Hi Phil - I am looking to buy another one of your Me-262 kits, but it seems that neither Green Air Designs nor Monzano are producing them anymore. Do you have another kit cutter that makes these? Thx - Tom :)

RE: Martin-Baker MB5 Plans Enlargement
Yeah, that looks good....sorry I meant DA85(not sure what I was thinking DA80). So, Dave, let me ask - given the right approach to the design work - what would you want$$ for a set of these plans?

RE: Martin-Baker MB5 Plans Enlargement
Nah...I'd be looking for something with more power than a G62. I'd be looking more likely at a DA 80 - along those lines. Especially because I know a lot of fliers that have problems in trying to stuff a G62 in the cowl of a Mustang that size. The carb sticks out and looks really ungainly. With either a DA80 or even and EVO80 the carb & muffler are inline with the cylinder so the only worry then becomes the height of the head. I would want to add a working scale muffler for realism as well. Tom

RE: Martin-Baker MB5 Plans Enlargement
Hey Dave - what would it take to enlarge your design? The Bob Holman plans are for an MB-5 of roughly 55" w/s or so. If we wanted to take it up to - say - 2x scale to compete w/ a Ziroli or Don Smith Mustang I would think we would be looking at considerable design enhancements, i.e. structural integrity changes to handle the power plant, changes in the wing structure to handle significantly increased flight stresses as well as retracts....etc. Tom

RE: Is kitcutter.com a ripoff?
Hi Stevenmax - I think the whole thing started with a general sentiment of negativity towards Michael Neal's poor business dealings with his company 'KitCutter' - that's probably pretty obvious. I personally started out fairly supportive of Michael, but then quickly changed my tune when I too started to really experience the same weird nonsense. The bottom line is that some guys on this thread apparently know Michael personally - I do not; however, as a customer I expect 'customer satisfaction'. When I place an order AND pay for it, I expect to receive exactly what I paid for regardless of whether it's a Big Mac from McDonalds or buying a new car from the dealership. As I read the string, the philosophy seems to be from some members that, "Oh it's okay if I paid for a kit and never received it - the guy has fallen on hard times so leave him alone and oh by the way why not send him a few more $$$ for good measure!" As for me, I bought 2 kits at the same time - a Pepino WACO and a Dave Andersen FW152H 114" w/s. The former was cut and shipped w/in about 3-months and was of very good quality; the latter took well over a year and when it was received it was the WRONG version not to mention that request after request for a refund fell on deaf ears. On one occasion I was told he couldn't refund my $$$ because the wood was already ordered & received but that he couldn't cut it because of lung ailments. On a later occasion I was told it was taking so long to cut the kit because he hadn't been able to order the wood yet. What bothers me is just the blatant dishonesty. If the guy has fallen on hard times because of the medical reasons he has expressed then he should explain very clearly that he has fallen on hard for the health reasons and simply be truthful about it. At least if he's honest and says that it will take him quite a bit more time to recover and meet his kit sales commitments then that's one thing- most of us would be a bit more understanding of such situations, but to continuously lie and come up with one outlandish story after another completely discredits the dude in turn creating fear and anger from those who've invested tons of $$$ waiting for kits that we'll will never see them. RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear
Hi Speed Lover - Well speaking for myself, I have one of these brand new-in-box. Before I bought it I did tons of research and asked loads of questions. All-in-all I cam away with a mixed bag of answers and feelings; however, one thing I did come to a conclusion on was that everybody that built the model and powered according to how Thunder Tiger says to, these folks were all very happy with the craft. On the inverse, those that tried to skip corners and severely over power the plane ended up crashing it, having tail feather flutter, or a host of other problems. Further research led me to believe that many of the problems exhibited in the ARF were evident in the initial production runs and that Thunder Tiger took immediate steps to correct these problems. Most of these were around poor hinging of the tail feathers and poor construction of the retract gear mounting blocks, but there werea few other things that were corrected too. As for me, I'm eagerly looking forward to building and flying mine with a BME Super Tigre 90 gas engine. The plane isn't meant for racing like the full scale version - this is a sport flyer with a fiesty attitude!! :) Tom

RE: Martin-Baker MB5 Plans Enlargement
No I don't, although I do know that Michael O'Neal at kitcutters will enlarge existing plans and cut a kit for you. He does some redesign work as well to go with the larger size. BUT his customer service reputation is very poor. I've looked and looked for a giant scale set of MB-5 plans but have had no luck whatsoever....but then I also looked and looked for a giant scale size of Christen Eagle biplane plans and wouldn't you know that a set (81" w/s) shows up on Ebay! So I bought them :) I haven't looked for MB-5 plans in a couple of years, though, so I'll start poking around and if I find any I'll let you know.

