RE: Lost my Dirty Birdi 60 today
Sorry to hear about your DB... Concerning the 2.4 issue. To me, the use of that band is asking for trouble. I'll stick to narrow band.

RE: os 61 fsr abc
Hello, If it's only the bore that's gone, and you piston is still ok, or can get your hands on a new one, in Germany, there should be a guy that can chrome the bore again. He also states, that it's better to put in new (high quality ) bearings. Will try that myself when I have time again This guy is active in rc-car engine tuning, could even do this for our .61's , but also states that it will put then all power in the high rpm, lacking power in mid and low range. Could be great for the speed flyers, or those that only fly ballistic ( litteraly ) [:D] Steve

RE: Scaled Tiporare Plans
David, Here you go into error ! The fuse of the Curare 20 is not so small. Making it so small could create to much stress on the fuse. When I can get back onto my .20 , I will measure it. If I remember well, I think two servo's would fit beside eachother, so, I guess the scaling from the fuse is not to scale. Can you read psd files ? Steven ( the one you emailed with )

Hello Roguedog, what's the quality of these ABN liners ? I heard they suck? All these old ABC , the real ones, normally worked great. Have such an old FSR ABC .40 too , same problem. Ofcourse, that one was used a lot.

Hello All, Webra normally have a serial number. Webra can tell you, with that serial number exactly what model it is. Those webra's are all fine engines. Seems to hold longer then the old good OS engines. And can giv a lot power too.

RE: Italian Aviomodelli Turcan - Pattern or Pretender?
Hello Scott-(Jim that is), I guess this is a thanks to me, well yw. Don't leave it to long on the pile, as it certainly looks sleek, and maybe a good performer. All my stuff is now packed and stacked for some time, due to a move that took way to long, and eventually, it's now getting stacked in the container to move. If I get around to it, I might find this airplane in a (very) old catalogue from this brand. This way, we could date this airplane, and I maybe could scan in the page, so you also have the comment they gave wit the model. Have fun building and flying, Steven

RE: A-Ray
Does anyone has pics of the S-ray ? I have one that *may* be one, but I was told it was a commander , shoulder wing, and normally a round canopy on the wing. Could be flown with anything between a .40 to .61 , prolly even a smaller one, and was a good glider, unfortuntely, just not good enough on it last's flight [:(] Another wing to repair [:@]

RE: If you want a Curare
My mounted fuse don't even fit in a 120 cm box..... Due to the weight of the fuse ( it's remarkable light ) , I guess it's prolly the same, but if I look into the dimensions, it's bigger (longer)then the normal size a Curare 60 should have.... Unfortunately, I don't know who build it..

Hey Dave, If I can help you out.... I also have a second source, and prolly, you wouldn't have to wait 3 months... I have his Curare 20 kit, and he promised me that the Curare 60 was even brighter, with enforced wings, etc. And no barndoors style hinged things The guy makes the kits as he simply loves the Curare, plus to get some money back to pay his own hobby Let me know if I can help you out ( with German ) and if you would be interested in the alternate kit.

RE: If you want a Curare
If you guys wish, I could dig out the shipping costs for ya. Prolly it will become cheaper if a few kits are ordered at the same time...... The problem is that the package of theses kits is kinda huge, so you get in the special prices. I already checked it out for one of the guys from the states. By the way, I can get enhanced kit ( GFK , etc ) of the Curare 60 for about 160 €. Linkage for flaps, .... , cool model, and should be rather quickly build up , glass fuse and sheeted foam wings [8D] It's the guy that designed my Curare 20 kit , that you can see on my profile.

RE: what Radios are you guys using?
It's clear this new technology will have it's pro's , but I certainly see a bunch of contra's coming. Like : - how big is the frequency pool, how many sets can work together - due to the small wave, it will be very vulnerable, if the model goes out the line of sight, meaning, going behind a treeline, antenna's, etc probably in US that won't really a problem, but in ol' europe, certainly in my country, we don't have miles of free space, all frequencies are already shared with a lot of other applications. For example, our airfield has treelines on two sides, one side a field, the other side a lot of grassfields, electrified with high tension, and some small forest, coupled to a military zone. Exactly in that area, we note a lot of problems, with all of them PCM's , while my old sets never had a problem. ( I'm so happy with my mpx stuff )[8D] If we fly on a normal altitude ( we have 100 / 200 meter limits ), it happens when flying 'low', that sometimes we go out of sight for just a short time, and then again, and again. Would be fun testing a 2.4Ghz system there, but I fear it would get in trouble fast, certainly, because in Europe, the emitting power can only be a very small part of what is allowed in US.

