Educate me on charging Lipos
Everything I have done charging wise with lipos has been charging at 1c. I have been out of the loop lately. Can lipos now be charged at a faster rate safely? If so, does it reuire a certain brand of lipos or a certain charger?

Couple of newbie questions
I've been aware of diesels when I first got into the hobby 30 some years ago. I'm looking at the Cox 049 diesel head from Cox international as well the hardened crank that they sell. Also looking at the head from Mecoa for the OS .40. Would you use the same fuel blend for both, or does the .049 need something different? Whats the difference between diesel at the gas station, and the diesel one would use to make model fuel? Lastly, are there any tutorials on mixing your own fuel...especially in laymans terms? Little confused about percentage vs. by volume vs. by weight

Since we are still talking, what about integrating carbon fiber cloth with the fiberglass for additional strength?

Some technical Cox 049 questions
Can the stock piston/cylinder/glowplug on the choke tube engine be replaced with the TD piston/cylinder and hi comp plug ? With positive results? What about adding Bernies Killer Bee back plate on top of that? Then where will I be performance wise? Q #2 Lets say I have a TD .051 with a worn cylinder and piston. Can I install an .049 TD cyl/piston?

I thought I once read something about not to use the backplate pressure configuration with a throttled engine. Is there any truth to this?

RE: Best Prop?
ORIGINAL: airraptor the best 1/2A prop for sport flying is the APC 5.7x3 prop. gives enough thrust and pitch yet allows it to rev because of the narrow blades. This is a good prop for ya. I have ran Cox 6x3 on cox engines also just depends on the plane. those really small props work best on a plane under 12 ounces and 100 sq inch wing or less. the 6x2 on the novel type give good thrust also but no real speed good for gliders and free flight stuff.
I am flying sport planes such as HOB P-47, ACE Simple P-51 and Ace Mach None. Looking for speed using Cox TD .051, Norvel .061, and slightly modified Cox .049 easy starts or whatever they were called. These planes are all over 12 ounces. I'm gathering that I should be in the 5" diameter range from what you guys are saying.

Best Prop?
Coxengines.ca bases their engine rpm's on 5x3 props (they don't say black or gray). Is the Cox 5x3 considered the best prop for engines such as Sure Start .049, TD .051 and Norvel .061 ? Or do you guys recommend a different brand and size for best overall performance/thrust ?