RE: Martin-Baker MB5 Plans Enlargement
Hi Dave - Nope. Since I started the thread back in '07, I've not heard a word. I still have my original plans set and the canopy. My sights are set on one of the new Maxx Products contra-rotating electric motors that I could fit in the existing design. Couple that with retracts and I'll have a nice .60 size plane. BUT I was hoping to build the larger size. Tom

RE: Is kitcutter.com a ripoff?
Hi Fellow Fliers - I finally got my Focke-Wulf TA152H....BUT I was really upset because I had waited over a year for it for one and then when I got it he had given me the 94" w/s version and not the 114" w/s version that I had ordered. So yes I was fuming. On the flipside, though, he also cut me a really nice 90" w/s Pepino WACO YMF-5 biplane (which I have not yet built). Michael @ kitcutters promised he would cut me a new Meister Scale P-47 in exchange for the Focke-Wulf but refused to give me back my money for it....I opted to sell the kit and cut with my losses. On a different note, I too am now getting spam mail from them. At one time I actually got an email from Michael stating that he was in London and lost his money and was hoping I would wire transfer some $$ to him. He claimed that his email had been hacked....but I still continue to get the SPAM. Needless to say I went bargain shopping and hit a pawn shop. From what I can tell the WACO is a really good kit and the wood quality is nice, BUT KitCutters is not trustworthy and does not stand behind their sales. At one time (see an earlier post of mine) I was sympathetic of kitcutters, but I have no more sympathy and will never consider purchasing another kit from them. I will go back to Larry @ Precision Cut Kits! Cheers - Tom :)

I like the MiG-3....very sharp looking and flying aircraft! Personally I am much more of a WWI aviation buff, myself! Fokker DR.1, Hanriot Dupont HD1, SPAD XIII, Siemens Schuckert DIII. I have a 1/4 scale Fokker Dr.1 (Glenn Torrance) that I want to build. I'm not familiar with the IL-2.....looks like an interesting plane, though. Good Luck w/ that project!

Hi Fokke - I have not begun to build this model yet.....I have too many projects right now but I've always liked the Me109! Yes, when I learned from you which plans you were using I bought a set myself :) I will put a 50cc - 60cc engine into it though. My BIG project soon will be the 90inch W/S Pepino WACO YMF5 biplane and I would like to put the new OS 7 cylinder radial into her. Tom

Well, Fokke, I for one have been following this build from the very beginning and being a fellow model craftsman myself I really appreciate your work! So many R/C airplanes these days are ARFs and are built very poorly so I like to see people that take the time to scratch build. I bought this same set of plans and someday hope to scratch build my own. What engine did you decide upon for your 109?

Really? I'd read many posts where the guys were using the Zenoah G62, which stuck out of the cowl quit a bit, but is also a 60cc engine. I would've thought that since the ST is an inline twin that it would actually fit better. Thanks for the insight! :)

Hi CRI - not familiar with the ESM Spitfire but I was looking at a same size 1/5 scale PICA Spit, which I've heard very good things about. I was wondering the same thing about engines - I've got a brand new Super Tigre 60cc Twin I was thinking of using but the kit recommendations are for a 1.60 4-stroke and THAT seems really underpowered. Hi Everybody - I've seen a number of posts in this thread on the engine selection. I was wondering whether anybody has installed and flow the Super Tigre 60cc Twin in this craft and if so how well it worked? I have one of these engines (brand new!) and haven't decided whether to try it out in a plane like this or whether to sell it. I've also been contemplating mounting it into a PICA 1/5 scale Spitfire. Hi Guys - I'm pleased to say that after a year of waiting, Michael has completed my Dave Anderson 114" w/s Focke-Wulfe Ta-152H. I am very pleased with the overall quality of his work and the wood. I had ordered this one at the same time that I ordered a Pepino WACO, which I received before Christmas 2009 - it too was an excellent kit. Hopefully, maybe all his illness woes and employee troubles will now have vanished and he'll be able to start kicking out his kists again like clockwork. I would be interested in knowing more from the rest of you on your feelings regarding the kit and wood quality from him. Tom

Well, guys, I completely understand your gripes and complaints as I too have been waiting nearly a year to get my Fock-Wuld Ta152H from Michael. I spoke with him via phone moments ago. We'll see what gives over the next week or so. I can say, though, that my 1st kit from him was a 90" WACO (Pepino) and it's magnificent. Larry at Precision Cut Kits does very good work as well if anybody is interested.
