RE: copperhead extra woody
Mike, I always set the valves to the minimum. You want them as tight as the feeler gauge will let you. You do not want contact when they are supposed to be seperated, just tight. It takes like 10 minutes.

Yeah, with decent nitro, a 16x4W is the foshizzle. The 15x6 Xoar is also a winner.

RE: Kits and ARFs update!
Busy... Fourth quarter at work is a B-I-T-C-, well you get the picture. I'll have to save up a few bucks. No way I'm going to let the ProYak ARF get past me once it's out. The Edge is very cool, but the ProYak has been calling my name. It's coming soon too, right Mike??? I'd love to have a Razor Yak, but I no longer have an engine for one. I culled the herd this fall. I've decided the 48ish planes is as big as I'm gonna do. The ProYak is in the next batch, right Mike?[:o]

RE: Can you ID this profile bipe?
I did not reinforce mine, but the idea has merit. It's a white foam core fudelage, sheeted in balsa. I'm sure you could get some carbon in there somehow, but I never worried about it. If you send me a direct email addy, I'll send you a copy of the manual. I can't attach a pdf to this post. When you get to make the aileron interconnect pushrods, do not do what the manual says. After it went to print, we came up with a better way...

RE: Can you ID this profile bipe?
That's an Accel Hobby Pitts ARF designed by Quicker. I did some work on the plane. Ask away!!! I still have some pics from my build. Generally: Throws are all you can get. You will want lots of expo, even on the rudder. Literally, start out with like 50% to 60%, pending your experience level. I ended up with like 40% on all. CG is pictured below:

RE: EDGE 540 V3
ORIGINAL: AFSalmon That actually looks like one of Jeremy Chinn's original Boxxer.
Actually the original one was yellow. The one like the picture shown was the beta. Also, Jeremy's Boxxer evolved once even before it was an ARF. The new wing platform in the V2 was a distinct improvement. I've been lucky enough to fly the V1 kit, V2 kit, and the ARF. Each generation has improved over the last. But even with that in mind, Jeremy's red/white/blue V1 Boxxer would have to be pushed pretty hard to get it to snap out. And I'll echo on the prop. a 12x10 is in no way suited to your engine and airframe combo for 3D. A 13x6 or 14x4 would be vastly superior. You will eventually pick a favorite. An 82 on 20% Nitro would be pretty good on the 13x6 or 14x4. If you went to 30%, you could spin a 15x4 with good authority. I've been experimenting with the Pro Zinger 14x5 on 30% juice, and like it. Scale pilots testing profiles.[8|]

RE: Edge540 Whats The Word??
I've had a Rossi 53 and a Rossi 45. Both are good on lower Nitro. About 10% is the max, and 5% would likely be better. #1 Low Nitro. #2 12x4 to 13x4 inch prop. XOAR 12x4 would likely RIP IT!!! #3 Short pipe (black tuned muffler), not full length tuned pipe and not a bolt together Rossi muffler. #4 Tighten the head bolts every now and again. Trust me...[&o]

RE: suggestions for large profile plane
80 Fusion would be a good start. http://www.teamomp.org/video/80fusion1.wmv The Mojo 65 is plenty powerful on a Saito 125. A 180 might turn it into a brick. There is also that Eagle somethig-r-nuther.

RE: Vibration and 4 strokes
First, break the engine in for a bit (40 ounces maybe?), and then tune the low end. The factory has them pretty rich. you want a pretty crisp transition from low to high. for a 72, I like the Pro Zinger 14x4. Next, after about a gallon of fuel, set the valves to the minimum clearance, and retune for a crisp transition. It taks about a gallon for a good break in. Pretty much, I only fly Saitos and electrics now. When new, and rich, they shake pretty good.
