RE: Electric Retracts for .60 Size Corsair?
Hi. Go to Hobby King and have a look. The price will knock you over. The cost for shipping + item is very reasonable. I have never had a problem with Hobby King, and have been purch from them for several years now. Just my 2 cents. Ken (Starfighter)

RE: Just got a byrons original cap 21
Hi, name is Ken (Starfighter). I have a lot of experience with Cap 21s, and I love them. They are very honest to control inputs, if you balance them at the exact point, or a little nose heavy. If you do not balance them correctly, they will exhibit the dreaded "Cap Snap". This only happens if the acft. is not balanced correctly, or if you employ excessive control throws. Really

RE: Gas/oil mixture for gas engines
Hi "spalumbo". Use at least 1/8" id (or any called "large") fuel line. High quality Tygon is best, but the modeling stuff is OK if changed every season. The best quality fuel line is Viton, but too expensive I feel since it is easy enough to change out a couple of Tygon fuel lines at the end of a flying season while doing routine maintenance. The 32oz tank is Ok too, and will give you respectable flight times with adequate reserve for landing. Just make sure that the stopper used is gas compatible (reddish brown usually, although some are black too) and solder DuBro fuel barbs on the brass tubes to ensure that the fuel tubing stays put (I also place a zip tie behind the barb for more clamping on the tubing).

RE: MY FAVORITE GASOLINE ENGINE
Hi. The sweetest gas engine I've ever run was a 3w 100iB2 signature series engine, and second is my Zenoah G-62 w/CH ignition. I'm getting some time on a 3W 70i, and have to say that this is the SMOOTHEST running single cyl. engine I've ever owned. Powerful too, as it yanks my 22 lb. Edge 540 around with abandon. Oil used is BelRay S-2 @ 32 -1, then 50 -1 after breakin. Also use Yamalube, Pennzoil and have very good results with any of these.(no hard carbon deposits) The 100 swung a 27 x 10 and the 70 is on a 24 x 10. The G-62 uses a 22 x 10. Thrust/power with these is exceptional.

RE: Gas/oil mixture for gas engines
Hi. Name is Ken (Starfighter). You will find that most everyone has their own idea about the oil(s) to use when breaking in a new engine, and here is mine: 1) BelRay S-2 @ 32 - 1. 2) Yamalube @ 32 - 1. After break-in, I still use BelRay S-2 @ 50 - 1. You can find either oil at motorcycle/snowmobile shops (Yamalube only at Yamaha dealers). I have used just about every 2 cycle air-cooled oil out

Hi jack19345: SORRY to CORRECT YOU, but I NEVER posted that the MAGNUM has a front carb (side carb on the engine), and IT IS a HOMELITE EZ (mistyped XL, meant EZ). (Had to get repair parts from the "obsolete" parts network for it. Also, still have ALL of the paperwork that came with it as well.) Thank You for your info. Ken (Starfighter)

RE: Glueing stuff inside a fiberglass fueselage??
Hi. The best adhesive to use is a Styrene based type (PFM, E6000, GOOP, etc.). Once applied and cured, the glue joints will not fail. Hysol works too, but is expensive. The E6000 is avail from WalMart craft section for cheap. As others who have used these types posted, these glues really stick to the surfaces, and the glue joint formed WILL NOT fail, unless of course you destroy the acft.

RE: Painting aluminum spinners
Hi. Do this all the time, and I first wash the spinner with "COMET" Cleaner. Yes, "COMET". The "COMET" etches the Aluminum and renders it ready for finish paint w/o any sanding, etc. This really works well for any aluminum that you want to paint. Try it, you'll like it.

RE: Color tinting epoxy?
Hi. I do this all of the time, and use Testors enamels. It only takes a few drops per batch of glue to tint the epoxy, and it is compatible with the epoxies. Do not use any form of water based pigments(latex, etc.). You don't want ANY water in your epoxy mix as the water weakens the glue joint, or sometimes the epoxy will not cure at all. When thinning out epoxies, make sure to use DENATURED alcohol, or Acetone. Do Not use Isopropyl Alcohol as it contains WATER. (Read the labels.)

Hi Terry, name's Ken Wilson (Starfighter). I too can sheet a foam wing w/o shucks or vacum bagging by using contact cement and a separating wax paper. Then you carefully roll the core into the skin while exerting pressure, and 'Voila'. Sheeted, and extremely strong wing.... Just my opinion. Ken (Starfighter)

RE: Conversion to Gas?
Hi. My name is Ken Wilson (Starfighter). Have converted both a ST 2500, and a OS BGX to gas. Both used a Walbro carb and CH ignitions. Both engines run FINE, w/o the problems alluded to by others. Any engine will overheat if not properly cooled, and the gas conversion does not increase the potential for this occurrence. (The ST 2500 turns an 18 x 8 prop @7850rpm using gas. Sold the BGX.) * You DO

Hi. I have 2 of these engines converted, and I don't run a needle bearing. Just run CH Ignition and 10 to 1 oil ratio as per the response from TKG (who by the way is CH Ignitions) and you will never have a problem. Also, run the stock carb, it works with gas ok after proper tuning. But, best power will be on FAI fuel [no nitro, just 80/20 methanol/oil] w/ignition. You will be amazed at the power it will develop.
