RE: BVM 60
Yes I have been in contact with BVM and they no longer have the photo booklet. Ron, Take a look at your manual and see if it references pictures that are not actually in the manual. That's the way my manual is. Thanks, Steve

BVM 60" F-86 help needed
I have an older (probably 1990's vintage) BVM Sabre that I bought from either the second or third owner. The kit is new and unstarted. Everything looks to be there except there is a photo book that goes with the instruction manual. The instruction manual references pictures out of the photo book. Does anyone happen to have this photo book left over from their build? Thanks, Steve

RE: Twin Sabre Build: BVM and Trim Aircraft
How is the BVM F-86 build coming along. I too have an OLD BVM Sabre kit in the box (plans dated 1991) and I'd like to see a build thread. This is all I could find on speed brakes on the 60" BVM Sabre. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3782681&postcount=207 Might help out a little.

RE: The latest in EDF
ORIGINAL: Vincent 3min flights ... yawn. Its fine running in a pod setup but once its installed in something scale the intake would have to be very over sized to suck in all that air just like the old DF days. Vin...
Oversized in what way. An EDF will fly just fine on a 70% FSA intake. In fact the only thing an oversized intake is going to do is slow down the top speed.

RE: T&J Models  Gloster Meteor (short kit)(EDF Jet)
Tony, Just saw these pictures and one thing that concerns me is your belly pan. It looks to me like the wing isn't mounted at the correct incidence. You might want to post those pics in Jim's original build thread on the 'other' forum and ask Jim for his thoughts. Steve

You can get the Brian Taylor designed 50" wingspan Me163 from Traplet here: http://shop.traplet.com/product.aspx?c=2523 From what I've seen it is an excellent flyer.

RE: BVM F-86 SABRE TURBINE MODIFICATIONS?
One of the addendums talks about the lead weight for the counterbalance in the rudder. Not sure if this completely eleminated the flutter problem or not. I looked around my box but didn't see the lead weight anywhere. Supposed to balance the rudder along the hinge line using the weight. Also mentioned in one of the addendums is the use of a gyro for the rudder.

RE: BVM F-86 SABRE TURBINE MODIFICATIONS?
One thing I noticed looking at the newsletters and what not that came with my kit is a price sheet from 1991. This kit when new back then cost $550. I wish BVM would offer it as a kit again instead of an ARF.

If you search on Youtube for either BVM Sabre or BVM F-86 you can see several pretty nice videos. Here are a couple of the more recent ones from Neil in the UK using a now out of production Stumax SM110-52 ducted fan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zYqZMja0XQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4izXqbk76c

RE: BVM F-86 SABRE TURBINE MODIFICATIONS?
BVM mechanical gear and doors in action! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcKgd9eE29c I have one of these unbuilt in a box. Mine is from 1991 I think but it does have the carbon fibre reinforcement molded into the tail section as well as the pre sheeted horizontal stabs so maybe it isn't as old as that. I bought it from probably the 3rd or 4th owner. My kit came with a few of the BVM Sabre newsletters that have building tips. I wish I had all of those.

RE: Mig 31 Firefox
Here is some more info on the Firefox. This guy is actually in posession of at least one of the studio models of the Firefox. He was working on a 1/32 scale resin model to put into limited production, but that was put on hold due to some family matters. Not sure if Will is still doing anything on the Firefox or not, but he would be one to contact for more information. http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=11226&st=0

RE: T&J Models  Gloster Meteor (short kit)(EDF Jet)
Yes the fuselage shape is correct for building a single seater F.8 Meteor. Only the canopy would have to be scratch built. I have the plans and they look very good. .

RE: BVM F-86 Goldenhawks color scheme.
Greg, I recently purchased a BVM Sabre and saw your post. Mine is the older kit version with the single piece wing and still new in box. If you are still looking for paint suggestions read this article. http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal4/3801-3900/gal3897_F-86_Williams/00.shtm Keep in mind that Rodney Williams the guy that built that model has won many IPMS modeling competitions and he is comparing the paint he used with a paint chip from the paint that was used on the Golden Hawks. His recommendation is a product called SNJ (now sold by Hawkeye). http://www.hawkeyeshobbies.com/catalog/snj.htm Unfortunately it's sold in 1oz bottles. I'm not sure how much you would need but probably at least 10 bottles if not more.

RE: Exceed RC Mig-15 70mm re-stock?
Why is the red one $12 more than the silver one? Is it because the red one is in stock? I bit the bullet and ordered the red one. I'll just have to paint it another scheme.

RE: BVM F-86 60
Dan, Love the Canadair Sabre. What did you use to get that aluminum finish? I just bought an older completely untouched BVM 60" Sabre kit so I'm looking at aluminum finish options. Steve
ORIGINAL: DAN AVILLA Christian I converted one many years ago to a RAM 500. It is important to reinforce the rear of the fuselage in the tail area with carbon cloth. I also ordered all the new formers from BVM. As for location of turbine I purchased a bypass and pipe from BVM. It came with plans. When I sold the plane I gave him the plans. Maybe some one has a set of plans that they can pull the measurements for you. If you have the servo operated gear I think you will have problems. I converted mine to air and it worked great. Good luck Dan Avilla BVM rep
G&C Hobby F-16 (64mm) kit version request
Could you look into getting the G&C Hobby F-16 as a kit version? I have a Spektrum radio and I don't want to pay (even it's only $25) for some hoopty radio that I'm just going to throw in the trash anyway. A suggestion for ALL future EDFs is that you offer them as kit versions as well as RTF. Your competitor does sell an airframe only kit. http://www.hobby-lobby.com/mini_f_16_airframe_only_w_fan_unit_rc_jets_59063_prd1.htm
