RE: 1 st low wing
Too bad Bruce Tharpe doesn't offer the Venture anymore. But the Goldberg Tiger 60 would be great as would a Four Star.

RE: Fuel Line?
I just got some of the Hayes from Tower to try and it looks kind of flattened out. I'm afraid to try it after hearing some of the comments about it. Maybe I will get some Viton tubing.

RE: Club FOX!
Just to report to the Fox fans that I maidened my Goldberg Anniversary cub last week with a Fox 45. This is a great little engine and it gets better with every flight. The instruction sheet says 1991 on it so I guess that is about when it was built. A fellow wanted to buy the airplane after he saw it fly, but I told him the engine wasn't for sale...

RE: New 50CC Gasoline Engine from O.S. !!
Its listed on the Tower website, no picture yet. With a little bit of a discount, the price doesn't sound totally out of reason if it performs at the top of its class.

Well if you hurry, you can have it ready to fly by the meeting time. It ought to be ballistic with the 55!

RE: Great Planes Z-526 ZLIN Akrobat Build Thread
Well, my Aussie pal[:D], I have a couple of ARFs that have a perfect covering job, with no wrinkles at all out of the box, so the bar has been raised as far as my expectations of what a high quality ARF can be. But I will cut any manufacturer some slack, since sitting in a shipping container for weeks during the hot summer and then coming to a different country with high or low humidity will cause wrinkles on even the best covering job, ha, ha. But they should be able to be ironed out without the wrinles reappearing, if the covering is of a good quality and put on right. I am awaiting Matt's verdict on how easily he got this bird cleaned back up. Otherwise, it looks like a really nicely done plane.

RE: BH models Extra 300 advice and wheel size
I haven't seen this plane, but I wouldn't think you would have to epoxy the wing tube into the fuselage. It should just slide into the cardboard tube when you are ready to put the wing on.

RE: Great Planes Z-526 ZLIN Akrobat Build Thread
I will agree that sometimes the picture looks worse than the real thing. I have a Great Planes Ryan that is a few years old, but there are a couple of wrinkles that would never come out due to the covering not being applied correctly. I hope the newer planes would have a better covering job. There has also been some talk about some of the Great Planes not having real Monokote on them. This is the main reason for my scepticism. I do think this is a beautiful plane and hope to hear soon about how well it flys for you.

RE: Motor problems OS FS 120 on 1/4 cub
I had an older OS 120 and it really liked the tank being as close to the engine as possible since it didn't have a muffler pressure tap. Be sure you use a four stroke plug and fuel with a little nitro in it.

RE: BH models Extra 300 advice and wheel size
I have the BH Leki, and 3 and 1/4 inch lightweight wheels work real well on our grass field. Good luck, and if yours flys as good as my Leki, you will be liking this plane.

RE: Fastest servos for .50 sized aerobatic airplanes
Yeah, just keep the servos you have and invest in a good 6volt battery pack. You will definitely feel a big difference in speed and power.

RE: World Models P-40 Warhawk
I have to agree. After seeing their pretty nice looking Corsair, I had expected more from them. Though I will have to admit that this opinion is strictly from looking at the picture. I haven't seen one in person.

RE: Hitec 2.4Ghz Module/RX combo arrival
Yeah, you're right, Carrell. Several of my planes use up all 8 channels. And later on, all this equipment will work with the Aurora radio when the upgrade bug bites harder.

RE: Mac Hodges B-29 Lives again!! 2009
Blew a tire off on takeoff, didn't miss a lick, and a perfect landing!! I was wondering why the flight was so short but later heard the 100s suck the tanks dry fast. Please come back to Bomber Field next year.

RE: Great Planes Re-release of the Shoestring
Well the original kit was Monokote covered. I don't see anything that says this one has Monokote on the covered parts. I think I will beg off after hearing about the covering on some of the other Great Planes that have come out lately.

RE: 50cc Selection Help
Well, I may have to retract my suggestion. I have been reading about the covering issues on the newer GP arfs. I have a Ryan STA and it has real Monokote on it. I didn't know that some of the Great Planes have been using an inferior material. To me, that is the most important thing in choosing an expensive ARF and that is that the covering is decent enough to last a few seasons without rotting off, blowing away, or getting brittle. I have one little Cap that is a fine flying plane but it always looks like a prune with all the wrinkles that won't come out. I have a Hangar 9 that is at least 5 years old with Ultrakote on it that still looks great. So get an airframe that you know something about how they hold up. They will all fly good enough, I reckon. And you are ready to move up if you can fly what you already have.

RE: 50cc Selection Help
How about the Great Planes Reactor? Its not scale but I saw a low time pilot flying one of these and he was really enthused about how easy it was to fly. He has a DL50 on it and it would really perform. [link]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUSE0&P=SM[/link]

RE: Exceed RC 6-Ch 2.4Ghz Radio?
There was a mention of this system in the AMA(?) magazine in the last month or so. I don't have the magazine anymore to reference, but it seemed as though it worked ok and as long as you had a laptop at the field to program it with. I would maybe try one on a foamie to see how it worked.
