Bob: That great you can make it and can't wait to meet you. I'm sure you got some good "war stories". Don't worry but bring anything, just come and have fun! Ausf: It was only my first attempt, give me time, I'll get a full roll out of it yet! Hmmm... maybe I should build a ramp.

Sherman Queston
I have a Mato Sherman and was planning on cutting off the oversize barrel. I have some different size tubes to make a new out of, so my question is what would be the lenght of a 75mm and 76mm barrel or are they the same? I remember reading some where that the barrel on a 75mm is about 67.7" from tip to mantel, which at 1/16 would be around 4.23". Does anyone know if this correct? Any help would be appreciated.

Great Day - Great Weather - Great Battles - Great Guy!!!! What more do you want for a Battleday? The battlefield keeps getting better each time, and we've only started our second year there. If you're in the area come and joins us, next BattleDay is June 16th. What better way to celebrate Father's Day weekend. YHR, I got a call from my credit card two weeks ago, asking me if I pusrchased $100 worth of apps from I-Tunes from Luxembourg of all places. When I asked them about they would give me any details but said I wouldn't have to pay for it and would be issuse a new card. This was the second time in 6 months this has happen to me. Oddly, I have only had the credit card with the super securited chip for 7 months! Not once did I have problem with my old card. Go firgure!!

RE: SLU (No Problems)
Devildog, I don't know if you still need but here is how I layout my SLU in my Panzer 3, I just installed last week. It is a pretty tight fit. First I removed all the plastic mounts that held the old Heng Long electronics and smoker. I angled the SLU in the back and removed the clear plastic that's on top for some extra space. For the apple, I laid a piece styrene on top to cover the old switch hole then cut a slot to insert the plug and epoxy it in place. Because the Panzer's cupola can be twisted on and off , I insert a cut down crazy glue container up through the bottom of the cupola where it fits snugly, then twist it back on over the apple for protection. I just have to finish cleaning up the wires a little, but I have already taken it for test drive, and hands nicely. It may become my new favourite battle tank.

RE: SLU (No Problems)
Dan, I'm not against a standard in this hobby and appreciate the effort you put into this, I just don't get why as you said "manufacturers should build a system that can be dumbed down to play the Tamiya game". I don't see any progress with that. Isn't already a standard that SLU, DBC and El-Mods are all compatible with Tamiya on the battlefield? And as for trains, the next step in development are the new Mono-trains. No matter what the standard is the humane mind will always push forward and develop new standards. Panther G, "Sure there are always going to be flaws with systems but the Tamiya so far has the fewest." They may have the fewest, but they seem to be the biggest. Just look at the countless arguments about "Fan Shots" and "45 Degree Defence". Anyway, I think we've hi-jack thread long enough, but would love to continue this discussion in a new thread.

RE: SLU (No Problems)
I'm sorry I don't get while the Tamiya system is still being held up as the standard, when people are complaining about the flaws in what seems to becoming an out of date system and some of the complainer are Tamiya owners. To use an old system as the standard just seems silly, like a step backwards in a hobby that we all love to see advance forward more. I'm say that ther is any system that is perfect and probably never will be as more people get in to this hobby because every one has different needs and wants. It's like buy a car, they all have different parts taht are not compatable with different makes and models but the manufacturers don't hold a car built in the 80's as todays standard. I think if you have tank on the field and it can fire and take hits from others with out a huge advantage and still fun than that is all that counts.

RE: CAN-AM Battleday Feb 25th 2012
The SLU completely replace all electronics, the only things you keep are are the gearboxes and motors. Your M-48 might be tight on space though, does it have adeep hull. I'm currently fitting a Panzer 3 with a system now and it pretty tight.

You guys look like you where having. Sorry I couldn't make it down, but with my Grandmother going in to the hospital while my parents were down in Florida, well family comes first! Especially since I lost my Grandpa last October. But she is getting better and should be out off the hospital as soon as her strength is up. Hopefully by next battle day I while have a few surprise for the club and the battlefield.

RE: Tank (& Military) Humor
GI Insurance Airman Jones was assigned to the induction center, where he advised new recruits about their government benefits, especially their GI insurance. It wasn't long before Captain Smith noticed that Airman Jones had almost a 100% record for insurance sales, which had never happened before. Rather than ask about this, the Captain stood in the back of the room and listened to Jones's sales pitch. Jones explained the basics of the GI Insurance to the new recruits, and then said: "If you have GI Insurance and go into battle and are killed, the government has to pay $200,000 to your beneficiaries. If you don't have GI insurance, and you go into battle and get killed, the government only has to pay a maximum of $6000." "Now," he concluded, "which bunch do you think they are going to send into battle first?"

The Company Commander and the First Sergeant were in the field. As they hit the sack for the night, the First Sergeant said, "Sir, look up into the sky and tell me what you see?" The CO said, "I see millions of stars." 1st Sgt.: "And what does that tell you, sir?" CO: "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Theologically, it tells me that God is great and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it tells me that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you, Top?" 1st Sgt.: "Well sir, it tells me that somebody stole our tent."

Tank (& Military) Humor
I thought it would be nice if we could inject a little fun and silliness here on the forum and get rid of some stress from the daily grind. So if you have a funny picture or joke or story post it here. Don't care if they are bad or good. Sometimes the bad ones are the funniest ones. Here is a joke and a picture to get it started. During training exercises, the lieutenant who was driving down a muddy back road encountered another car stuck in the mud with a red-faced colonel at the wheel. "Your jeep stuck, sir?" asked the lieutenant as he pulled alongside. "Nope," replied the colonel, coming over and handing him the keys, "Yours is."
