RE: clubs and events.. input to an issue i am having
<span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.5pt">That’s the rub. They like the event. A great first year turn out. The Pres just thinks we aren’t making the club as he would like. (Mainly logos...) and wants to but he club's name in front of everything that refers to it. They (officials) made NO offer to ask for volunteers, Gave NO budget, and to this day I have yet to see any of them even asking if they could help bring something to the event. Their only output is allowing the event to take place on the site. I at least have prizes and donations from manufacturing sponsors that I add logos to the website. I guess I am upset that the board has decided to make time to make it harder to but on a successful event, rather than using that energy to make the event more successful. ( which they claim each year they have had enough and are not rerunning.. then call people in to hold it if challenged) the time they waste making sure that the club ( and in reality I think it is the Pres trying to get the recognition) is marketed. I guess what is going to happen is I am going to go back to just flying... let them complain and die off or move. WE were trying to make an event that was going to be known throughout the area that would draw people to a really nice field. It is a fun ‘fly event that runs on minimal staff 3-4 people... but I really feel that all that talk of wanting that type of event was just HOT AIR... and simply something else to constantly complain about. I guess my hobby is model aviation... Theirs is controlling a given group..

clubs and events.. input to an issue i am having
well , its is july.. and although the event is in october and we have the AMA sanction... a few sponsors.. we (the cd's , as we seem to be the only ones who seem to want this) have go to decide..ARE we moving forward. the Host club has somehow felt they are not "marketed" enough and want to make sure we put logos of the club on websites and all flyers. which the flyer does and since the website was changed to save .com it was rushed together and has not been updated tro show a logo. However the club as a history of using a LARGE logo on everything. To me a extra lage logoon a flyer shows a lack of other more important information. Now of course the have no policy yet.. on etheir size or placement. And Our intent was to make an event that is known for its name. most people remember the event , not the club hosting it. one of the other contentions is that the club in its news letters and pictures refersto it as CLUBX's event not the EVENT. wich is not its name. Now when the club was wanting someone to do something and but on an event... that was fine.. but did they offer any funds..NOPE.. did any staff step up to help in any way?...nope...were they there to stick their hands out if any money was left...YEAP.... Has their been any staff trying to help us out this year...NOPE... so i am looking for input... as I feel why am i doing this.. just pay their dues and fly... stop trying to improve anything... yeah they (members) complain they want more members and events, but then do nothing but whine etheir way. thanks, fustrated in tampa

RE: Where is this hobby going
same thread, different year... wah, wah... i have been doing this hobby myself 25+ yrs. I had to ride my bike with my trainer under my arm to school yard to try to fly. What hasn't changed.. what's killing this hobby? those people that can't welcome new people. And everyclub has them and they offset the 10 people there that will help. I had to learn to fly on my own.. WHERE WAS THE HOBBY SHOP TO POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION? i was flying for a while before i even knew there were CLUBS. A world wide hobby and didn't even know there were 4-5 clubs in my area. If i was starting out.. the hobbyshops didn't try to find alternatives to get me going, NO you need this, most likely what ever he needed to sell. THE CLUBS: new kid, guy, whever.. all excited .. how much to join? AMA$,CLUB$,new guy memeber cost$.. just fly my plane? ( enter the parkflyer group exploding here). If you found a club first.. think they could point out swapmeets, auctions... NOPE.. go to the Hobby shop so he can line his pockets too. Now we have members of clubs that don't like new guys, helicopters, 3D, electric, or the fact you haven't been breathing for 60+ years. ask a question? cold shoulder.. sit back and wait for him to crash ( remember the OLD GUY penut galleries, they could fly anything, yet flew nothing but thier mouths.) BEEN A MEMBER.. try to do something to draw in new people.. NOPE...take a flying leap..didn't you know this is our club...OH, then complain each month about how come no one new is coming in. TRY to get youngsters involved , AND I QOUTE" I they can't afford to join , the can't afford to fly"... what a crock.. i'v modified airhogs with rc equip and flew cheap.. no to mention swapmeets or just a passalong plane. SO to stop from making this real long... KEEP TELLING YOURSELF IT'S HobbyKing, Online sales, Aliens from MARS.. IT is the WHERE we get together to fly , and how we act that make this what it is , OR else is just building stuff to hang in your house .. which is nothing more than collecting big stamps. ohh, i love this hobby, meeting new people( some more than others) :)... and trying to help those just trying to start out.... thanks if you didn't take this personally... if you did .. well, you just might be one that needs to hold up a mirror.

