RE: Giant Scale Twins F7F Tigercat
Oh Yea.... I will be sticking my head in on this one....!!! If Ray is in the building mix... I have to at least get still shots of this....!!! I've left about a pickup load of old foamy beer coolers outside of his garage over the years... and still... not one A6M5 Zero....??? If Ray is in the mix... I will be there...!!! I'll find out then.... which, what... bird....???? Noah... get in on this...!!! -Stan

Lyle... My 'Geezer' brain sometimes get the dates wrong... so it was either last year or two years ago at the TRAMPS Muskogee's Oklahoma Jumbo (or Warbirds over Green Country) at Hatbox Field... that I captured you bringing in a one fine built B-25 on ONE engine with about a 20 degree West crosswind @ 15 mph...!!! That was some dang fine flying my friend....!!!! You are a rudder man plus. I watched that footage for the next 2 weeks...!!! Great job...!!! -Stan www.oksoonersquadron.org/ =====================
ORIGINAL: WARBIRDRCER You are not going to believe this! [X(] The long range weather forecast for May 17-19,2013’s Warbirds Over Oklahoma invasion is mild temps, calm winds, and a slight shade of clouds[8D], so plan to be there[:D]. To keep up on the latest go to: www.warbirdsoverok.org Stan,I may see you at the Sooner Squad Sunday.
And you got this from who.... Nostrodamus....??? Really... you 'may' see me at the Jumbo at OKSS... on Sunday... after all the seasons the OKSS has shown up for WBOOK...!!!! Just kidding... I figured since you now had cubicle in FAA DC... you would be hard pressed to be home at any given time during the season anyway. In a nutshell... Thanks for inviting Noah down for WBOOK 2012. Just hooking him up with Ray was worth the all the wind blast we had on Friday and Saturday. He's just a really good 'fit' for several clubs down in Okieland. He's one of the 'good ones'.... Oh... did I say that out loud....??? -Stan =====================================================================================

RE: Giant Scale Twins F7F Tigercat
Noah... No biggie on the last name... in fact, I'm not sure I even gave it to you last weekend...?? If I didn't... real dang close on guessing what it should be...!! Was tooting my own horn with the 'Video King' comment... that was supposed to be in the vein of 'humor'... more or less. But after years of trying to get this hobby captured on cam... believe me... it is one hard subject to shoot. I really appreciate the comments on how they like my 'short style' of how I edit the footage. Early on... I was as bad as some of the long winded versions I still see up here today. After hours and hours of viewing and editing them... it was just plain boring. I love the takeoff and I love a great 'greased' landing... with some photo passes thrown in the middle. The good (or bad of this...??) I rarely ever catch a 'oops' moment or a 'auger in' shot... which is one of those bittersweet things depending on how you look at it...?? I personally hate it when a really fine build goes in. Always have. My pleasure... is being at an event where I get to see (and hopefully capture) really great builds and fine flying. And especially new planes that haven't been seen in our area before. Your TBM Avenger and the GS TigerCat really made the WBOOK 2012 for several of us. And getting an almost perfect 3 or 4 hour flying window at the OKSS field Sunday afternoon... made it all worth the wind blast we had endured for the two previous days. While Iowa City is going to really miss you... the Okie bunch will be more than happy to try and make you feel at home. But... I think you already know that after this weekend. -Stan

RE: Giant Scale Twins F7F Tigercat
Noah.... Just to get the record straight... it's Stan Pritchard of the OKSS club. The Video King of Oklahoma R/C...!!! No matter... you are exactly right... having two GS TigerCats in the same region will blow them away at the R/C events in our OK area this season. But... the only hold up for a dual TigerCat show... might be Ray's wife... she just went through some major back surgery... and he may well have to hang close to the home campfire for several weeks this season. That is a major bummer... but Jane is such a good trooper... she might kick him out of the house anyway. Ray will not fly in front of a crowd... which, for all the years I have been with OKSS, has always had me scratchin' my head. He is a hell of a stick... just not in front of a crowd....??? Jim Ellis generally flies his birds in that situation. That video you had linked to in this thread, showing his TigerCat... and the way he flew it... was just Ray, me... and my cam. He is a great R/C pilot... it just kills me that he doesn't know that. -Stan www.oksoonersquadron.org/

