RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Orvel, You so right about the kids and the props. If that was at a AMA field and Club, they'd be in deep trouble with AMA. That's as dangerous as it gets with kids around. Your right, cute kids![:o]

RE: NEW 92
I finished mine about a year ago without the added expense of the counter rotating props and it flys and handles just fine, I'm using 2 OS-55 FX's which are more then enough power to get this black beauty off the ground and flying. Of course this just my opinion and remember what they say about opinions!!! Oh and I fly 3 bladed master airscrew props.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Gentlemen, Here's the scoop on KMP straight from Andrew, owner of KMP. While he was in China trying to get some of those problems we've talked about on the T-Cat he received a "Email" at his hotel the night before he was leaving to go back to Canada from the company in China who has been building that line of R/C planes for over 5 years that they were cancelling the agreement to sell to Andrew. They choose to give the rights to another company. I don't anything about them but I know that they offered the that same China company roughly 30-40% cheaper price to buy the ARFs from them and the company promised to increase production without adding manpower, in other words using the same number of employees to get almost a third more production with no further cost. I'll bet that will really increase Quailty!! I've been told that the new company taking over ARFs that Andrew was selling apparently doesn't plan on personal after sales help as KMP did. I don't know that for a fact but apparently that's what China told Andrew. The good news is that Andrew has a "New" company already lined up to build his new ARF's and has plans for a slew of new War-Birds over 80 inch wing span with a company that is willing to make those corrections that we all have been hoping for all these years. Anybody who has any questions please give Andrew a call on his toll free line, 1-888-968-7251 and I'm sure he will be able to provide more answers. He has some stock left but not a whole lot. Hope this gets the word out. Tom Streetuz Edited 6/20/09

RE: NEW 92" ASM A-26 INVADER
I haven't seen the F7F from ASM yet but if it's anything close the A-26 as far as gear doors go I wouldn't touch it. You can get the KMP F7F, change the retracks out and fab you own gear door hinges and retrack mech. That's what I had to do. Col Winters, a Fine WWII pilot on the T-Cat fourm, built his F7F several times over but did come up with a good fix. The only down side is you've got to spend many dollars and many, many more hours of labor and misc parts, severos, hinges, etc to make it work. Don't get me wrong, the ASM A-26 is a Great Bird and looks great when all put together. If you have any questions, email for my home phone number and I'll be glad to go over everything with you.[;)] Tom Streetfuz@npgcable.com

RE: NEW 92" ASM A-26 INVADER
AMEN to that!! No more china pieces of crap. I might buy Great Planes and TopFlight but that's about right now. When I finished the T-Cat I took one test "Roll" up and down the strip and haven't touched it since. Tom

RE: NEW 92" ASM A-26 INVADER
The Bird is ready to fly except for gear doors. The ASM instruction booklet and the quality of parts don't seem to match. Anyone got a better idea with perhaps a picture or two? Thanks, Streetfuz@npgcable.com PS: The picture was taken before the interior was finished. The top turret turns 360 and the 50's go up and down controlled by a spare channel on the radio

RE: NEW 92" ASM A-26 INVADER
airegal1, I didn't use any glue at all. I used "Small" black cap head screws along the bottom side of the windshield secured from one of the screw mfgs. For the top strap I used 5 minute expoxy, VERY, VERY carefully with a tooth pick, applied it to the underside of the cockpit strap and let sit for a few hours. I also blocked it up from the cockpit floor board to the bottom the windshield to hold it in place until it was dry. I then ran some 3/8" flat black tape around the bottom of the winshield where it meets the fuslage. I reapplied new yellow tape escape makings and it's done.[;)] I'm sure that there are other ways but this worked fine for me. Hope this helps. Tom PS: Call Hobby People in Fountain Valley,CA and I beleive you can get a new windshield through them.

Good Work Col! Glad you got down safely. Had mine out Sat for it's first run ups and electrical checks. Also cycled the gear amny times and check for air leaks. Lost 1 lb in 45 minutes, I think that will work. Next week end will hopefully be it's first flight, weather being so good here in Arizona this time of the year. Tom

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Hi, I'm new to the forum but I have a question and could really use some suggestions. I have the KMP Tigercat and am about 95% finished with the build. The big problem is how to hinge the "Main" gear doors on the lastest KMP version. The older ones came with a slotted cover that just screwed on and then the main gear just went in and out of it, not too scale! Now the later ones have two gear doors per side. Problem now is the compond curves of the doors make impossible to get a hinge set up that works. I'm trying work with Robart hinges, they seem the best so far but are proving a "Bear" to install. Just using expoxy I don't beleive will stand the air pressure from landing or taking off. Any one out there that has built one of these and solved the proble? [:o] The other problem which has been solved by friend and co-builder is the front nose gear and no way to keep it turning as it goes down it to and comes out of the nose. The factory forget to put a spring set up on it like all the other retrack systems out. What we did was design and duplicate a system very similar to Robart's nose wheel struct. Works just fine but someone that hasn't put too many "War Birds" like the Tri Gear F7F together will have a real problem. Anyone that needs further info on the nose gear, please contact me. This problem seems to be for all KMP Tri-Gear Gen II through Gen V, inculding non War Birds, any tri-gear system, either spring down air up or all air up/down has the same problem.[;)] I understand that Andrew (KMP) is working on getting it solved but as of now it's still a problem. The F7F is a Great looking War Bird but once these problems are over come it should be a much better seller. We all know how money you put into a War Bird like this so I don't want anything to happen that could of/should of been corrected when they were designed. Tom

RE: Looking forVQ Macchi info
I've got one of these and it's pretty darn good for the money. I'm planning on putting a OS Max 46 in it and there appears to plenty of room after I test fit the cowl and engine on the bird. As for wheels I've got 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 wheels I just haven't deceided which I like better. Get a Squadron Signal In Action on teh Macchi and you'll see what I'm talking about. Guess they like a lot of countrys used what they could get in war-time. Hope this helps, Tom Oates[:D]
