RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
So you balance yours right side up?
ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere We fly from a 290' strip, and It's no problem flying the UF in and out even in calmer conditions. Personally I've never felt the UF was going to stall and you get sooo much information from the feel of the aeroplane through the sticks. I've had some contact about where the balance is measured, so I did this on an UF I'm building now... Dw
RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Yeah But I watch your video and you came in super fast and ran off the end of the runway. I definitely had mine slowed down way more than that but it was still not at a speed that I would've expected a tipstall. I want mine to land at a normal speed so I am not slamming on the brakes trying to get it to stop.
ORIGINAL: basimpsn
If you tip stall the Flash, Ultra or Classic its because the plane got too slow. A rearward CG can exacerbated a tip stall if the plane is already slow and pilot pulls the nose up too much, which obviously induces drag.
Any Jet will tip stall if it gets too slow and try to flare..I only had 5 flight on the Ultra Flash and never experince any tip stall because I fly it or any other jet all the way to final..I do notice with full flaps the back end goes up..not sure if this means its too much flaps. Thanks guys! I am going to fly her tomorrow and just tape the canopy on for now. I will order a new one from Ray next week....assuming all goes well. [:D] The K-80 started right up today. Looking forward to flying her.

getting ready to fly the tornado today and noticed the canopy does not come close to fitting right. sits way to high on the fuse above the ledge on the hatch. i thought i remember seeing there was an aftermarket canopy somewhere. can someone tell me where i can get one.

i used mini servos. added wood blocks and screwed servos to the blocks. had to trim the flange of the opening so only the four corners had exposed areas for the the servo cover to rest on. not sure why they did not just make them bigger.
ORIGINAL: chrispol Anyone build the v3 yet.. trying to figure out how to fir the elev & rudder servos, i have mini servos ds3421 and it seems like you can only fit micro servos unless you enlarge the hatch and make a new cover.... RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Bob Violett told my buddy the Bandit goes faster with a p-60 than a p-70 because the p-60 has more efflux. More thrust will help you accelerate a lot faster though.

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
cg is always the same on a given wing design. more weight in the tail just means more weight needs to go up front to get it to balance, but balance point is the same.
ORIGINAL: back Henry, The CG Twister v3 is the same as v2? the tail is all fiber and added more weight behind it!
RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Yes I did, however I don't even know if its necessary though because I only took out a small portion of the mounting rails and they are very thick to begin with. If I come down on the nose hard enough to break the wood, I will probably have bigger issues. :) I agree, the red and white looks awesome! RE: The new Tornado sport jet
I am using a trailing link, but unfortunately the wheel is not offset enough to fully retract. Even with a couple washers under the front of the retract, it still sticks out.
ORIGINAL: Xairflyer I Like it, the one in the kit is not deep enough for the wheel. If you use a trailing link leg it will fully go i to the fuselage without and mods to the retract mounts. RE: The new Tornado sport jet
It really bothered me that half the nose wheel stuck out the bottom. So with a little dremeling and about a half hour, I was able to carve out some of the nose gear mounting blocks and lower the retract so the wheel fully retracts. I am also making a mold for a new wheel well liner. I will make it out of fiberglass. If anyone needs one I can make one for you for say $20. Brian

Hey, Would you mind snapping a couple pictures of your elevator linkage setup. Thanks, Brian
ORIGINAL: ModellbauUK Tornado  V3 has flown in the UK.  North Weald Aerodrome. Flew on JetsMunt VT80. Awesome combination. I must say this turbine well out performed the turbine I have traditionally flown in the Tornado, Kingtech K80. Alot more quiet & throttle response was first rate.  Tornado groved in the sky and shifted like a rocket, superb big loops. Inverted only about 1 degree of down needed. Slowed to a crawl on landing. Model now ready for Jetpower.
RE: The new Tornado sport jet
I glued blocks to the stock servo mount/hatches and screwed servos to the blocks. I would like to see how guys are doing the linkages and the control horn placment for the rudders and the alevato on V3 though. The only instructions out there only show earlier version with exposed servos.
ORIGINAL: BaldEagel Two ways you can go: build a servo box in the tail or fin and attach to both skins then attach servo to a purpose built/manufactured mount Hysoled to a plate glued to the skins, or build a servo mount on the servo cover and attach the whole thing by the cover screws, not my preferred option. RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Yep. 4-5yrs ago I built a Falcon 120 with a Ram 750. The V3 is different. I just finished hinging mine and made up all the servo mounts. That takes a lot of time. Things should go faster now.
ORIGINAL: PHall I had a Falcon and just received my V3. It might have started as a Falcon but it is not a Falcon now. As soon as I picked up a wing I new then what I had. The Tornado is WELL WORTH THE MONEY. You can't buy it or similar anywhere else for any better price. The little work I will do to it is well worth the $1000+ that I saved.
RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Well of course they should be glued in and I agree with you, but the fact of the matter is they are not and they have been selling them that way for a while now. Either you choose to accept things the way they are and buy as is or just don't buy it. I am a scratch builder so a little glueing and a couple mods is no big deal to me in order to save money and buy an "affordable" turbine. Other guys will pay more to get stuff done right out of the box and/or can't build if it is not an easy assembly process. To each his own.
ORIGINAL: Sparhawk You know, i'm am so tired of hearing people talk about this and comparing the price of this jet with others. And saying its ok that the formers are loose. It its not. It is advertised as a jet arf, not a jet 'kit'. If you are going to do something, then do it right our not at all. I mean how hard is it to have a fuse made and glue the damn formers in right? Now at V3 and its still no better. I have no problem gluing in formers, but some people do. Just because the jet is priced at a bargain doesn't give Modelbau the right to sell bargain quality. Jeez, I need a break from RCU.....
RE: The new Tornado sport jet
Just got word my V3 arrived! I emailed him at 9pm last week to see if he had any left. He said he had 1 more in the Navy scheme and sent me his number. I called him right away to order. Can't wait to get home from my business trip tomorrow and take a look. I didn't even want to mess around.....I ordered the whole package with a K80 kero from Henry and will build per his directions. I can't believe people complain about some loose formers and such. For what you get overall, it's a darn good deal! You can replace the whole airframe for a lot less than what a lot of other companies charge you to replace just a fuse. Brian

A few years ago my buddy gave me his damaged rookie and had inquired whether or not I could leave the canards off of it since I thought it looked much better without them. No one was ever able to give me an answer. So it has just sat in my basement.