RE: Something that I have to ask
ahah, i love it. this is everywhere. but YOU have to change your outlook, ignore the those that aren't worth the time.. there is always someone with more money, more talent, or more experiance. but the good times are when they only have more money. it tends to drain the wallet a little, and since they are "better than you" they never take advice/help.. so you do wat you want. if you think thats bad.. i fly it all , turbine wavier, helicopters, EDF large and small, 3d , foamies.. trainers, ornithopters, paraplanes.. what ever tickles my fancy at the time. so imagine the looks and "tude" i get when i try to help someone and all i brought was a profile foamy that day. enjoy the hobby, find people you like and think alike, and let the other muck around.

RE: Very bad answer from HH service department
if you weren't trying to be the cool guy with the newest toy on the block.. you would have waited for it to come out. they were in such a rush to get them going on the other sites.. it is almost comical. if you want to be the first, you are going to be the beta tester. good luck.. i'm sure GP will fail you sometime in the near future and you can post that.

RE: George Miller F-4 Build - also, welcome George!
i too have a set of those a-10 plans...really love your work. the phantom was one of my favorites and i flew that in denver. i bought it off RCU with one wing missing and rebuilt it and it still flew AWSOME.. and would put a TGA f-15 to shame. i have both the a-10 plans and a NIB f-4 kit... but i was waiting for the electrics to settle down and me to clear projects.. so when i do them i do them right. i also have ahead of them a ETA f-89 that i want to electrify.

RE: RCUniverse vs Facebook
i use face book to try to keep in touch with those locally around me. rcgroups seems to be more active on most thread , BUT RCU has a more active rc jet community. then there are ones like wattflyer.. that seems to be a personal forum of a few people that have to post on every thread. and thin skinned mods and posters to boot. but if you put on an event you tend to have to do them all.

i want to complain about 2.4 systems. 72mhz was always good for an ocational hit, or fequency being stepped on, that it became a natural way to allow you to go one to the next plane.
ORIGINAL: YearningtoFly kid at hobby store sold me 15% synthetic cool power............no castor found manual for motor it says do not run in with synthetic you need castor argh where are my golf clubs
this is why a club is usefull. you would be suprized at the "experts" at a hobby to*#n. and a club allows you to see what is being used and actually works. and cool power is fine. .. and really on that motor on that plane.. break ins are great.. but ususally not needed. the motor will still far out last the plane..

RE: Gas RC was a mistake !!!!
sound like you went to baycity. i fly at trac and live around the erlich/veterans area. some instructors are compatable with all people. some instructors won't even help out an electric. even though i prove i can out perform them with an electric all the time. the instructor sould adapt to you wants and skill levels.. if you want rudder .. then he should be alble to add that in.

RE: does anyone else suffer from the build bug these days
i find i am more of a builder than a flyer. and i fly a lot too. but i am always working on something. IF i run out of money to complete one i move to what i can do on another. if it takes too long i go to a project that completes in a day or two. like a foamy parkjet. right now i am trying to complete a 1/4 scale DR-1... and also palying with a bluecore parkjet. I want to do a modified rfb fan trainer kit next, then a f-89...i also have a GM f-4. and other misc kits i want to start a 747/shuttle combo.... but this gets more compleicated as other kits and planes come along so affordably that i can't pass them up.. and i like to convert to electric .. like a pica fw190-d.. and CBM f16..., pbn nomad, kmp p-38 and its get worse because most don't build at all and kits may be harder to find but no one seems to want to build them .

RE: Heads up elevator failure JetLegent Hawk
so if they put the time into it to make it right.. IT COSTS TOO MUCH.... make it cheap so people will buy it... inferior quality... YOU WONDER WHY... no different from all the other rc groups.... you just loose 5000.00 turbines and get a thinner wallet. but keep complaining, and then we can have annuals on turbine powered aircraft, faa inspections, more waivers, ans so on. i guess it goes back to " don't fly more than you can afford to lose"

i love builders, they spend all that time creating a well built aircraft that is usually one of a kind. that i will then buy at a swap meet for less than any ARF. [:D]

RE: So what would you do in this situation?????
go file a claim with the AMA.. .guess what.. they call that a MID-air... no bodys fault.... and that is what the stated when i submitted a plane that hit a parked airplane. it better to take it with a grain of salt.. you could have nothing left ni a split second.. and you'll probably be all alone. at least you have some story for it...

i have seen a balsa built GM a-10 fly off grass at the Zepher electic fly in... used 2 101mm(himax fans) and 2 5000 mah 6 cells.. had spring air retracts... and convinced me that EDF is really the way to go. it is(was of last sat) hanging in Graves hobby shop in orlando.

now the reason for a bottom hatch on a EDF is it won't be accessed like a IDF. but thats all on your style. if i have to acces a EDF at the feild , espically a large edf.. i propbably better take it home.
