RE: Club 40 Nats TRASH TALK!!
ORIGINAL: JohnMcGowan Just when Fish and Skully think its safe to go back in the water!.........[:D] here is some of the damage that I suffered from the Harvest, Al race a few weeks ago due to a brand new aileron servo quitting on me in flight. It went down pretty hard in a soybean field at full warp speed. The fuse was in about 8 pieces and the wing lost some of the leading edge and one of the front bays all the way back to the spar and the wing hold down bolts pulled all the way thru the rear leading edge. Yeah, it was sorta ugly, kinda like Skully's big ol' punkin head[X(], but I let it set in a pile for a couple weeks then started accesing the damage about a week and a half ago. I had most of the pieces of the fuse and what I didnt have, I made. About all I lack to do is to clean it all up and re-cover the wing now then re-mount the engine,etc.... The fuse has been recovered from the tail section forward due to the crash, err I mean unscheduled landing. Hopefully she will fly as good as before as things look lined back up fairly well but we'll see. [image][/image]
I feal your pain John I have one that looks a lot like that one even yellow with B/W checker

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
I am finely getting around to putting my NP Falcon 120 togeather. I bought it several years ago and picked up a PST 600R Turbine this spring at a swap meet.. I was glad to find that it only has 46 min run time on it. We had a jet rally at our field this last week with 56 pilots regestered and I got a lot of good advice several there either had a Falcon or use to have one. Everone spoke highly of them. One problem I found to day is the wings do not fit. The left one is ok with a small space at the rear where the wings mates with the fuse., but the right one lacks 1/2 inch. The problem must be in the wing tube where it is glued into the wing. It would be easy to slot the hole in the fuse., but that would just make the left wing not to fit. Has anyone else had this problem? The only options I have come up with is to open up the wing and try to cut the tube out and re-aling it. Another option is to bend the wing tube to fit, this would be the easiest. But that sound like bailing wire and duck tape.

RE: Club 40 Nats TRASH TALK!!
Thinking of ways to make the race more intresting, maybe in the A main you have to make all right hand turns. And no Skully you can't fly it inverted, becaus then you would be turning left!!! Putting the polls on a trolly and keep them moving in and out say from 300 feet to 500 feet. Putting all the planes in a pool and you have to draw a number to see what plane you are flying. Flying it on the 3 poll short course. Greg would probably like this, but most of us would be lost. Any more sugestions? Lets hear them, maybe we will pick the best one and try it.

RE: CLUB 40 MUFFLERS?
Let me do some more checking, but you are probably correct the measurment will be given for a drill bit passing completly through the stinger. But just because yours might be a bit smaller does not mean you can drill it out! I will also give a carberator size also. These sizes will be given from drill bit sizes so no special gage or equipment will be needed

RE: Hico, TX Club 40, August 25, 2012
This is something for the rules committee to go over. I personally have never seen a canopy or evan a wheel come off during a race that I can recall, but it is possible. As I understand the rule there is nothing at this time that would cause the plane to be DQ'ed as long as it was flying safely. Did Jason go on to finish the race in first place and then was DQ'ed?

RE: Are the new Thunder Tiger 40s actually 46s?
Sounds like you have a good one. The fast and easy check is if you can fit a quarter between the cylinder head and case it may be a 46. What prop are you running? We have found the APC 10.5 X 4.5 to be a good prop others have used the APC 10 X 4 & 10 X 5 and got good results recently some of us have been running the APC 9.25 X 6 it will turn 17,000 + and scream It wont pull as hard off the start and you have to fly smothe, but it is fast. Good luck and keep us informed about your races If you can try and make it to the first ever Club 40 National races to be held October 13th & 14th 2012 www.club40nats.com

There are 25 regestered so far. You can check to see who is regestered by going to www.c40nats.com or www.club40nats.com and then clicking on regestration then event club 40 The runway is 75 by 800 paved and the polls are set up like they should be with poll #1 about 100 feet south of the start line and poll #2 300 feet north of the start line. The polls are much closer to the runway than they were in Alabama and calling should be much easer

My thoughts: First on Greg Doe, Greg you have been associated with RC pylon racing for a long time. You should know better than to remove anything from your plane before an after race inspection! If I had been the CD you would have been To see spelling suggestions, click this word DQ,ed. Now as for Bob, You are on the To see spelling suggestions, click this word RCPRO rules committee, you know the rules say " To see spelling suggestions, click this word E-Z" connectors can not be used for control surface linkage. RE: Albuquerque Update
ORIGINAL: ceandra As previously announced, we are working toward a race weekend in Albuquerque August 4-5, 2012. We will offer 424 and 426 on the short course, and EF1 on the EF1 short course (375'). We have built radio-controlled lights (LED traffic lights), and so we have upgraded, no longer planning a "naked" course. We should have plenty of help between our club members and the Civil Air Patrol. We are planning two separate race days, with all three classes offered in separate races Saturday and Sunday. We'll have concessions for lunch, camping is permitted, practice at least Friday after noon (earlier if plenty want it). We have limited shade, suggest you plan to bring a canopy. We had to move back from our normal pit shade due to setback requirements. Looking forward to restoring racing in Albuquerque, Hope you all can make it! Help me figure out what went wrong
Yesterday I lost control of my 1/4 scale Patty To see spelling suggestions, click this word Wagstaff and it went in hard. It was the third flight of the day, and everything had gone well. After making a low fast pass down the runway I pulled up and started to make a left turn. At about 100 feet To see spelling suggestions, click this word AGL it went into a violet spin and death roll. The plane has a To see spelling suggestions, click this word 50cc gas engine and will clime straight up all day long. It went in on its nose and right wing tip, the tail section was not damaged. It has dual To see spelling suggestions, click this word jr digital coreless servos on rudder and elevator. When I walked up on it there was a clicking sound coming from the rudder servos . All other servos were working, but both of the rudder servos are stripped out. Prior to this trip to the field one of the rudder servos was found to have the leads cut and had been soldered back together and covered with heat shrink. How the rudder servo wires got cut in the first place is a mystery, but I assume it was during a repair for when the horizontal stab was damaged with an encounter with a fence while taxiing I will examine the rudder servo wiring today, but could a short in one servo cause the two servos to "fight each other" and cause the crach?

The NV 40 might be a contender. It even looks like a racing engine. They used to be called Norvel, but they are back on the market. I wish they had a bigger intake, the carburetor looks like it belongs on a 25. They still run good and they are blight.
