RE: Hobby People's VQ-Global 28% Fly Baby ARF
Wow, its not worth that much! There's nothing magic in the tube, ha, ha. Maybe they can't sell it in California because it gives laboratory rats cancer if they smoke it or something.

RE: Upgrading to a new radio
Well, the industry has moved on to 2.4, but there are still a lot of flyers using 72 mhz with great results. Depending on where you plan on flying, there should be no reason why you couldn't use the Airtronics radio, at least for as long as it be before you decided you were interested in staying in the hobby. Now if you are saying that you just have a transmitter and no receiver, then it might be judicious to move to 2.4 and not sink any more money in the old radio. There are several "hack" conversions but I would be a little careful with some of the lower end 2.4 systems. I have seen some that worked ok but others have been problematic. Right now it is a buyer's market on 6- 8 channel radios with various features. I really suggest visiting some of the local flying fields and seeing what the fellows in your area are using before tieing up any big cash.

RE: G-62
I've swapped props between my DLE55 and G62 without any problems. I don't stand beside the engine when it is running regardless. I have seen a brand new prop that wasn't drilled come apart before. Don't want to be in the way of that projectile!

RE: Need engine advice for a big-un
There is a Reactor around here that started its life with an OS 1.60 in the nose. It flew fine but the owner got tired of feeding the thirsty glow engine. It was passed on to the new owner and it wound up with a DLE 55. He is not a 3d pilot but has a good time sport flying this plane. The DLE is happy just flying around at low throttle settings, it doesn't care. I have a Saito 1.80 in a scale plane almost as big as the Reactor and it has plenty of power. I'm sure it would fly the Reactor just fine except for the 3d maneuvers.

RE: What might it be worth?
Yeah, there are some Futabas that are only rated for 4.8 volts. I'd hate to burn out my elevator servo in the middle of a split "S". Maybe put it on the rudder and see what happens? I'd get a decent metal gear servo for the elevator of a plane this size. The 9202s are probably ok for the ailerons. But I'm sure you will get differing opinions on this. I like metal gear servos on any control surface of a large aircraft.

RE: What might it be worth?
I forgot to say that my buddy has the old Hangar 9 Super cub and it is a really great flying plane. I am the only person to have flown it, ha, ha. The yellow cub ought to be just as much fun, and the 1.80 should be just right for scale power plus a little bit extra.

RE: DLE 55 Crank Broke in Flight
Yeah with a warranty I would send it in. There might be hidden damage once it is disassembled. Maybe they will just give you a new engine.

RE: What might it be worth?
Around here any ARF out of the box is selling for really low bottom dollar. And try to sell a big four stroke engine! But this would be a great flying combo and I love my Saito 1.80 and the way it sounds in the air. I would think $500 would be a generous offer.

RE: Servo Jitter
Every company sends out a dog every now and then. My buddy had a name brand high end servo bad right out of the box some time back. Don't lose confidence in the 645s, I have some on a plane with many many trouble free flights.

RE: Servo question
Any decent standard servo would be fine in the Cub. I pay extra for the ball bearing models though, worth it in the long run. I have Futaba 3004s in my Cub. A .60 two stroke might be a little overkill for an Anniversary Cub. Mine flies real well on an old Fox .45. I couldn't see needing any more power than that. Good luck with yours.

RE: Best 30 to 35 cc
There is a video of the new DLE 35 on youtube. Looks pretty impressive, and it should have more power than the 30cc side exhaust. It all depends on how much you want to spend. DLE is the most respected Chinese engine around where I fly and I am happy with mine. I haven't seen an O.S. 33gt yet but it should be a good one except for the initial price and parts costs down the road. There is one Syssa 30 here and the owner is pretty happy with it so far. PTE, RCGF, SE?? I just haven't seen enough of them to know for myself.

RE: Maiden Flight of my MX2 for Father's Day, Nerves are SHOT!
You know, if it really bothers you, get one of the experienced flyers at your field to fly the maiden for you. They will be emotionally detached and probably would handle the plane better until you get your nerves in check. My flying buddy has me maiden all his new planes. Not that he can't fly pretty dang well, its just that he gets pretty nervous but as soon as I take it up and trim it out a little, he's ready to take over and does just fine. It is not a lack of experience just a "mental" thing... Good luck with yours regardless. P.S. I maidened my 50cc MX2 a few weeks ago and it was a piece of cake. Great flying plane. Just keep a little airspeed on final.

Sort of like the old Roadrunner design, but these have an airfoiled horizontal stabilizer. Might need a G62 to get this plane off the ground, ha, ha.
