RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
If you like Hitec the standard 645's or 985's will work fine. If you want more precision look at the 5645, 7965, 7985, 7955. All of these are metal geared servos. The 7955 has enough power to operate the rudder with only one servo. Use a battery that will give 6 volts to the radio and servos. The cheap route is to get a NiMh battery from Tower like the 3600mah or the 4200mah and plug it into your receiver. If you want to get fancy you and use A123 batteries which are 6.6 volts. Once you get up to the LiIon or Lipo batteries which are 7.4 volt a regulator is required. Use a NiMh or Nicd 4.8 volt 1600~2000mah for the ignition. For safety I recommend a radio ignition shut off like the ones by 42% products and Smartfly.

Anything with about 130 oz in or so with metal gears. I used digitals. The DLE is easy to install and set up in Patty.

All done except for the graphics which are on back order. AUW is 28lbs on the nose. Balance came out perfect without having to move anything.

Bob you made me chuckle with the Zinger prop comment. I have a pair of pliers with padded rubber grips. I use one of the grips under the cap to gently coax it off.

Kudos to you Jody, nice job setting that up and cutting the boot in half. That reminds me I have to go and change one of mine now that I got a new cap in. They don't like being rubbed against the ground at over 100mph. [:-]

A slide rule, wow. I haven't used one of those for at least 30 years. I wonder if a highschool student would even know what one is today.

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
I got my standoffs from Roger Forgues. He makes them any length you want tapped both ends with any thread you wish. I got 3" tapped 5mm both ends. The ones that come with the engine from the factory are 2 and 11/16". They would work if you use some 1/4" to 5/16" spacers. Just google Forgues Research if yo wish to get some custom made ones.. You can see the standoffs I used from him in this post. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7271277

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Go for the DLE 55. If you don't you'll end up wishing you did. It might not look as pretty, but it performs like there is no tomorrow, is very user friendly, easy to set up, and when parts are required they are very inexpensive. BTW it balances with no added weight with the DLE. You'll need 3" standoffs though or extend the ones that come with it by roughly 1/4".

Maybe Bill can try, but it may be too much prop for this engine. It will turn a 20x8 Xoar at around 7200.

Unless it changed over the years it had fully sheeted tail surfaces. If I still had my plans I would pass them on, but I threw them out 2 years ago with a bunch of others.

Not sure, but for 56 cents a foot it sounds good if it does what they say... "Highest quality 'lifetime' translucent blue urethane fuel line. Absolutely will not harden, crack, or become brittle with age. Completely fuel compatible. Will not collapse under pump vacuum. #7011 works cleanly with all CPS fuel lines, valves, quick disconnects, and fittings. Our very best fuel line. Available in three size in rolls up to 1000'. Sold by the foot. Discounts for quantities."

RE: Super Sportster 90/120
I built one back in 1990 and it is still flying today. I originally bult it with an ASP .91 and it is now flying with a 1.20 stroker. If I were to build one again I would use the new OS 1.20AX. Here is a picture of it after about 18 years takin this summer and it still has the original Monokote on it.

It would sure fly nice though. That engine has more power than a 50cc gasser. I would hate to see the fuel bill.[X(]
