RE: 20-ish size cub
Thanks Bill I bought one and for a $68 arf its a great value. Construction seems good, instructions are very vague, overall I'm happy. We will see how it flies, I may modify it for flaps. OH and BTW I ordered it Thursaday at 1:00 and had it Friday by Noon. Dylan

RE: Mini Titan thread
SHimmy? Blade Tracking, Low headspeed, Belt tight -due to temp change. Wagging? Low headspeed, If you flew 10 minutes your headspeed is probably too low. I can fly 8 minutes if I just fly scale. If I 3d, I get 6 minutes. BTW the better you get the shorter your flight times become, at least following the 80% use of pack rule.

RE: Im gonna get a cub but which one.
Yeah, it should fly. No powerhouse but scale is what I'm after. I doubt it would fly with floats. I have a OS 52 4 stroke or a saito 56 if the OS 25 doesnt work. I may do the OS 52 and just prop it low.

RE: Im gonna get a cub but which one.
Jeff I've been eyeing it as well. I've always been happy with modeltech stuff, especially the value. I'm looking for a scale one with barn door surfaces and all the bad habits. I'm thinking a OS 25 or magnum 30 to keep the power scale.

RE: Im gonna get a cub but which one.
Blue Magic98 Thats the exact reason, I'm buying another cub. Flying a model that flys "scale" is fun and a change of pace. Every model I have is overpowered, and flying a scale powered model is a challenge and has a pucker factor, like hovering doing tail touches. I'm thinking of a 40 size cub with a 30-4 stroke it ought to fly fairly scale. I plan to add some tundra tires, and add some flaps. STOL with obstacles sounds like fun also. Maybe I can talk some buddies into it also and we can have "Bush Pilot Competitions". [sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: Mini Titan thread
Well said Oster I've researched who had the best price and Amainhobbies was unbeatable, For the Kit, For parts I like heliproz. Rather than buy spare parts I just bought an extra kit for $129, then I had one of everything extra. I'm very pleased with mine, and my Trex 450 SE hasnt been flown in months.

RE: Full scale flyers....roll call.
LOL Dark my instructor said the same thing. He's said sarcastically" let me outta this plane your making me sick". There's a lot of 2nd guessing thoughts go on as you taxi to take off. I figured if he says I'm ready, I'm ready. I mainly 2nd guessed because I only had 7.8 hrs. Its a good feeling, and hear your 1st solo x-country can be similar.

RE: Sword 2M pattern plane
Mintor 170, es pipe, JR 811 or 821's? Maybe Chuck remembers? I'll look wed. I'll part with all the 2-1/2engines, one runs good, one runs but needs a ring(doesnt idle very low). The other one is parts. Strong engine but they are finicky. $350 CAN HAVE IT ALL, The pipe is probably worth $200.

RE: Full scale flyers....roll call.
Thankyou all so much, I have found 2 other instructors about 25 miles away. The one I chose said he'd work with me to fly over to his airport with ATC, then I could just fly to him and do a lesson. Dual time and PIC, back on the right track. I really should have seen "the writing on the wall". When I bought my plane it needed and annual, he knew the plane, and didnt require any

RE: Full scale flyers....roll call.
Figured this would be a good place to ask versus AOPA, piper owners society, etc. I'm a student pilot, I own a cherokee 140/160 ram N4335T. I'm self employed and can fly fairly regularly. I currently have ~12 hours PIC,~40 TO and landings, and have soloed. Here's my question, once I was soloed(twice supervised), shouldnt I be able to fly the pattern and/or stay within 25 miles of my home airport? Of course assuming nice VFR conditions ? My CFI doesnt want me building too much solo time. I currently only have 1.8 hrs solo . The big picture is my CFI is a retired 67 year old great instructor, owns a small FBO, is also an A&P, and some limited charter flights. He has another student similar to me and after one year has just started cross countries. I dont want it to take a year but it seems that the direction I'm headed because he is so busy. When I know the weather is decent I'll call him and he says he's busy, then when I stop by the FBO hes napping [&o]. I actually dont blame him at 67 years old but its aggrevating for me. A conservative estimate of cancelled flight sessions is at least 10 times. He's got 30000+ hours mostly for P.H.I.(petroleum helicopters inc.) no doubt a good instructor and person. Flying is becoming a drag when I want to go fly and cant because he's busy and he doesnt want me building too much solo time. I enjoy flying and want to get my private certificate, and later my instrument rating. Should I stick with the only instructor close to me or look for other options? One option is tyler pounds KTYR 25 miles from me with several instructors. Thanks for any guidance Dylan
