the PM folks! Will lead to a long satisfying relationship with this bird. Only hope I can approach Speed's 400 flights!!! Dave
Ditto.......remember this? http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6494380/mpage_99/key_/tm.htm# Post 2466 SR

If so how much? Seems some maiden flights need a fair amount of elev. down trim. Thanks!
I added about an 1/8" down elevator to mine. Ill take a photo tomorrow. I too added quite a bit of right aileron. I took it out an mixed right rudder with my engines throttle. Flys much better when landing and at high speed. At landing I found that the right wing dropped and the plane tracked to the right because there was no engine torque. Its the engines yaw that your fighting not balance. That's rudder. At first I tried mixing the ailerons to the throttles. VERY BAD IDEAL!!!!! ALMOST CRASHED OVER AND OVER AGAIN before she got to the ground. If you try this, make sure to put it on a switch to be able to turn off the mixing at first to tune the mix. Its really nice once you find the sweet spot. SR

What Normand found out and it occured over time, the wing rod tubes going through the main fuse were e-longgating causing slop in the wing tube. Over one winter he broke his B-25 down and very carefully cut out the fiber glass tubes and replaced all the hard wood and reglued the fiberglass tube back into the airframe. If the outer wing panels are having the same problem, major surgery is called for to fix them to include the inner wing panels. Just my two cents, hope every body has had a Happy New year, in Southern Maryland it feels like spring instead of winter, we had snow yesterday but was to warm for it to stick.
Really? I flew a couple times this weekend. #3 motor was idleing a bit fast when I got to the field. I just reached in the nacelle from below and adjusted it. I went to fly again and it was at a different idle again. A little aggitated and adjusted it again and flew again. Great flights and nice landings. When I got home I wanted to find out what was up and looked at the motor again. It wouldnt start which was strange. I grabed the high end needle and I was loose? Wierd? Took off the cowling and was shocked to find the carborator was completely off the engine. I have no idea how it was running at the end of the flight. YIKES!!!!! She is pulled from the rotation until all of the nacelles have been rebuilt. I was way past due for a tear down. SR
ORIGINAL: Far_high PS: Speaking of your flying skill... I agree with Lifer....you have great one! Cheer! Far_High
Thank you both. I wish it was flying skills that kept her flying. I really dont think it is. Anyone can fly this plane. I think it has been blown way out of matter of fact. I crashed my first one on her maiden. Totally my fault. If you set this plane up correctly, and do maintenace on her AND make sure she is completely ready to fly every time......... She will last a very long time. All of my 400+ flights and one flame out. My muffler came loose and sheared off my pressure line. I knew it was loose and flew anyway. Nasty death spin but made it out alive. Changed my fuel lines every season. Nacelle tear down and inspection every 25 flights. I was obsessed with her being perfect before every flight or she didnt fly. She is just a big plane. Not that big tho. I do not have a bunch of complicated stuff on board. In my humble opinion, I would avoid all of it. Make her a big Cessna. Keep it simple and be insistant on perfection. Especially the motors. A lot of the guys here have experience with that stuff and its not a new part of a new plane. If you havent done it before, dont do it on this plane. Test it somewhere else and maybe add it here later. I have thought of placing all of the gadgets on my plane at some time or another. I did put glow drivers and a synchronizer on my B-17. Lasted about a week and I took them all off. She is in line for a strip down. I want to see exactly what the issue is and see if I can fix it. I have another plane on the table right now that has all of the 12' work table taken up.[:D] Cheers. SR

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)
Took her out today at a new air field. Like she used to, she draws a crowd again. She had lost all respect at my old field. Nasty 20 mph wind straight down the runway with no gusts. Flight was great and landed at 1/2 throttle no flaps moving in slow motion. Crazy stuff. In her post flight check I noticed her wings are loose. Then I noticed her fusalage is weakening. Granted she has way over 400 or 500 flights on her but I think shes wearing out. She needs another set of tires again too. 5th or 6th set so far. I've been way rough on her in the air but the landings have always been gentle. Never crashed either. This is a new situation for me. Ive never retired a plane before. I think shes done flying. [&o] I just dont think I could handle watching her have a structural failure and drilling into the ground. I've had quite a few people tell me she loves me and I think she does too. Shes always received a rub and a pat on the back after every flight. Feels wrong not to let a plane fly. I'm going to have to decommission her. [:(] Its a sad day. SR
