RE: Battery connectors
I currently use deans and personally I think they are one of the harder plugs to solder. I had used Traxxas connectors in the past and found them pretty easy to solder up. Next time I go through and redo my stuff I'll either being going straight bullets or checking out the EC5's.

RE: Which ESC/motor combo for SC10 4x4?
Also the new Viper Copperhead system is coming out in the next few weeks and it's only $150 (doesn't include pro gauge box though) and the team drivers that have been testing it have nothing but good things to say about it. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_221_911_1948/products_id/218869/n/Viper-R-C-Copperhead-R-ESC-VX4R45-4-Pole-550-Sensorless-Brushless-Motor-Combo-4500kV

RE: Which ESC/motor combo for SC10 4x4?
One of the guys at my local track ran a Hobbywing SC8 / Tenshock SC401 4000kV setup in his SC10 4x4 and did very well with it. I'm 99% sure this combo is those products with different branding on it. Personally I went with a sensored setup, but that's really only because I found a used RX8 locally for cheap.

RE: Which ESC/motor combo for SC10 4x4?
Up to you, I run a Tenshock SC411 4600kV in my Losi SCTE and it's fast. Either one will do the job though. Basically those motors are rebranded Tenshock SC401 motors which have had really good reviews. Not sure on the speed controller though...it may be a rebadged Hobbywing SC8? Then you could grab a Thunder AC6 charger and a Gens Ace lipo from hobbypartz and still be within your budget.

RE: Thinking of getting a mini 8ight.
A few guys at my local track have grabbed these and are running them on 3S with no modifications and they look like a lot of fun. They're actually pretty tough cars for how small they are. They are probably going to start running a class for them at our track too. I might be grabbing one in the near future.
ORIGINAL: Haddi Taha why would charger manufactures give you the option to non balance charge a 2s+ lipo if you can balance charge?
Because balance charging takes longer. A lot of people do not balance charge their packs while their in the field for example racing at a track. I myself only balance charge my packs for storage (ie. after racing/practicing), but while I'm at the track I just fast charge them. Edit: Didn't see TBJ's post on this, but either way +1.

I also had a Hyper10SC and that truck was very solid and prior to owning my Losi was my favorite 4wd SC trucks. Either way, I'm in no way telling someone not to buy an Ofna just offering my personal experiences/opinions on trucks that I've actually owned and raced.

RE: ten-scte motor question please
I run a Ballistic 4.5 in mine, but as TBJ said the Tekin Pro4's are really nice. I have read a lot about them being really tough on batteries though, but most people that have had issues are running the 4600. If you're not set on a sensored motor Viper has some really nice motors (R45 & R51) coming out in about 2 weeks that are 4 pole 550 size motors and you can get a ESC/Motor for $150. If you're looking to stay sensored I would take a look at the Tenshock SC411's for $90 I've heard really good things about them so far to.

RE: SC 4x4
Basically after all the research I did before buying the Losi over the AE came down to this. Losi = Handles great right out of the box and needs few upgrades if any to be competitive. AE = Might be nicer on a tight indoor track due to it having more steering (sometimes too much), but everyone says they're a pain to work on and require quite a bit of tuning and "upgrades" to get it to be competitive. Some people mentioned the Ofna's...my personal experience with them is less than stellar. In 3 trips to the track with my Nexx10SC I managed to break the same PBS part on all 3 trips. Worst part is I'm a smooth driver and barely wreck, but a slight brush with the tubing would eat those PBS balls which in turn would mean you're replacing a lower arm since the post snaps in the arm. Slash 4x4 is great for bashing and that's about it in my opinion since the amount of money you would have to spend in upgrades to make it competitive is comparable to buying a new Losi or AE roller. One plus to the Slash is it's waterproof, but it never rains indoors :) If you get the Losi it sounds like you'll want to put the Lane or Phend setup on it on a indoor clay track. I myself put the Phend setup on mine and it handles awesome. It's by far the best 4x4 SC I've owned and I've had 2 Slash 4x4's, Hyper 10SC, 2 x Jammin SCRT10 and a Ofna Nexx10SC.

If you want to run 2S for racing people usually run 20T pinions on that motor which is the largest pinion that will work with the stock motor mount.

RE: *** Need your opinion ***
Since I've owned all the items you're asking about including the Jammin and also a Nexx10SC I'll offer my opinion. Keep your 1410, it's stronger than the Tekin SC4X (I had the 4.5). You're talking about going from a 4 pole to a 2 pole motor. ESC wise, I really like the MMP other than the weak internal BEC. I was able to fix my glitchy servo issue by adding a Spektrum cap to my receiver, but many prefer to go with the external BEC. With that being said, I will be buying one of the Viper Coppperhead R45 combos when they come out...haven't used it, but it sure looks good especially for $150.

RE: SC10 4x4???
ORIGINAL: thehuntingterminator I really like the look and price point of the SC10 4x4 kit. For around $260 it seems like a good deal for someone like me. I could throw whatever electronics I have at the time in it, and then get some quality stuff at Xmas. I'm thinking about buying around October. Should I spend the cash for it or just save for something else?
It's really up to you...I'm not aware of any glaring issues with the SC10 4x4 and since it just came out it's probably safe to say AE won't be releasing a new model in the near future. I myself am partial to Ofna SC trucks and am planning on getting a Nexx 10SC in the near future.

RE: Lipo Dilemna
ORIGINAL: hchytd Thanks - here's what I mean. The connectors that come with this battery seem to have EC2 ends - but also seem interchangeable. Since I am going straight into a Velineon ESC with Traxxas connector I am guessing I need to find a battery connector that is banana on one end and traxxas female on the other, yes? If so, can anyone find me a link to one to buy? (please!)
ORIGINAL: sloppyG if you could get a slash 4x4 going 70-80 (which I doubt with that huge parachute body), it'd be completely uncontrollable and would be out of site and range in just a couple seconds there's no reason to have an RC going that fast, it's just begging to turn your $400 RC into a cloud of parts and/or cause some property damage to whatever it hits at 70, you'll have no control of a slash
+1 I think the other guy is confusing two things...does the Mamba Monster have enough power to push a vehicle to 70+ mph?...yes. RE: slash 4x4 mamba pro sct or mamba monster
ORIGINAL: jeepkid12345 isnt the mamba monster 1/8 scale?
Yes it's intended for 1/8 scale applications, but will work fine in 1/10th scale, it's just a little bigger and will run cooler. If money is no object get the Monster, but if you are on any type of budget the MMP will do just fine in a Slash 4x4 as some people use them in 1/8th scale applications also. From what I've read people seem to like the MMP and Neu 1410 in the Slash 4x4, but I've also heard good things about the MMP SCT combo (Neu 1415 motor).

RE: slash 4x4 mamba pro sct or mamba monster
The MMP SCT is just a restickered MMP so it's not really all that "new". Other than the BEC issues depending on what servo you run MMP should be plenty. Although as stated above me not sure on those speeds, but that would depend more on the rest of your setup and less about whether you choose the MMM or MMP.
