RE: I can't believe that no one has started an Apollo 11 Thread!
Hats off to people. For a moment we got it together, went there. Left a entire history marking moment. oh yeah, than we ran out of money.. My Dad plated a part that went on a part that made its way onto the backpack of the moonwalkers. 40 years ago we're going on summer vacation driving across the US in a RV watching that same B&W TV by finding the next station on the dial as we rolled. My Dad was one happy man right than. According to his story. Along with the Presidents' plaque on the lander, there's a list of all the contractors that made the backpacks mounted on the backpacks. Well, at least there are things he made that are up there longer than he's been around now. Thought that was cool, even back than. My hat is off and it's time to fly

at least your cheap servos lasted long enough for me to cut out before you went on your free flight last weekend.

RE: What Rossi is this?
Rossi's can idle, they like small props to spin, spin, spin. I used to have a scat cat that I made into a trike setup and used a 9x7 rev-up. it would idle for minutes at a time, than hit the throttle and it would spool up instantly. Never touched the needle once it was set up. But that end piece in muffler will start to wobble and open the end like silly putty, I would just use a hammer ( Ford Wrench ) to crimp the end to hold onto the end cap. Good hard ABC , I dare you to wear it out, dang brass insert for the carb will fall out first

RE: What After Run?
He means when they first came out, like the first year, the bearings were cheap and they rusted just talking about them. But there is a revison to the AX, look at where the back cover screws are, new ones have blind holes with a slightly different passage at that point of the case This happened last year

RE: World Models Cap 232 46R
the wheel pants are a type of ABS that really takes a beating, mine were fine, flying off of grass. the OS will go about 15-20 feet and than go UP, not total crazy 3D up , but really confindant about it

RE: World Models Cap 232 46R
More is better , up to a point, any of ' 46 sized' crankcase type would be fine. Trouble with 60 sized is the case is larger and heavier. Engines like 46, 50, 53, 56 , would help I had a couple of these, you will notice a differance with a tapered airfoil, there a little more unforgiving when you get to the edge of the flight envelope. More areobatic. But they do land and take off nice. Just watch low speed cross wind stuff, some thing where one wing stops flying before the other (snap)

RE: Cold Start Fluid??
Hand start in cold weather? YOU DA' MAN! 6 months from now I'll be spinning my motors with an Electric starter and the real trick, is to have a Radio south glo igniter. It automatically apllies the juice needed. Those single cell Nicad get a little lazy in the cold. Too bad Columbus made the world round. Things were easier when it was flat

RE: Anybody got this plane?
It's all about weight, once your start getting past 5 lb's on 500 sq , a 46 is a dog, on anything

RE: Nelson SS-Q500 wanted
you clamp the muffler in a vice by the inlet, heat the crap out of it with propane, use 40-80 grit sand paper and welding gloves, wrap the long part with the rough sandpaper to grip the tube and do your best with welding gloves to spin it off while it's hot, hot, hot

RE: Nelson SS-Q500 wanted
When we race we just launch off a 4 by 8 sheet of plywood. Here's a couple vid's of us racing OS 46 to get an idea. A nelson would fly out of your hands, and we always land dead stick. So you do not need much to do quickies, just space to land http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbQemK68aYQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weFDLpqbjFY

RE: Nelson SS-Q500 wanted
I will harpoon any attempts at passing. My best bet to beat a LS is to take the whole minute on the ground and burn you down.

RE: Nelson SS-Q500 wanted
there is a big differance between the 2. you'll get lapped once or twice with a SS, but I can tell you exactly after this weekend. I'm going to be racing my SS against LS's this weekend. I can go a couples laps before the LS' s come on

RE: Let me put it this way....
have to answer with a question, which class? true 424 is TT 40, I guess true 428 , better have a Jett or Nelson, but Rossi 40 is legal, you would be in the way though. There about 60 - 70 MPH's too slow come to minnesota, we do OS 46AX, all depends where you race. I'm sure there are others typing right now for there answer

RE: Switch failure Issues with Flight Pack
I wish gold meant gold plated, it's not. It's just a little bigger, tougher switch. Take apart one of those little switchs and judge for yourself what you want spinning around your head.
