and they sell skyartec wasps which may be about the worse heli in the world. Have you tried the futaba 401 on the black hawk. Awesome!

RE: its here. my new heli form ka-planes
I love my black hawk. It has a higher head to tail boom than the trex, so less tail boom strikes when you are starting out. Once you fly for a while, you will want to add some higher end servos but wait until to need one if you strikle hard and strip one. Mine is still as a good as new and very steady so it made it easy to learn to flyer more advanced. Mike Sr also checked out my belt cp when I first bought one, no charge, but he asked me to give him a couple of days whcih was worth the extra time to make sure it was flying. Good people.

looks really good, I really like the colors on the canopy. some black carbons would be sharp too. Is the 401 much better than the 240 gyro? whats the difference?

from the DX6 settings I have seen on other heli threads, it doesn't appear to be nearly as complicated as the DX7.

sounds like a good list but fortunately I have not had much building to do. Sounds like something that would be good to do.

It seems like training gear is real good for a while but when you take them off it seems as if the heli flies better.

I used some 325 blades and they didn't seem to be that much different than the 315s. What tolerances are there as far as how long of a blade you use?

I am hunting for one but do know if they already have a retract system if you can away not hooking up a servo and bypass them. Might just get a cheap one and paint it for now.

SR - I would look in the TREX "kit ads" and take a similar and add between $100 and $150 for the add ons

never thought of that, sort of like carbon blades I guess as far as the stress on other parts.

RE: new copter
good point. i went through helis and parts as I crashed until i was good enough to get a good one. once i did i wondered if it would have better to start with a decent heli becasue it is set up right and sturdier and more dependable. i like that i learned on some cheapos. 400 to 500 is prety high end though, at least seems to me

I think once you get the servos going in the right direction you need to ensure the CP settings at the end are coordinated. Will find out......

RE: best first heli for the price
If you go that way may I suggest you be ready for an immediate gyro and tail servo upgrade, and maybe a new transmitter/receiver. I tried a walkera and sold it two days later. They are at a very good price though so you may want to just get the kit and improve on the electronics. Just my opinion and I do not mean to be negative just realistic.

RE: newby question. PLEASE READ..PLEASE!!
The 450 size is good and stable and the hawk is a tough bird for the EP $300 and $400 for metal/carbon for this is really quite good.

they fly very good outside and are stable. a 450 can be hovered in a garage but flying outside is a 450s strong suit

I wonder if there are some other cheaper 450's or maybe the Trex 450 is actually worth the cost difference in the long run. I am in the same boat going from coax to wanting to learn on a ccpm