Terry... No problem... that sucker was fast enough to make me work for the shots...!!! Don't know what you have on the drawing board for the next FW-190 version... but I can make no promises that I can follow it with the cam...!!! This little devil was a speed demon with only a DA 50 under the hood...!!! Great flying... and I love making you guys Movie Stars up here...!!! You deserve it...!!! RE: Whos going to Warbirds Over Tulsa?
To the TGD's WBOTUL-2011... Thank you to the TGD's for another great Warbird weekend at Tulsa in 2011. Only the second one... and it's already making a name in the area. Freddie, Terry, Chris, Claude, Jerry, Randall, Jay, Jim and Tim ... and all the rest of the great gang at Tulsa Glue Dobbers for a really, really needed weekend of good weather, good friends and GREAT flying...!!! The field looked absolutely great and the pit row setup was perfect. I personally saw the Stillwater, TRAMPS, Bare Hill Gentleman's Club, North Dallas R/C Club, OK Sooner Squadron, the Enid SPADS, Bartlesville Falcons, Ponca City GOOFS (and probably some I missed) Clubs in attendance. I know some Arkansas boys attended as well. IOW.... It was one Great turn out...!!! You boys did yourself proud. And that presentation to Grant was something I was proud to attend. That was class....!!! He is, and will always be, one of our area's finest R/C Gentleman. BTW... Thanks Jim for that low-pass, fly-by this morning in your ultra-light with the siren going.... woke my butt up for sure...!!! :) -Stan OK Sooner Squadron - We only had 11 Yellow shirts show up - sorry for that....!!! We'll try to do better... :)

RE: Whos going to Warbirds Over Tulsa?
Terry... and Gary... Glad to hear we are going to hook up with both of you this weekend...!!! Was hoping to hear Charles, Woody and Ed might be making the trip as well. I really don't know what the temps have been down in the NDRCC area... but it has been an oven up here... IOW... a 'Geezer Killer' summer and we have all been hiding under the AC for the last 2+ months up here. That really sucked...!!! If the wild fires were not trying to kill us... the heat was. Bill has really been bustin' it trying to finish up on his Neiuport 17 and it may make the trip as a 'static' anyway. I know 'Beautiful Doll' is coming... but don't know about the C-ARF Corsair...??? Surely he will bring it. Jim has the Sopwith Pup dialed in and it will be there along with 'Okie Kid' I'm sure. I could see your 'Miss Plainfield' and the Spit... but what was that over the blue cooler in the photo...?? Wait to you see what Bill/Sharon pull up in pulling their trailer. I could put a bullet between his eyes... but I kinda like him too much to do that. What really ticks me off... they are not even going to stay in it... they have rooms over at the 'Hard Rock' (I think...???). Heck... I'll stay in it and be security for the field at night as well. I am pumped about this one...!!! It's been a LONG, hot, dry summer and I have 'summer' cabin fever big time.... -Stan

RE: Whos going to Warbirds Over Tulsa?
You can put a head count of about 9+ of the OK Sooner Squadron on the 'show-up' list. The Yellow Shirts will be there with bells on...!!! Terry... Jim has talked to Freddie and they promised to hold a parking spot for the OKSS... but we are only taking 3 trailers at last count. Are you and Gary going to do a 'one' trailer run together... or both of your trailers...??? Trying to make sure we have trailer room. We should be in the same parking area as last season. IOW... go through gate... veer right. Jim, Bill, Richard and Slocum should be rolling out around 7:00 AM Friday morn... with the rest of us trailing in as we get there. Really ready for this one. Temps in the mid to low 80's... which is a cool front in OK for the last two months...!!! -Stan