Hello, I used to have two OS .25RC's . They always ran great with 9 x 4 and 9 x 6. I used one of them about two to three days /week, during 4-5 years, while the FSR's were more powerfull, but had more weight as well. Steven

RE: what Radios are you guys using?
Multiplex (MPX) 3030 35MHZ , never had problems loosing control with MPX 2.4GHZ has it good thing , but due to the short wave certainly more vulnerable to all kinds of the reception distorsion, as even trees can distort reception Anyway, 2.4 GHZ is not to thrust in Europe ( this frequency is shared with all kinds of stuff ) Some producents are marketing it, but advicing against it For classic pattern, you only need a simple set, strating 4 channel up to 7 ( adding retracts, mixture controls , flaps , ....) That's how the guys did it in that era ! Steven

RE: Italian Aviomodelli Turcan - Pattern or Pretender?
Hello, It's a nice plane, but have to warn you about one thing : the fuse . I had one model, named Devil, a beginnersmodel, from the same brand, or their brother company or something. A few months later, they made the same kit, with an ABS fuse, which looked very nice build ! But here it comes : It flew a little better then mine, due to weight, but after a few flights, we use a concrete road to land, the pilot made a heavy turn, rolling on the asfalt. The airplane followed the command, but the fuse ripped up. Thus, I can only add, reinforce it enough !!! think Carbon ? Steven

RE: Curare Semi Kit..
Hey Chuck, Talking about Webra, the oldies still work fantastical ( I have about 4 of them ) Going from the blackhead to the speed and the 'magic type', with the exhaust behind the cylinder [8D]. The blackhead can get a Phantom topp model in the air, but once the speed drops....... you'll have to make a helicopter landing.... running a 10 x 8 , which is ofcourse, looking to it's + 4kg weight to small, unfortunately can't get a bigger propeller on it, even with the 10 x 8 it's a lawnmower [:D] Man I'm curious to get the rear exhaust running in a Magic [:)]

Hey Jim , Hope you like the plan ? The Curare 40 flies fine, even without flaps , could be an option to combine them with the ailerons. But not necessary. But the heavier build, the faster it comes in into approach. But I guess this is one of the things we'll all like onto our pattern birdies ;) Steven

Mk Curare/Minare 40 : Wing : 55mm Stab : 95mm Mine is build with less, ie, if you would measure the wing on the upper side, it's straight, and the only dihedral that it has, is due to the profile getting thinner on the tips. Still, it was flying like on rails

RE: Curare or Leopards Orders Wanted ! ! ! !
Hey guys, I guess Rainedave was talking about me : Mk Curare 40 plans available : plan + shipping worldwide , let's round up 12 €. I'm willing to act as a middle man, and send stuff as a gift. To get shipping prices low, all kits should be the wooden box stuff kits, which basicly means a fuse that still must be constructed in Balsa. I can send cheaply a Curare 20 , the one you see on my profile, and indeed if I can finally get to it, Curare 40/60 models in MK-style kit. The biggest issue why I can't start with it is that I'm still waiting on a move, that get's postponed all time. I found a compnay that could lasercut all parts, so that's already half way. I almost had a NIB curare 40 kit, unfortunately, while it was for sale, it got crushed, and became worthless. To our friend who did so much effort : If I can help some way, ask, I live in Belgium, not family, but we all are pals ? Anyway, those wanting a MK Curare (Minare ) 40 plan, PM me. Can get a Curare 20 "cheaply" to US as well this means about 26 € or 52 € depending weight, plus shipping price from germany. would be fine to get an order of 5 pieces. Shipping would be happening PER KIT, to an individual addy. Later guys, Steven
