RE: What's a good first crawler for a 7 year old?
The 1/16th Summit is ok, but like it was already said a little over priced, but none the less for a 7 year old it is perfect, the parts are pretty durable and they can go a lot of places and even though they are "waterproof" don't submerge it like a submarine lol that scenario always has a bad outcome.

RE: Newb Question about
I'm assuming your 4-runner is the same suspension as my 88 pickup, independent in the front and solid axle in the rear. If so a cheap route would be to get a Tamiya CC-01 (it's IFS in the front and solid axle in the rear) and get this body: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rc4z-b0002.htm Its a very capable rig and would look pretty scale.

RE: Sunfirefoot's CC-01 Build Thread
Well sadly my Kit Still isn't here, but i got my tires and unexpectedly found another sweet set for the low cost of free!!! My sister was throwing out some old toys and in the pile was a maisto rock crawler, well i sat staring at it and then it clicked!!! Those are close to a 1.9 ID!!! They fit great on the Walker Evans 1.9 wheels and are soft enough to be used!! The ones mounted in the pics are off the maisto.

Sunfirefoot's CC-01 Build Thread
Hey!! I'm looking into getting a CC-01 kit from tamiya. I have done several other builds and have a few questions about this kit. 1. Suspension mods, Ckrc makes a 4-link kit, anyone use it? Also aftermarket shocks that will improve its performance? 2. How capable is it for moderate trail's with a few rocks? 3. The diffs, the rear one can be locked but what about the front? If so, how? 4. Overall is this a decent scaler for its price? I own a SCX10 Honcho and a wraith, both perform excellent. This CC-01 will be just for fun and for its real scale looks. The trail it will be used on has smaller rocks, medium rocks, a rocky creek and awesome lyme stone structures. Thank you in advance for your input!!!

RE: Sunfirefoot's CC-01 Build Thread
I heard that the stock tires are too hard so last night off of EBay I found (4) 1.9 axial walker Evans black wheels and chrome center caps for $10 (free shipping) and (4) Losi MRC 1.9 Rock Claws for $9.87 shipped. $20 for a set of complete wheels?? Awesome find!! Now if my kit would just hurry up LOL!!!

As for the front diff I was thinking of just JB Welding the heck out of it, I know it's not reversible but what good do unlocked diffs serve on a trail rig anyway?

RE: anyone still using NIMH?
I still use NIMH, and chances are I always will. I have quite a few models, including a big a$$ summit and the 7-cell 3000 MAh do just fine in it. As it was stated previously I like not having to jump through loops to charge and maintain my packs. On the other hand, yes lipos will give you more power etc.

RE: Official Helion Dominus 10SC Thread
Sorry it took me awhile to respond, had to take a vacation. The DTX element in the Dominus makes it a whole different truck. It's extremely fast and agile, beating 4x4 Slash's left and right. I would recommend it. It's not waterproof but with a little plasti-dip it becomes waterproof, I have one in my Wraith and submerged it with no issues. The DTX element I believe is only 2S rated but that's more than enough because it puts out massive torque and it WILL round off the dog bones on the Dominus if you put too much juice in it.

RE: Official Helion Dominus 10SC Thread
Thats a good idea for the bumper mounts. A mod you can do to "beef" up the dog bones is buy a sling shot rubber band and slip it around the output shaft and the hub, it prevents them from falling out.

Its a POS in my opinion lol, the bottom line is i bought the rig for $80 used, I had its bigger brother the super rock slide well actually the Mad Torque but same thing in a sense. Anyway the ESC is blah and lacks the motivation my rig needs. Cool i figured it would, just thought i'd ask for some input first, Thanks for your help!!!

ESC Question
I have an RS10 that has a weak ESC, for those who don't know the RS10 is a MOA with dual 70t 380's, but the question i have is, i have a Waterproof XL-5 lying around, will that run both motors VIA a y-harness? Should i risk trying this? Thanks in advance for your input!!!! [:D]

RE: ecx torment, wow
It's pretty amazing honestly, I've had numerous velineon systems and a few sidewinder systems and the element puts them to shame, the 4 pole motor has plenty of torque and rpm, we clocked my torment at 57 mph on a traxxas series 3 7-cell, so I'd hate to see what it does on Lipo lol another thing to consider modding is the yokes and axles, I forgot this in my last post but I have slash axles and rustler metal yokes on my torment because the hobby shop didn't have the stock axles I did some homework and realized the slash axles and rustler yokes would work.

RE: ecx torment, wow
Not sure about the ruckus, it seems pretty cool, but anyway my torment trans is stock with the Duratrax Element bl system, it's a crazy machine!!! It handles that brushless amazingly, the shocks are Venom aluminum with 50 wt oil and that mod alone made it unroll able lol other than that it's stock.
