RE:Navion ARF by Seagull
Has anyone seen the Ryan Navion by seagull? My father had one that I flew for many years. The Navion full scale is a great flying airplane and would like to buy the ARF.

I hand start my Saito 150 with a back flip. Starts right up. I've had two moki 210's and always back flip those engine. Never had a starter.

RE: Great Planes 1/4 Giles 202 Questions
brenthampton79 , I was out at the field today and talked to my buddy who has a 160 in his and he really thinks the 120 is too small of a motor. I know you don't want to do 3d but it won't do 3D with a 160. I think your gonna find it's going to be under powered. Best of luck.

I once had the Commander 40 and a Decathlon. They were both great airplanes. I had a OS max 40 in both. I loved doing touch and goes with the Decathlon. Wish I had one now.

RE: Great Planes 1/4 Giles 202 Questions
We've had 4 Giles at are field over the years that I know of and they can be a handful. One fellow had a Moki 180 in his and it was a hot rod but too heavy. These planes are very snappy when you get them a little slow so keep it as light as you can. Another buddy has a OS 160 in his and it does pretty good. I think I'm going with the 160 in mine. Let us know how yours does with the 120.

Hey Ed, I have a Thor 45 I put in my Cap and wish I had my moki 2.10 back. It's been a pain. Do you still have your Super Stearman? My Saito 150 through a rod through the case and just got it back in the Stearman. Mike

Thor 45 expert?
I have a Thor 45 that's been a pain right out of the box. I hung it up in the garage 16 months ago from being pissed off at it. I would like to get it running right or take out on my boat and send it to the bottom of the ocean. It missed like crazy first time running it. Mid range was the worst. I replaced the ign with the auto advance ign which didn't help. I then sent it to a guy in Arizona and he replaced the carb but it runs the same. That's when I put it up. It seems the mid range is rough and it won't turn max rpm. I don't remember the #'s or exactly what it was doing but would like to send it to someone who is a expert and have it looked at. Someone told me the magnet on the crank could be the problem. Mike Anyone know a expert Thor guy?

RE: Pump or cline OS160 ?
I've seen a 180 Moki and a 2.10 due very well on pumps. This guys 210 ran so smooth and never made a burble. I just didn't have much luck with a pump on mine. The GP 202 doesn't due well with a dead stick and my field isn't dead stick friendly so I need a very dependable engine. I can't be adjusting and test flying with dead sticks. My plane will be in the trash well before getting it set right.

Pump or cline OS160 ?
I have a clean GP Giles 202 and have been looking at the 160. It seems like most people pump this engine and have pretty good luck. I had a Moki 210 that I pumped and didn't have the best luck with it. I also tried a cline regulator that flooded the heck out of it. I went with muffler pressure and it ran fine. Does the 160 need to be pumped? Won't it run just fine with muffler pressure? I just hate to make the set up more complicated then it needs to be. Just something else to fail and another dead stick. What do you guys think? Thanks

RE: 1/4 scale gp giles 202 and gas engine?
I've had the same plane hanging over my fire place for a few years now. It only had five flights on it so it's in great shape. It needs a motor and I've been looking at a OS 160 or a saito 150. Let us know how yours flys.

Stick with the 160. I have one hanging over the fire place with no engine in it. A friend of mine had one with a moki 180 it was to heavy and didn't fly well at all. You need to keep it light!!! I'm going to put a 160 in mine.

RE: Best fuel for 4-Stroke glow engines
I was lucky and it happened on the bench. I had just set the top end 300 rpm rich of peak and BANG. The prop free wheeled to a stop. It had about 75 flights on it. I was over the 3 year warranty period so was very happy when it showed up fixed.

RE: Best fuel for 4-Stroke glow engines
I wish I knew the answer. All I can say from my experience is I just had my saito 150 repaired by horizon. It broke a crank pin and the rod came through the case. They don't know what caused it but they fixed it for free. I run powermaster Y/S saito 20/20 fuel. I also use after run oil when done for the day. IT WAS FULL OF RUST!!! I also have a saito 100 that I run powermaster 15% with a blend of castor and synthetic with no problems yet. Kudos to Horizon.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Here's to Horizon for fixing my 4 year old Saito 150 thats been mounted on a Stearman for a year. It has about 75 flights with no problems until 2 weeks ago. I had just set the top end 300 - 400 rpm rich of peak when a loud bang came from the engine and than a free spinning prop came slowly to a stop. This is not good. I turned the prop very slowly and it had no compression.I removed it that night and found a hole in the case. I sent it in to Horizon on the 28th and it showed up today. I was very surprised. I opened the box and low and behold it was fixed. The work order said the crank pin failed and the rod punched a hole in the case. They really didn't know why this happened. They replaced a bearing, rod, case, timing gear and crank. They also found a LOT of rust. I've run powermaster y/s saito 20/20 fuel in it most of it's life. I put after run oil in the vent after almost ever day of flying. And when I know it's not going to fly for a extended period of time I always put oil in the glow plug hole and the case vent line. I really don't know what else to do but use some fuel that has caster oil in it and oil it more. Saito has always stood behind there engines for me.
