RE: XQ Power servos, BEWARE
Yep if you find the correct dealer... most that I know will just replace the servo.

RE: Best Profile for around 200
is the $200 just for the ARF or is it for everything... motor and all?? used. you can get a 20cc profile for that much.. http://redwingrc.com/planes/20cc-Sbach-Profile-DLE.htm or this one. http://www.peakmodel.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_96&products_id=1307

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
I have no doubts that a DLE 20 will fly this plane... but, don't expect it to have super performance. You would probably need to put everything up front to get the CG correct, and it will probably just sit in a hover (no pull out). Now, this is if you get it as light as posible. With a DLE 30 this plane is a monster, so a DLE 20 should be able to fly it, sport like, no 3d.

RE: Redwing 30cc Sbach Build
That's weird... I have built several goldwing kits and the 2.5mm bolts for the ball links on the 30cc planes go through fine for me... The simple fix if they do not fit is to size up the hole... grab a 2.5mm drill bit and go at it... with some needle nose pliers it should be easy to hold the brass ball from moving around. That will save money for new screws. I have some ball links and screws from a 30cc goldwing plane in my hands, the bolts go through fine, it's a tight fit but no drilling needed. Hold on to the old ball links and screws you have... I'll talk with Tim and maybe you can send the old ones to him (on Redwings dime) so he can see exactly what you are talking about, and to prevent the factory from making the mistake again.

RE: Redwing 30cc Sbach Build
I understand your dilemma... and yes I personally know that Tim tried to rectify the situation as best as he could, which ended in the $100.00 refund (as posted by you). If you ask me that is a great deal! I also contacted him and told him to update the pics on the website, they are of the older plane (the first ones he got in from a different factory). Again, The cowling is different because they are made in two different factories... Goldwing did not add the scoop because with the DLE 30cc engine most of it has to be cut off because of the engine Jug. There are good things and bad things with both planes.

RE: Redwing 30cc Sbach Build
ORIGINAL: audi murf I am to far in the build of the GOLDWING plane for him to do anything about it though. The $100 he got back is being spent for new hardware since the supplied hardware was wrong; ball links, nuts and bolts. $25 there from the LHS. These planes are not even close to being the same ones. The cowl, external screws on the bottom, no port to to the motor, shorter. Stabilizer: glued in and NOT removable, wheel pants deffinately not tear dropped, entire inside of the fuse is different. I am still scratching my head trying to figure out how the hell a GOLDWING plane was shipped to him when he ordered from REDWINGS site. http://redwingrc.com/planes/sbach.html I dont see anywhere where it states you may receive a kit from someone else with inferior hardware and not what you ordered. Anyone else EVER have this happen to them when ordering from redwing? I bet not. This plane will not fit in his car without the removable stabs, tried tonight. That means I am stuck hauling it along with my 100 and 50CC planes when we go flying. The Rudder would have fit between the drivers and passenger seat with the stabs removed Does anyone in this thread know if any of the reps from REDWING are on here?
Again, this is a Goldwing Plane (Redwing sells goldwing planes also)... The screws were all internal on the cowling but most people found that it was to hard to get to the bottom two screws, you would have to cut to large holes near them in order to put them in, defeating the purpose of concealing them. I would like to see some pictures of the wheel pants because the ones I've seen look tear dropped. The inside of the fuse is different because this plane is lighter than the older one just about more than a lb. I don't know what you mean by no port to the motor, if you mean the bottom air inlet on the cowling then, it will still be there depending on what type power setup you go with. This plane was more scale then the last one, so the cowling is not as tall, so when installing a 30cc motor upside down you pretty much have to cut the air inlet off. The hardware that comes with the goldwing kits is pretty good, most people like the fiberglass control arms because there is no drilling required. also with the goldwing planes they come with a lot of the stuff pre-done for you.

Different things like, hardware changes, engine motor box size (JC-28 to DLE-30), L-brackets for the landing gear, etc.

Some of the Redwing Planes are goldwing planes.... They used to be modified versions, but as time went on the modifications flowed over to all of the goldwing planes.

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
I'll check with Tim to see if he has any set to the side... but that's typically not one of those highly sought after parts, usually if the wing tube breaks the rest of the plane went along with it.

RE: XQ Power servos, BEWARE
Good review philjac, my findings were similar to yours with these servos... this is where I purchased mine from http://www.sdshobby.net/XQ-6V-Digital-Servo-20KG-56g-With-titanium-alloy-Gear-p-2621.html , and I got mine around the time when they first came out so I'm sure they have made some improvements since then. They even look as though you can get them with a nice Servo box, like the big boys. For the price they can't be beat at this moment, I hope you have good luck with yours, mine is still going great, even after the torture I put it through on the test bench.

RE: RedWing MX2 Build
ORIGINAL: kerwin50 I crashed my MX last night, it was late, I had her out a ways , I did a couple of snaps and when I came out I thought it was right side up with the nose down so I pulled some elev and she did a 1/2 loop and flew into the top of a tree. It took a boom truck and lots of work to get her out. I have a busted wing tip, and 2 holes in the covering. I didn't have the wheel pants or cowl on, so she in relative ok shape though she is soon losing her nice new look. I've beefed my landing gear on it some with fiberglass an 1/16 light ply. This plane can be a sport plane. If someone like me with a neuro musclar disease can fly it then any sport flyler should be able too.
Wow, sorry to hear the bad news Kerwin50. Will you be able to get it back in the air?

RE: RCGF Engines
The numbers look good with that 17x6. It looks to be pretty much the same engine, parts are probably swappable. for the price you can get it at from HK it's a steal.

I like variety... my LHS only carries brands from the big names, I get tired of the same ol stuff all the time. Hobby king is always getting something new to try out, that's what I like about them. (even though sometimes that new thing might be a piece of crap! LOL)

Cool, nice plane, if it flies pretty good on 6S then maybe all you need to go up to is 8S to be good on power. You can get a 70A HV ESC (it has a 105A 10sec burst) from value hobby and that should do the trick. www.valuehobby.com
sorry, I can't say the same, I don't mind them, I use there batteries and motors a lot. They have a large veriety of electronics and servos that most U.S. companies don't have and they sell them a very resonable prices. T.J.

RE: RCGF Engines
Yeah, it seems that HK is making there way over to the U.S. slowly but surely. They are also opening up storefronts, don't know what that means for the LHS, but that would be some very direct competition. Now, with that said, if HK was to fully open it's doors on the U.S and have a fully stocked warehouse and storefronts, employing U.S. citizens would that still make them china sellers?
