RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I have been reading and following this post carefully , especially on the landing of the Ultra flash. I am not looking for a fight here from any one just my observation and conclusion . I am speaking mainly about the comment from Dave and Ali and although both are expert Pilots and I respect them both , I have found that the landing that I saw Ali doing on You tube was not impressive as It looks like Ali want to hover in the Aircraft and Dave actually lands it at a comfortabe speed and very stable . From all the comments my conclusion( and I am no expert) is that the UF is better landed with some power and keeping the nose down until final flare . I have also seen David Shulman doing the same and many other successful landings of the UF by other pilots .In the manual I noticed that they are saying to keep the nose high , I beleive that if one keep the nose high and use too much elevator then one may experience the wing dropping and what some are calling a snap. I have also seen the landing of Thomas Singer and he also lands with some power and keeps the nose down . Guys I would like some comments on my observation and please let me know if I am correct and all comments are welcomed as long as I learn something from them. Thanks

Great opinions and thanks all for your help in clearing up what happened in that video. I can clearly see from what I heard what I need to do on my maidened flight , and I will follow the advice of the experts on this subject. Cheers

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Curious what happened there on landing , I will maiden mine in a few weeks . Is it possible that you had one flap extended more than the other , because it looked good until the incident? Any help would be appreciated so as not to have the same thing happen to me. From what I heard the uf is a good flying aircraft and does not snap . Could some one with experience shed some light on this incident. Thanks all

RE: Hobby King turbine!
Just my point . Education Education . The turbine governing body should force them to make and supply an instructional video with each sale.

RE: Hobby King turbine!
I have read most of the posts and I agree with some and I also disagree with some of the comments . I was involved with turbines from the beginning , and we had some rough days . No one has been killed so far and we were experementing with wood compressors to hand made turbines wheels and hand made cases .Today the technology has really advanced , and with todays CNC and CAD programs , one can buy a popular turbine and copy it part for part and make a great engine. I have seen many good popular turbines in the hands of inexperinced operators and they make a mess out of things and you know who gets the blame , Yes the turbine manufacturer. So it is not the turbine that will kill but the operators themselves who has no knowledge how these things work I have seen people trying to start an engine without the presence of a fire extenguisher and worse yet yelling and screaming that the thing does not work and they forgot to open the fuel valve, and many more stupid things. What I would really like to see is that everyone buying a turbine be given a course on how to operate . I know some would say it is impossible but It can be done in the name of safety . Let us all for respect for our hobby work towards safety and if there is a bad product out there at least we have the tools that in case something could happen we can defend our selves.. Thanks everyone and I am not supporting any one just my general comment .

RE: JR 9303 and spectrum ar9100
Hi K mac. Thanks again . Now I will explain the chain of events. Take off normal flying, around normal up until I activated the gear . By the way I was using an analog sevo for the gears ( not Electronic valves ). When I put the gear down they came down , but right after I loss power to the turbine , cause when I try to power up I had no engine. I cannot remember if I put the gear back up or they went in by them selves . My spotter said he saw them go back up. I forgot to check all of this after. This I have been doing for 77 flights , why would activating the gear cause such a problem . I felt like the fail safe kicked in but I am not too sure. It seems to like I had control up until the end when it fell to the ground , If I had a little more speed I would have saved it but our field is surrounded by farming land , and if I had landed it in the farmers field the damage would have been worse , so I took a chance and tried to get it back to the run way. I have been flying this airplane for 2 years without any problems at all , It really surprised me when this happened , I appreciate all your help and concerns. The reason for the radio not working at the field is something of a mystery , as someone who is JR knowledegeable was doing it and that is what he said , When I went home , all was good . You know this was all so strange as I had so much confidence in my set up the engine and the radio, and I was really enjoying my airplane . I had plans to retire it anyway as I was going to put the P80 In the Ultra flash . This made it easy I will try the deans test tonight and send you pm tomorrow. Cheers Paul

RE: JR 9303 and spectrum ar9100
Thanks . I am using dual A123 2300 , They were fully charged. I suspect more of a fluke than anything else . I checked everything yesterday started the turbine 3 times without any problems. I will look into the remote receivers maybe one of them greyed out or something happened that I could not replicate .If I would trust the system again , without a doubt because whatever happened seems to be very strange and in this hobby strange things are not new to us . Like I said , I am using the same set up in other jets and helis without any problems , so I do not want to spread any bad news about Jr and their product, I trust JR. Thanks

JR 9303 and spectrum ar9100
After 77 flawless flights in all conditions with my Boomerang sprint Jr 9303 and Ar9100 receiver I lost my jet yesterday. I had several flights on Saturday and this was my first flight of the day on Sunday morning . Every thing was ok . When I put the retract down The turbine shut off , the gears went back up and the aircraft glided back towards me . I thought I was going to be able to save it but apparently I had not radio control . I thought I had some until it fell on the nose . No fire and no equipment loss . Complete loss of the airframe . The wings and the stabs are in one piece . When I checked the radio after the incident nothing worked . However when I got home and replug it , every thing worked fine. My question to the jet community and to all Jr users , please try and explain what happened and what advice you have for me with my future Ultra flash I am building .I do not care so much about the aircraft , but I am concerned about using this type of equipment . I do not want to change from Jr , cause i like the radio and never had a problem up until yesterday , I also use the same set up on all of my Helis with no problems .Please guys I really need your advise , Is it possible to use use two receivers and a power box with JR? Thanks in advance Paul

RE: Modeler or ARfer?
I Agree with you , I have been flying jets and helis for newly 15 years , yet I have not built an airplane fron scratch, most were arfs or built by someone for me , yet I am flying and having fun . I seen really good builders but very poor flyers , You see after spending so many hours building they are afraid of something happening Just like the others I do not see the point in this discussion

RE: Turbine Jet Trainer- Is it necessary?
Here is my honest opinion on your question. You should start with something simple but still decent , but you are looking for an aircraft that is easy to handle hardware wise and flying as well . Jet flying is complicated , but not difficult. When I started i went with looks and fancy , after years of unsucess I had to start from the beginning with something simple . Now after over 65 flights last year without an incident I am now ready for fancy .Honestly listen to the other comments and please go the simple route unless you do not care how many times you crash while learning . You see every time one crashes it puts you back a few steps and if you back up too much it will affect your flying skills . I have seen experienced pilots buy a fancy jet and end up with a heap of problems all because they have not heeded good advice . Good luck and let us know how you are doing.
