Cool looking radio with nice features. Spektrum will be forced to up their game and come up with a DX9 or DX10 :) Frankly the JR radios have started looking older next to Futaba's radios.

RE: Howto - Dual to Single aileron conversion
Thanks Zeeb. What I have noticed is that many of the 50cc or even the 75cc planes designed for single aileron servos don't have the servo in the exact middle of the aileron. It is more towards the inside (towards the wing root)....almost at the 35-40% mark (If you consider the root to be 0% & wing tip 100%).

Howto - Dual to Single aileron conversion
I have a Lanier Edge 540 87" that was set up originally to accept 2 aileron servos. I am planning to go with a single HD Power 9150 (222 oz/sq in) servo. Which is a better location to run a single servo...the inboard or the outboard servo mount. I compared the wing panel with the wing of an EF Yak 54 88". The placement of the single servo on the Yak is about 1.5" out (towards the wingtip) when compared to the inboard servo location on the Edge. I believe that many have converted their 33% planes to use single servos as well. Thanks.

RE: The new Lanier Edge 87"
I measured the location of the 2 aileron servo locations and compared them to an EF Yak 88". The location of the servo on the EF Yak is about 1.5" away (towards the wing tip) when compared to the inner aileron servo on the Edge. The servo is not centered on the EF Yak but more towards the root of the wing. Apparently there is more pressure on the aileron closest to the root. I think the flex on the aileron is more critical than the location of the servo location. It should be a rocketship with the Evolution 58. Will post reports when I get it in the air.

I believe that you can use the ZDZ drill jig. I am swinging a Xoar 24x8 at 6700RPM on the 4th gallon. Haven't tried the Xoar 24x10. This is on a custom BCM pitts muffler.

RE: DA-85 or DA-100
A DA-100 sounds quieter on stock mufflers than a DA-85 on a pitts muffler.
ORIGINAL: YBP I would choose the 100. like Tired O. M. said u get alot of plane options with the 100. Don´t buy a 2stroke twin for the sound tho. They sound just like the single because both jugs fire at the same time. That´s why the don´t shake so much, they kind of cancel each other out. RE: DA-50 throtle exponential curve
Rcpilot. What you describe is not being anal but people a) not understanding b) being lazy You have hit the nail on the head. If your ATV is 25% on the low end and 110% on the high-end, you have automatically put an expo on the throttle curve. And this is the expo that you DON'T want. First make sure that the butterfly can operate completely without binding. You can still put an expo after that if you want. Happy flying season everyone :D
ORIGINAL: Rcpilot Agree with getting it right mechanically before using the radio. But we're all ASSuming he has it fouled up right now. Haven't seen a pic of his setup yet. I try for linear stick to butterfly movement. Meaning if my high endpoint is 90%, I will adjust the linkage until my low is also 90%. I want the same throw on the top half of the stick as on the bottom half. In a perfect setup, it would have 100% throw in both directions. But that doesn't always work out. Seomtimes 100% throw is too much movement. So that's when I pull the servo horn off and move it a spline or two. Then adjust the length of my pushrod. I'll settle for 90% high and 90% low. You suffer some resolution, but at least it's linear. It's a shame really. Computer radios make some of us lazy. Some guys have no idea how to really set up a linkage with best mechanical travel and actuation. They just dial in 25% on the low and 150% on the high. Then they wonder why all the throttle response is from 1/2 stick and below, but not much throttle change above 1/2 stick. [:o] It all comes back to basic modeling skills and experience. Two things that have gone by the wayside in recent years. Call me anal........ I'll spend 2hrs futzing with a throttle linkage to make sure it's set up mechanically as good as I can get it before I even consider adjusting the radio endpoints. [8|]
RE: Biggest plane and smallest car
Thanks for all the replies. I currently have a V8 Explorer but the 13MPG mileage is hurting and will hurt even more when the gas prices move back up to where they were before. I am considering the Matix because it gives a good mileage and can carry large planes and looks cool too.
ORIGINAL: Bdegan Buddy of mine has the Toyota Matrix. I just confirmed that the front passenger seat folds in the Matrix too. Biggest plane and smallest car
Hey guys, I am thinking of getting a small hatcback like a Toyota Matrix or Jetta wagon. Anyone have any experience with big planes in these cars. Can a 75/85cc class plane like the H9 SU-26MM fit without major surgery every time or should I stick to 50cc planes. Thanks.

RE: Evolution 58gx2
How much heavier is the 58GX2 than the other 50cc motors such as the DA-50 or Area 51. I don't mean the published weight but the actual weight (Engine + ignition) if someone has them. From the published weights, all other things being equal it seems that the 58 is almost 13oz heavier than a DA-50. Thanks.

RE: DA vs. Area 51 vs. DL vs. MT57
Impressive numbers. Only problem is that it's a ***** [:@] to keep the header and tuned pipe from falling apart and coming loose. My flex header cracked twice and you can't even weld these darn things. I had a DA-50, KS-1060 tuned pipe on an original EF Yak-54 87" and wished I just bought a stock muffler. Sometimes the extra 400RPM is not worth the additional complexity of a tuned pipe setup IMO. I know it's a quiter setup, better transition etc. etc. but frankly I got tired of my setup.
ORIGINAL: RC Extreme power {SNIP...} Now here is the kicker, All the new Area 51cc engines I have run got from 6950 to 7050 with a Mejzlik 22-10 and go to about 7200 after about 3 tanks and up from there with stock mufflers, This one got 7450 on the first run with about 2 min run time, It was getting late so I will test a 23-8 Mejzlik tomorrow. RE: DL 100 - New Twin on the Block!!
If sound or noise was the sole criteria, a DA-100 on stock mufflers sounds much quieter (and nicer...might I say) than a DA-85 on stock muffler. Of course this becomes quite a moot point if you are using pipes or cannisters. Personally, I'd take the simplicity of stock mufflers over tuned pipe or cannister setups. I know they sound cool and make more power etc. etc. but for impatient and mechanically challenged people like me, stock setups are the best. If the DL-100 makes as much power as the DA-85 on a stock setup and cost $250 less, it might be a good motor to try out.
ORIGINAL: krayzc-U if power is the same for both (not saying it is) its turns into a weight issue one is about 4 lbs and some change the other is 6 lbs and some change. Some need the weight for balance issue. The DA 85 is smooth so i wont do the internet myth that a twin is smoother as i have 3 twins and the DA-85. Sometimes once a mind is made up on one way or another that is the route that will be taken. I think the 85 is harder to queiten down over a twin but i fly at lowes motor speedway and that means no noiisy police around.....
