RE: REDUNDANT POWER-SERVO ISOLATION
Exactly, pull the red wire from the servo leads and run them to a gang connection that is hooked to the larger battery.Still would have to have a common ground for the servos to operate. This would eliminate any servo power going through the rx.I would also be able to charge each battery on its own charger.

RE: REDUNDANT POWER-SERVO ISOLATION
You have to have a ground between servos and rx or the signal will not work. The batteries are not bonded together,The positive is independent on each battery. The common ground is only for the rx to operate the device in the servo that sets the position.

REDUNDANT POWER-SERVO ISOLATION
Can anybody tell me if this diagram looks like it would work for seperating the servo and rx power.Im using high current draw servos {s3305} and would like to keep rx and servo power seperate without buying a Duralite powerbox.

RE: Futaba S3305 Servos ?
ORIGINAL: Bosch232 I don't like them because they have a small amount of slop at nuetral.
When did you check for the"slop"?These are metal gear servo's,under normal flying conditions 80 degrees or higher, these servos are pretty tight. However if you use them in cold climate weather "not recommended" they are very sloppy. The metal gears contract a little in cold weather thus causing slop and vise-versa in warm, hot weather.Whith 99oz of torque in a standard size there hard to beat. I have contacted Futaba for further investigation into Greatplains recommendations. They work fine on Aeileron,Rudder,Elevator with proper gauge wire."Do not ever use a metal gear servo on Throttle".If you do then you will get interference for some reason. It only happens on channel 3 throttle".

Forget what Futaba says.If your running 99oz servo's then you need atleast 2000mah battery or better or you will spike the rx.Read this link from Greatplains,If they recommend them then they ran several test using them. http://www.greatplanes.com/sellsheets/gpm-performance-series-sellsheet.pdf

Forget what Futaba says read this link from Greatplains:http://www.greatplanes.com/sellsheets/gpm-performance-series-sellsheet.pdf If they weren't for aircraft use then Greatplains would not recommend them for the 27% Cap232.

RE: Poulan/Electrolux 46cc
Raising the exhaust port shortens the compression stroke slightly,so in return it does lower the compression a little which is why it losses a little on the bottom end of the rpm range. It also shortens the power stroke, its now at 90%,the intake ports open at 119%,this give a 28% blowdown time or scavadge.Aircraft engines work from mid to upper end, therefore not effecting performance but smoothing out the idle.High compression engines would cause the shake I suppose. This 46 still has real good compression. To better the compression though,Im going to cut another ring grove above the one thats on it now and install a top ring. The piston has plenty of room for this. This will raise the compression heigth and boost power a little more.Iv also widened the transfer ports a little but, did'nt raise them.Ill be hooking up a scale sometime next week to see the the lbs it pulling now.Im going to a 20x8 from a 20x10 to allow a little more rpm's.

RE: Poulan/Electrolux 46cc
The Poulan run good and strong. It does however have bad shake while idleing.Iv played with the carb, but that was not it.I played with the ign. timing, but that was dead on.Then I got to read several forums on porting 2 strokes and port timing. The poulan is set from the factory to be efficient and less air\fuel mixure waste,in other words very little scavage on the exhaust.Dremel time,I raised and widened the exhaust port matching the port itself and giving it a little arch at the top of the port instead of flat like stock.I would figure I raised it about 3\32,and widened it about 1\8.WOW,what a difference this makes.now it runs alot smoother, lost a little bottom end but what an increase on the top.won't get that good of gas milage now but was'nt really aiming on that from the start of this mod.It shook so bad before it broke off one of the elevator horns 6/10 allthread. Now it purrs off idle and pulls like a monster.

Flys like a WildHare Yak.Great plane, planning on putting some lightning holes in the sides of the fuse on the tail.Had to run a heavy APC prop to balance it out.Heres a few more pics.

I bought a bisson custom from hobbydealsusa on ebay. They did'nt have packaging or paperwork on it and did not know exactly what it fit. They did however have the bolt span and mounting flange specs. With there supplied pic and specs I built the muffler in 3D on my computer. With what I came up with it would fit the Lj perfect with a little dremel work. Here's a pic.