The Okie boys had fun and I got to put some faces on some of the names I have been reading/hearing about for years. Some outstanding Warbird builds were everywhere you looked. That WildCat was absolutely beautiful..!! Terry... you and the NDRCC gang knocked it out of the park..!! Lots of new faces to meet... and new birds to check out. Terry... Glad to hear Jimmy and David have decided to make the trip. Maybe this year I will actually capture video of the nurf bombs being released from the Stukas. I've had two shots at it at WTWB... and it just didn't happen..?? I blame it all on Bryan. Just got a note from Charles Shafer... and he and Woody are coming up this weekend for our Jumbo. Since he is a old time member of the OKSS... we really look forward to seeing him and Woody. I did hear a rumor that Gary Mills might be considering it...??? But you know how rumors are. Bryan... you want R&R... Holland will make sure you WINGS West Texas boys will be getting all the R&R you can stand. He's already out shopping for inflatable dolls and rubber chickens that will keep you boys entertained. He said it really doesn't take a lot to keep you West Texas boys happy. Cheap dates... I think is how he phrased it. Look forward to seeing all you motley crew....!!! -Stan

RE: WARBIRDS OVER TEXAS (WBOTX)
Tires on the Corsair... or the trailer that hauls it around..?? We were invited to a static setup in Shawnee, OK yesterday for a 'Youth Aviation Adventure' program at the Gordon Cooper Aviation School campus. Bill had just done the 'fix' on the wing lock and had the wings folding and unfolding a couple of days before. Got to the hanger and something had happened to the pump, plunger (or something..??) and it wouldn't work for him. Along with wanting to hear that Moki run... I would like to see the wings fold and unfold. I'm sure Bill does as well. The cockpit canopy opening & closing is working as well as the running lights. Just a matter of time for the rest. Edwin... Personally I think that 5 jug Moki was made for a Stearman. It's just to dang good looking a motor to be hid under a cowl. Next time you see that Stearman owner... check and see if he had been told to start adding a fuel pump to his Moki...??? That had just come down from the Moki builders recently according to Bill. That and start lubing the exposed rockers with a certain kind of lube that is only found in Europe...?? -Stan RQ-11 Raven (drone camera platform) H9 Fokker D.VII

OK Guys.... Just checked the 'countdown script' that I have for the promo WBOTX banner at the OKSS Website... and we are down to 70 days left until showtime...!!! Man... you can smell it... it's that close...!!! Let's light a fire under this WBOTX 2011 thread and talk about the Warbirds that are planning on showing up until all the 'Cabin Fever' goes completely away...!!! BTW... Terry... Holland's Corsair is 'THIS CLOSE' to the Maiden....!!! As soon as the (now we need a) fuel pump, special lube for the external rockers... and couple of more items. I have waited forever to hear my very first 5 Jug Moki 250 in person. And Bill is my only hope. I'm getting old you know. -Stan OK Sooner Squadron www.oksoonersquadron.org

Hey Ed... I ran across some video up here about Terry and a P-40 that did a nose dive on him... it was at the North end of your field... but looked to be well inside the fence line. Makes one wonder if there was another P-40 adventure that involved the stock tank...?? BTW.... I stole the mud wrestling story from Bryan's posting on one of the Warbird blogs from last season. That's two zingers I've sent his way and he's ignored both of them. I guess I'll leave him alone for awhile. -Stan

RE: WARBIRDS OVER TEXAS (WBOTX)
Terry.... The March meeting of the OK Sooner Squadron ended tonight with our getting set-up for our 27th Annual Jumbo Fun-Fly the first weekend in June... and then we moved into the rest of the June schedule after our event. Needless to say... the WBOTX subject came up and it looks like we need to put our hats in the ring for space from the second gate into the field to the sunshade cover. I mean it looks like the WHOLE crew is making plans for this one...!!! For a measuring stick... you only got about a 1/4 of the crew for the Scale last season (ask Gary, Charles or Ed). I guess having a two man PR team up here in OkieLand for WBOTX 2011 (me, Bill & Jim - no charge BTW) might have them pumped just a tad. So... put your sunglasses on... get ready to have Yellow Shirts all over your place...!!! On a serious note... we DO look forward to this one. Beside that... you will need the OKSS gang to keep those Lubbock boys under control. They have been known to drag out the wading pool and have a mud wrestling contest in a matter of minutes...!!! That is NOT a pretty sight...!!! Sometimes you can't take them anywhere. Our secret... we used air rifles with Elephant trank darts to keep them at bay. McLarty being the worst of the bunch with more trank dart holes than anyone in history. -Stan OK Sooner Squadron www.oksoonersquadron.org

