RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Hi Detlef, I have a 215 Moki 5 cylinder which has never been run and I am sure it is an early one as the test certificate is dated 1999. After reading through this thread it looks like I have a few changes to make before I run this engine such as replace cam followers, use electric pump and remove the old grease from the front housing and replace it with the grease or gear oil. What Grease / oil are you using in your Radials? From the thread I know it is a thick oil but I could not find a specification for it. (Apologies if I have missed it reading through this thread) Do you have any other recommendations I should follow before using this 1999 Moki? Regards Arthur

RE: 1700SP Upgraded to Gaspar ECU
Hi Vampire, I am thinking about using the Gasper ecu with my simjet 2300. Do you see any problems with this? is it possible to use the existing RPM sensor? if not can the Gasper sensor be used to pick up the existing magnets? Best regards Arthur

RE: Two new F3A outrunners from Hacker
Is anyone finding the propshaft on the Q80 too short? When I have the spinner backplate, APC prop and the supplied prop washer fitted I can only get the prop nut on and there is no chance of getting the locknut/ spinner attactchment fitted. It looks like I will need to use a thinner prop washer but even this will only let the locknut on a couple of threads. Has anyone else found this? Regards Arthur

RE: Two new F3A outrunners from Hacker
Has anyone flown the Q80 yet? Are you solid mounting these motors or rubber mounting them? If rubber mounting them are you using a rear support? I have just received my motor and I am trying to work out what will be best. Regards Arthur

RE: Painting the JMP Firebird, a tutorial
Hi Jeremy, Thanks for passing all this great information on to us. I notice in of the pictures you are not using an air pressure fed mask which I thought was necessary for these types of paint. Can you tell us the type of mask you are using as I hate using the air fed mask. Regards Arthur

RE: Oxai Beryll Instruction Manual.
Thanks Guys I have them marked now I was thinking that there may be a drawing with the measurements as I had for my Oxalys. As this is an early Beryll, I am making a foam crutch to stiffen the fuselage as in the newer version. I would be gratefull for any other advice for this model. Regards Arthur

Oxai Beryll Instruction Manual.
Can anyone tell me where I can download an instruction manual for the Beryll? I have looked arround the Oxai web site but can not find one to download. I recently purchased a used Beryll EP and there was no instruction manual included. The main information that I require is where to mount the control horns. I dont want to drill in the wrong place and find that the mounting blocks are not there. Also what horns are recomended? Regards Arthur

RE: Futaba FASST feedback and TESTING
Thanks John, Thats not what Ripmax told me last week I was told there would be no problem flying at events in the UK with the US supplied equipment. Its just as well we managed to pick one up here in the UK.

RE: Futaba FASST feedback and TESTING
John, You would be better to call Ripmax technical dept. yourself to confirm this but I was told the the 12Z with 2.4 module bought in America was no different to those sold in the UK. Same output power markings etc. I was also told that there would be no problem using these sets at events in the UK. Originaly I thought that modules supplied in the UK had a lower output power but maybe that is just the spectrum modules. There will be a problem using the 35MHZ modules because of the area codes.

RE: Futaba FASST feedback and TESTING
Paul I called Ripmax last week asking the same question as I was looking for a 12Z and there are none left in the UK but they can still be purchased in the USA. They said there is no difference whatsoever and they have all the correct markings etc. They also said that it was okay to use them in the UK. The only problem would be if I fitted a 35MHZ module due to the area coding. Also they said that they would not do any warranty repairs.

RE: Futaba FASST 6
Finally managed to get out and fly my comp arf Flash and Extra on Fast 2.4 today, No problems it just works really well. Its a great feeling knowing that no one can shoot you down. I did have one close thing with the flash but it was nothing to do with the radio. My ECU battery (4500 nimh) decided to self destruct. I managed to get it out of the airframe without damage. There was no damage to the wiring so there must have been an internal short circuit in the battery. Thankfully it was on the ground at the time. Arthur

RE: Futaba FASST 6
Hi Mark, I did consider leaving the ends of the aerials sticking up unsupported but thought they were to fragile. The tubing and wood could possibly cause some loss of signal as it is another solid it must pass through. Even although it is turbine powered there is still some vibration on take off etc. Arthur

RE: Futaba FASST 6
Hi Paul, I have posted a couple of photographs showing my 2.4 Fast installation in my flash. I have positioned the aerials up behind the dashboard as i was worried about the carbon on the sides of the fuselage and around the noseleg. Do you see anything that may cause problems with this installation? The aircraft has flown on 35mhz but 2.4 test flight could be later today if the weather improves.

Has anyone any photographs of their 2.4 FAST instalation in a comp arf Flash? I have had about 12 faultless flights in my old harpoon with 2.4 FAST so I am now ready to change my Flash over to 2.4 and it would be nice to see other proven instalations. Regards Arthur

RE: Futaba FASST feedback and TESTING
I have just started using the Futaba Tm 14 module and R6014FS receivers with my 12Z. This weekend I tested them out in an old prop plane which was fitted with futaba servos and all worked very well. I am about to convert my jets and large petrol Aircraft to 2.4 which are all fitted with Jr servo''s, but having read on other threads about servo compatability due to the receiver signal output voltages being lower I am concerned there may be a problem. Has anyone had any problems using JR digital and analogue servos with the R6014FS receiver? Regards Arthur

RE: More solidworks for those with interest (cut out part tonight)
Charlie, I am just a beginer in Solidworks, I used to use Autocad a few years ago but not in 3d. From what I remember from learning autocad Solidworks is much easier. I purchased a book called Inside Solidworks by David Murray so between the book and solidworks help files I have managed to pick up the basics. It is time consuming but it is another interesting aspect to the hobby, Arthur

RE: More solidworks for those with interest (cut out part tonight)
Hi Sean, Looks great, your certainly getting to grips with soldworks. I did something similar last week to make a plug for wheel wells. As I did not have any ball end cutters I did a test run using a 1/2" slot drill so the radiuses were not a smooth as they should have been. When I have machined it with the ball end cutters I shall post some pictures. I used Meshcam (you get a 56 day free trial period) to generate the tool path from solidworks. Meshcam generates the complete toolpath automatically. Next time I will try Mastercam if I can figure it out how to do it. I have just finished converting my lathe to run on Mach3 so more toys to play with. regards Arthur

RE: Schulze Chamaleon
Thanks Jason, I have just had a look inside my charger and it is different. (636 chamaelon) Also the previous repair must have been made using SMT caps so it is not obvious which ones were changed. I will have a closer look tonight to see if I can find any similarity in the caps arround the O/P. regards Arthur
