RE: fourtune 612 II
Believe me, unless you drop your boat from a great height, stand on it or run over it with the car you wont need a replacement hull

RE: KMP Pilatus PC-21 Build
Hi Kinverflyer, I know your post was over 4 months ago but I am just getting my PC21 sorted out now. Power will be an 0S200 P. I was just wondering what you did for the muffler installation. Did you use the stock muffler? Do you (or maybe other members) have pictures of the finished engine install showing the muffler. Seems to me that to fit the stock OS2000 muffler there is a lot of cowl to cut. Has anyone used a Slimline or similar in cowl muffler? Looking for some feedback before I start cutting! TF

RE: CMPro T-34 Build
We have had the T34 kits here for about 6 months now. We have had no issues at all with the standard retracts but, most of our airfields are sealed. The two formers under the cockpit floor are perforated for easy removal. They are only there to align the fuselage while it is being jigged. All in all a good model with good flying characteristics and good value for money. Well done CMPro! TF

RE: for anybody thinking of buying a new heres one NOT TO BUY
Sorry to hear about your problems with the new boat. Unfortunately the sort of problems you encountered are all too commom for some of these chinese boat imports. Your hobby store should accept some responsibility for the faulty muffler but regrettably the loss (sinking) of the hatch is probably going to be blamed on you for not ensuring there was adequate flotation fitted. The store should have told you about adding flotation as there is usually none provided when you buy these boats. Contact the store and tell them of your poblems and let us all know what there reaction is. If they are TRUE hobby guys they will help.

Thanks Bill. We are metric here. Any idea what those dimensions are in metric? A Zen exhaust manifold bolt spacing is about 33 millimeters center to center.

Does anybody have the manifold bolt spacing for a Homelite engine? Is the spacing a little bit smaller or a little bit larger than a Zenoah manifold?

RE: my new boat [help wanted]
You have one of the Chinese made gas boats with a weed whacker type engine installed. The engine will give you good reliable service but will not push that hull you have very fast. There are two needles for adjustment . The low speed needle is located inside the carb cable control (on top of the carb) and has been thread locked in the correct position and shouldnt need adjusting. The other needle is located on the side of the cab and is the high speed needle. To set this one run the engine at full throttle and adjust the needle until the engine reaches maximum revs then back it off about a quarter turn from this point and it should be fine. To start the engine prime it first by pushing the rubberized fuel primer on the underside of the carb. Open the throttle slightly and it should fire up after 4 or 5 pulls. Beware of the spinning prop even though these boats have a clutch. Dont forget to mix oil with the gasoline fuel at a ratio of about 30 to 1. Remove the flex shaft and lubricate it with machine oil or grease. Thats about it for the engine. If you get any radio glitching check the spark plug. Some of these boats did not have a resistor type plug installed. There should be an "R" somewhere in the plug number. If you are new to RC gas boats this boat will be a lot of fun. Make sure you check everything for tightness before you use it (nuts and bolts etc) as they often come loose. You may also need to fit an auto bailer as some of these boats leak around the top of the flex shaft. Have fun !

RE: Help identify new boat+engine!!
The boat you have is manufactured by Purple Light in China. The engine you have in the boat is a Chinese made weed wacker engine that has been converted to marine use with a very small water jacket. The engine does get hot but as long as there is water circulating it will be OK. The engine is quite reliable but is slow. A Zenoah 26PUM carb is a direct fit and will help to improve performance a bit but not much with just the carb mod alone. The engine can be modified to perform better but will never match the speed of a Zenoah. If you do decide to upgrade the engine and fit a Zenoah you will need to strengthen the hull. Once you push these standard hulls a bit they will break. They are made from polyester not epoxy and are very thin. The boat hull you have handles very well at speed and corners exceptionally well. So, there is potential there but do the strengthening or you will be dissapointed. I almsot forgot to mention the shaft problem you describe. The grinding you mention is caused by the bearings in the strut that have collapsed and broken.

RE: what is this boat ???
You probably wont find a website for this engine but it is similar to many that are commonly available. Some of the parts are interchangeable with Zenoah but I am sure your local motor mower repair shop can help with parts and repairs. As for mods I cant help you there I am sorry. For the tuned pipe the bolt spacings for the exhaust manifold are NOT the same as a Zenoah so a manifold to fit may be hard to find.

RE: what is this boat ???
We have these Chinese boats here in Thailand but we have the deep vee version. As has been mentioned before they LOOK great but you will probably be disappointed once you start using it. The engine is a weed whacker type engine that actually performs quite well but is slow. We modify these by porting and polishing, adjusting the timing, removing the cylinder gasket and replacing with a liquid gasket and fitting a Zenoah carb. Once they are modified they are about twice as fast as standard but no where near as fast as a stock Zenoah with a pipe. When you start going faster the next thing to break will be the drive shaft or the bearings in the shaft strut. We replace these with standard 6mm shafts similar to WHH spec and replace the bearings with bushes. You also need to upgrade or drill out the props. We fit prather 275's which have been balanced and sharpened. To be fair, the prop that comes with them is not too bad. Then, if you head to a place with a few (small) waves and push it hard the hull will start to flex and the paint will chip off. When you examine the hull you will see that in many places the paint is thicker than the fiberglass which is not epoxy but polyester. We re-glass the inside of the hulls with epoxy and chopped strand mat Now it all sounds like bad news but until you start to push these boats a bit faster than their design spec they are a lot of fun. But here is the best part. If you add up the price of all the mods, repairs and replacement parts plus the labor, you have spent MORE than it would have cost to buy a Super G and maybe even a Team Pro kit from WHH and you still dont have a boat that is as strong or as fast. The catamaran in the picture looks great but the engine is way underpowered for it. A similar sized cat with a Zenoah will pass you as if you are standing still. We now buy the bare hulls and fit and finish them ourselves with M Boat harware and Zenoah engines.