RE: WARBIRDS OVER TEXAS (WBOTX)
ORIGINAL: tfarmer96 Not to mention the multi state event toure i went on to let everyone i could know face to face.
I can testify to the 'face to face' tour at Eureka Springs and Tulsa last year. And (I'm pretty sure) talking about it at WBOOK last year as well as WBOTR I would imagine. Then he toured South Texas getting the word out. He left few (if any) stones un-turned. Terry is a one man PR machine...!! Bryan... you're right... I'm excited. But right now... I would settle for one day with the wind not blowing 25/30+ around here and stop the 25 to 40 degree swings in temps each day. Just to be at the field on a decent day would help with my rampant cabin fever..!! And I speak for the entire OKSS gang. -Stan OK Sooner Squadron www.oksoonersquadron.org

RE: WARBIRDS OVER TEXAS (WBOTX)
Bryan... I totally agree... 5 hours is, by gosh, 5 hours..!! While Mac's is a fine gathering and he is one stand-up Gentleman... I think Terry, Gary, Ed and Charles and their gang is putting one together that will set a standard for the South. Let me re-phrase that... ALONG with the WINGS 'West Texas Warbirds' in Lubbock that you guys put on last year..!! The Dist. VIII Southern Clubs are making a mark in the sand to let Mac, Delaware, Denver and the Rockies boys know we have come of age. Yard-Dart... whatever you want to invest in travel time... I assure you that the WBOTX and the WTWB are two events to keep in mind for the next several seasons. While this is WBOTX 1st annual gathering... I've seen what they can do with a Scale event last season... and their crew does it right. Good guys... good set-ups... and just a good friendly atmosphere for pilots. They treat their pilots with respect... and keep the crowd happy... but contained. I really looked forward to this WarBirds gathering...!!! -Stan

Terry... I've seen Jimmy and David with the twin Stuka show the last two years at Wings West Texas Warbirds... and those Clovis, NM boys are worth the invite to WBOTX. Got video of them the last two years and watch it about every month during the ice and snow so the 'Cabin Fever' can be relieved somewhat. And that's not even counting Jimmy's B-24 show... which I'm sure you've seen at WBOTR a few times. Both are really good guys and fun to be around. Just ask Bryan... but you know that already. BTW... Miss Plainfield #2 looks really great. Thanks for the pics. You and Home Depot CAN paint...!!! Didn't get a follow up on the initial DA run-up. Must have been bulletproof. -Stan

Hey Bryan... You're right... watch out for those Okie boys... they may make you have a good time... even if you're ready for one or not. I think your WINGS crew will enjoy this one. Terry, Gary, Ed, Charles and the gang do things right. So... I have a feeling, no matter what the drive distance will be... this is one to mark on your calendar in ink (not pencil). It will be good to see you, Les, Tom and the rest of the gang. One warning though... they have these objects there that come up out of the ground that are called 'trees'. You Abernathy Aerodrome boys out in West Texas may not be familiar with them..?? Except for that one you have at your pit area... and I think that tree has been designated the state forest for that part of the West Texas isn't it..?? Just remember to fly over and around them... and you should be OK. ;) -Stan

Just tell them you're from Texas... all Colorado people just love Texans. How's the turn out for 'Warbirds over the Rockies' shaping up...?? Clyde... Ditto on the weather... but the forecast looks fairly good as of the 6:00PM News tonight. Only thing might be a small crosswind from the East. Keep fingers crossed...!! The head count as of this morning looks to be Jim/Calvin, Richard, Bill (Sharon has to work), Ray, Al and me. So there will be some Sooner Squad in the mix at Ponca City come Saturday morning. If Stewart isn't gonna' make it... maybe I can win something..!! That is if Don has a raffle... or a 50/50...?? Haven't heard. See you there... -Stan