Will probably be late October or early November before I take it to the runway. Not really rushing this build.Currently having fun with a small 40 size GP Extra 300S. with a MDS .48.Great little plane, super light and easy to do just about anything I could want it to. I will have some updated pic's soon.I can't believe nobody else has built this LJ-7.I cant wait to fly mine. It's going to be light as well,so far the complete plane without radio or servo's is 11 lbs.I plan on drilling some holes in the landing gear to lighten them up as well.I made mine from 1/4"-2" T-6. It's kinda heavy.Iv also removed all the chock related parts and pluged the holes from the fly-shaft.The chock is not need at all.

RE: AMA Model#00987- The LJ-7 ;Is there anybody building this yet,Post pic's here.
Yes I have mine built.Mine is slightly larger than plans.about a quarter inch per foot larger. The plans call for a 84 inch wing and mine has an 86 inch, plans have 67 inch fuse and mine has a 69 1/2.Im still working on finishing the cowl paint job and setting up the electronics, servo's etc.I built my wing and rear stab from balsa & spruce build-up instead of using foam,Its actually lighter this way.The engine is a poulan 46cc that I made a few mods on plus Roy Sholl electronic ignition.Roy also made me a custom rotor that uses the Zenoah two bolt hubs.He will be adding this to his web site soon.I will be posting pic's soon, already have some if you look at my page.Heres a few pics..

Got the cowl today from Reid's Quality Models.Nice looking cowl.Fit my plane perfect.I was worried about the fit because mine is slightly larger than the plans.About a quarter inch to a foot larger. Now trying to decide what to do about the exhaust.Have only 1 1/4 inch between the firewall and cooling fins on engine.May have to go with a side exhaust. Here's some pics of the cowl.

RE: Poulan/Electrolux 46cc
I got a fish weigh scale today.Did'nt have anyway to get a pull except with the engine on the plane and pulling at the main landing gear.I double checked the scale before using it to make sure it was accurate. It pulled 25 lbs. and just a little bit over.I thought it was thirty pounds, but antway. My engine is far from "stock" Has modified ports, carb work and a micro screen between the sheild and manifold, and will probably pull better with a 22-8 instead of the 20-10 I used. Also this was with no exhaust at all.I don't no which way it will go with exhaust bolted on.I tryed to get my wife to take a picture of the scale while pulling, but she was scared of it,LOL.It is loud with no exhaust. Also my rpm meter busted on me so no telling of the rpm's it was turning.Strait 93 octane with Yamaha synthetic oil@40:1........I was thinking it would be stronger with gas/glow mix,but don't want to mess up the carb with the glow fuel.

RE: Poulan/Electrolux 46cc
I'v noticed that also because I had it polished at the start and it dulled in a couple of weeks. This time I used Mother's brand metal polish and some wax.Maybe it will hold for a while now..I think this is magnesium alloy.I can't believe that Poulan would use this material for a chainsaw engine.Magnesium is half the weight of aluminum and just as strong. Is also expensive compared to other alloys...

Who sells Xoar and are they composite.I like using a wood prop over a composite like APC.Apc's are heavy and help smooth out idle,I don't usually let my engine idol much anyway.I like to fly wide open.Have not tryed a carbon fiber yet.Iv heard that they are very expensive.Yes the 20-6-10 is Pro Zinger.I think Zinger makes a decent prop as well a MasterAirscrew(woody),not the plastic or nylon ones.Do you sell the exhaust for the 46,wraparound style like a bisson?

RE: Poulan/Electrolux 46cc
I will try to get a better way of checking the thrust, but with what Iv done to the carb with the micro screen and discharge tube work in the venturi the transition from idol to wide open is smooth and rapid.Iv also raised the exaust port a tad.The plane's total weight is only 16 lbs. with a 86" wingspan.should do torque rolls at half throttle or so.I mite also be getting one of your exhaust setups for the 46,if I don't get around to making a curved and tucked expansion pipe that I have in mind. You do sell the exaust seperatly?Im using a MasterAirscrew Scimitar Profile 20-10.I will switch up to a 22-8 or 22-6-10 after break'en.Thanks for the input Scott....
