RE: Saito 100T RPM's
Just got the 100T off of the test stand after adjusting the valve lash to .003. With 10/18 fuel and a 14X6 MAS wood I'm getting a peak tach reading of 9000 or just a titch over. I can live with that number better than the 8500 I was getting before.

RE: How to rejuvenate a long stored OS 1.08 ?
I'm sure not trying to hijack here but I think the OP has received many useable suggestions. I have an old OS 70 FS that I would like to clean. If I can find an old croc pot that is. Can anyone tell me if ATF and Prestone will both clean a motor? Is one better than another? How hot should it be? I did a trans job on the wife's car and have a couple gallons of old ATF.

Thanx Earl, It ran fine on the test stand and it's back in the Cub ready to go. I think it'll run OK. Dave

RE: IS THIS ENGINE TOAST?
It's got nothing to with the cosmetics of a concealed appearance. You get stress points at sharp edges and could easily lose another piece while running, with catastrophic consequences. [/quote] Good Point. I wish you had made it before I re-assembled and test ran the engine.

RE: IS THIS ENGINE TOAST?
Just took her off the test stand. Seemed to run just like before. I ran it for 40 minutes, 11 oz. of fuel, varying rpm. I think she's going back in the Cub. Gentlemen thank you for all of your assistance / suggestions. At least for now the old girl seems just the same as before, maybe even better. (New bearings you know)

It was an add on in a failed effort to power a fuel pump. I'll check the cam/lifter function as soon as I get the thing back together. Thanks again.

Hi Earl, It's my old OS 70 Surpass. My first 4 stroke. Feels like I murdered my best buddy. I bought this motor in the mid 90's. Know of where I can find a C'case for her? Dave

Ok, got the bearings ordered. Jeeze only 17 and change delivered. Don't I need a puller of some sort to remove the drive washer to get out the front bearing?

RE: Test for Glow Engine Experts
This was a heck of a lot of fun. I personally would never have figured it out. I still can't make the connection as to why removing muffler pressure made it run to empty. Good stuff though and lots -o- fun.

RE: PERRY REGULATOR, WILL IT WORK ON MY OS 70 SURPASS
The check valve is a good idea. I guess I never realized you could get one. My problem with this instalation is the idle. I always felt like the motor was suffering from inconsistant fuel supply when the engine slowed down. At any rate I have installed the regulating pump so I have to try to make it work. Thanks for the advice. Dave

I have a second nipple in the c'case now which I attached to the pump. Should I plug it and just use one put in by OS?

PERRY REGULATOR, WILL IT WORK ON MY OS 70 SURPASS
I've searched the archives for info. on this topic. It appears that there is much debate and disagreement on the function and ability of this little pump. Anyway, not realizing that the pump's intended use was on 2 stroke engines I purchased and installed it (rather than chopping out my instrument panel to raise the tank) hoping to minimize a problem with my fuel tank being much too low. I read a post here that said if I simply put a "T" in the crankcase vent tube that I could power the pump as well as vent my excess oil. This I can't understand. If I vent the crankcase to atmosphere via the "T" how can I create the proper pressure function needed to operate the pump? Sorry for being so wordy here. Can this pump be made to work or should I just start chopping up the cockpit and raise the tank?

Hafidy, Great work. Hope she flies as good as she looks. What engine / prop. are you using? I've been thinking about one of these for a Magnum .52 4 stroke but I don't know about prop clearance.

Yeah I think it looks great. Just the right amount of gloss. I need a new paint system. I just finished my Goldberg cub with Koveral and TF rattle can yellow. I'll just say it was a disappointment. By the way, is that a Sportster in the background?

Doron, I can't speak for every builder but I had to remove a lot of material from the bottom corners and sides to get my cowling to fit back far enough. Good luck on your build. There's lots of skills to be developed with this kit if you don't already have them.
