Mysteriously Changed Username
Is there a reason my username was changed from TallDude to TallDude. (with a period)? Can it be changed back to TallDude? Also, I sent Plane Insane a avatar (Stewie from Family Guy) I would like to use since my ability to upload an avatar has been stopped by whoever. I believe my username was changed in an attempt to BAN me from RCU and I even had a discussion about this with Michael Kranitz

RE: Hostetler 33% Decathlon
ORIGINAL: Big_Bird Just got back from the field and had a great time. The SD now has 9 flights. Lee, the max roll rate is 1 per 2 seconds. Did a half outside loop starting at low level inverted. Did several flat skidding turns. Full right rudder, 3/4 left aileron, and a little up elevator. Those are really fun to do. This was the first day that I had a headwind (about 10 mph) to land in. Sure was nice otherwise the plane really does like to float. Once again, unlimited vertical but not yet while doing vertical rolls. Get about 4 vertical rolls before it starts to slow down. Even in the 10 mph wind, 3 perfectly round loops are easy to do. Ken
Gorgeous plane Ken!

RE: Do mail magazine reviews get to you too??
Good Topic JohnVH! I agree. I haven't been impressed with the magazine reviews either. It seems to me like they are just printing cookie-cutter type reviews. Its almost like they just fill in the blanks and send it off. The _______ (insert plane here) by _____ (insert manufacturer) was an _____ (easy/hard) build as expected from (previously mentioned manufacturer). Take off was easy with (no/just a touch) of rudder. etc..etc.. etc.. I'm to the point where I just read the last paragraph and search the forums for real opinions of the _____ (plane/engine/accessory) in question.. Oops.. now I'm doing it.

I set my Time Zone (Eastern GMT-5) in the forum preferences but I noticed that the messages are still showing the wrong time zone... any idea what the problem is?

Signatures and other sites
Originally posted by RCadmin Thanks! Likewise here. I don't mind at all if there are other forums or resources that are valuable to RC'ers. Post them here and let others know. RCuniverse can't be the end all be all after all (can it??? RCadmin has evil thoughts of taking over the RC world  ). We'll do our best to provide the best user experience we can here!
Marc, From reading the above message, you are allowing people to post links to other sites and forums, which I appreciate. But why is it that you or one of the moderators keep removing Torqueroll.com from my signature? Is this not allowed? Many other people have links to RC Websites in their signature. Are all of those going to be removed too? Seems to be a bit of a double standard. Just wondering what the rule is.

Try the Gentle Lady! Great first flights.
Three of the first planes I few 25 or so years ago were the Gentle Lady, Piece O Cake, and the Sig Kadet. All of them were great for teaching me the basics with the aid of a good instructor.

From a google image search, I noticed that he flies with the Miracle Strip RC Modelers in Panama City, FL.. There are a couple pics of the plane in the photo section, but I didn't see a pic of the bottom of that particular plane. http://www.miraclestriprcmodelers.org

Drinking and flying
Originally posted by TomM I'm just wondering why everyone is fixated with beer. What about a nice day at the field with a bottle of JD, or MadDog22....discreetly wrapped in a brown paper bag so not to upset the spectators.
JD or Maddog?? Wouldnt a bottle of Thunderbird be more appropriate? LOL! I'll stick with non-alcohic drinks at the field... and then hit the bar later!

T.O.C. Las Vegas
There can only be another TOC if its run by the same great group of hard working people with the same set of rules... Cash sponsorship alone by vendors and manufacturers won't create another Tournament of Champions in my opinion, it will just create another contest. To me, everything would have to be the same, sadly without the generousity and support of Mr. William Bennett :( Just my .02

Drinking and flying
Drinking before or during flying is not a good idea in my opinion. Of course, thats just an opinion and everyone has one. I feel its much better to have a drink after flying if you like. If you stop flying in the afternoon, its closer to happy hour at the bars!!! And since its dark, you can take your other flying buddies with you without taking away their flying time, unless of course they are night fliers. The number one rule is safety, anything that can affect reaction time or control of the plane should be avoided before and during flying. Just my .02
