RE: Axial Ridgecrest upgrades
ORIGINAL: jwm4344 Hey guys, I recently purchased an axial ridgecrest and am looking for upgrades. I have found some but I would like to if the upgrades on the wraith are interchangeable with the ridgecrest?
I'm pretty sure that the ridgecrest uses wraith axles with a ax10 transmission.

RE: Tamiya TXT-2 Agrios Build thread
ORIGINAL: Starkweather The clod wheels have a little less offset that txt wheels. On full steering lock, the tires are almost touching the springs, so they are rubbing. I dont know what to do about this. What i want to do is get a set of txt wheels. Plastic ones, none of that aluminum business. Problem is, i cant find them ANYWHERE. Any idea how i could widen this thing just a HAIR? Ive seen the wideners but i have no idea what to run for a stub axle. Guess ill find out later today how she drives on the kit wheels and tires :( what other wheel options do i have? Im feeling frustrated and clueless now. Grrr.
You may have to use wideners. Juggernaut wheels would probably help, but those are even harder to find(except for the aluminum ones). Wideners often use the stock stub axles with barrel nuts. Those are like bolts, but are threaded on the inside to reach the threads of your stub axles. [image]http://www.beadlok.com/product/images/Auua01/Auua2/4WD_8748.jpg[/image] Barrel nut.

RE: Tamiya TXT-2 Agrios Build thread
ORIGINAL: Starkweather As far as the servo, i'm sure its fine. The stock servo saver isnt up to the task. Im gonna throw the kimbrough on here in a few minutes and see how that works. If the hitec 645 works well on yours then i imagine with a better ss i will be in good shape. I thought about a quarter scale servo bc tamiya actually designed both trucks to run them. Im rather ignorant when it comes to electrnicz.... Should probably do some research, but would a big servo like that draw too much power?
Did it come with a saver adapter for hitec? I started out using the futaba adapter, but although it does fit, it was a bit too loose and it stripped out. I upgraded mine to one made for an Associated monster gt. Works good. I would definitely get an external BEC if you want to run 1/4 scale servos. You may be ok with one, but two would be a lot to sak from the reciever BEC. Reciever BEC's generally handle about 3 amps. The large scale servos I've been able to find the specs on draw around 1 amp running without any load. I would think current under load should be about 1.5-2.5 amps. Stall current is about 5 amps. There isn't a whole lot of info out there on the amperage draw of large scale servos. The specs I found were from several different servos.

RE: Tamiya 1/14 Truck help
What do you mean by strange noises? Tamiya 3 speeds do make more noise both driving and shifting than most rc cars. If you have a camera that will take video, you could post a clip of it making these noises and we may be able to help. Whether your local rc shops can competently service them, I don't know. Most shops by me(granted I don't live in AU) haven't even heard of Tamiya's semi truck line.

RE: Kyosho Raider / Parts Questions ....
The cheapest brushed esc I would get is Tamiya's 104bk such as [link=http://www.ebay.com/itm/TAMIYA-FROG-LUNCHBOX-HORNET-TEU-104BK-TEU-104-ESC-ELECTRONIC-SPEED-CONTROLLER-/110943219030?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d4bb2d56]this one[/link] At $10 shipped, the quality of that other one seems questionable. For a radio, currently 2.4ghz is the best frequency for avoiding interference. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tactic-TTX240-2-channel-pistol-Radio-2-4GHz-/150898204421?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item23223bdf05 Judging from other raiders on ebay, if he wanted to sell it he may get around $100 if it were ready to drive with a radio. As is, maybe $50.

RE: Codbuster help PLEASE.
Have you tried tightening the front servo saver all the way to test whether it's causing the problem? Also be sure that the steering rods running from the center servo horn/wheel are the correct length. The holes in the horn/wheel should point straight to the sides of the truck when the servo is centered.

RE: First generation stampede with a big brushless motor
ORIGINAL: X1AaronW  I am slapping a tacon 2 pole 3660 1800kv sensor less brushless motor in my first gen stampede. It's kind of a lot of power for this truck being that the spur gear is only availiable in that white plastic junk and I'm not real sure how to gear it. I had a tacon 2848 4300kv put in it and I could gear it up high and it would still stay at a manageable temperature at 7.2 volts. Thing is its about the size of a 380 with large fins and it's handling the truck quite well. The new motor is about twice the size so you can imagine what I'm dealing with. My question is, what do I need to do to make my truck durable enough to handle the motor and get the peak performance out of it?
Actually, Kimbrough makes spur gears that will fit it. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=&FVSEARCH=KIMBROUGH+SPUR+GEAR+TRAXXAS&search=Go They also make 81 and 78 tooth ones, tower just doesn't carry them.

RE: Scratch built rc18t (seriously, machined from rough stock)
Not many people around here(RCU) have machining capabilities. I have access to a small manual lathe and mill, so I've built a number of custom parts before, nothing too complex. Anyway, I look forward to seeing your progress. I agree that carbon fiber works well for chassis and shock towers. Be aware, though, that cf isn't the easiest to work with as it's hard on machine tools, particularly high speed steel. For parts like the suspension arms, bumper, and body posts, I would use an impact resistant plastic such as nylon, polycarbonate(lexan), abs or delrin(as syco suggested) to reduce damage in a crash.

Nice truck. It looks like it's in very good shape. In case you ever need spare parts, it shares many of them with the frog and brat which are back in production.

While losi's micro rock crawler is no longer made, their micro trail trekker uses the same axles and transmission. Get a crawler chassis and you have a micro crawler.

RE: Tamiya BlackFoot
ORIGINAL: The Collector1 I thought I was the only one that noticed that his prices were going up
Some stuff is still reasonably priced, but the more popular stuff like Tamiya's hard bodies and drive/suspension assemblies have really jumped. I was looking for high lift suspension parts(leafs, shackles, etc) and his suspension package looks to cost more than buying the parts separately.
ORIGINAL: jakoby19 The body has a crack in the hood and the windows have all been taken out and no where to attach new ones to.
You mean the side windows(in the picture, it looks like the windshield is there)? The blackfoot body doesn't come with side windows, just the windshield, rear window and a piece of plastic to cover the "moon roof".

What parts need to be replaced? The body doesn't look too bad. If it isn't damaged badly, you could strip it and re-paint it.

RE: school me on the mini slider...
The mini slider is based on the mini-t chassis. I have heard that some people have problems with the stock diff when they upgrade to brushless. I personally haven't had this problem, but the brushless motor I used is very mild. If you do decide to upgrade the diff. MIP's or Racers edge's ball diffs are supposed to be the best available for the mini-t. Another possibility are the all metal gears for the 1/16 mini sc truck, which appears to use the same transmission as the mini-t.

RE: Tamiya BlackFoot
Most of the parts can still be found new. The re-released Frog shares many parts with the blackfoot and Tamiya's latest rendition of the blackfoot(the blackfoot III), uses the super blackfoot body, which is just a blackfoot body with a different grill. Body http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-Black-Foot-III-58110-0981032-03-Body-Shell-/320956869458?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aba852b52 Grasshopper parts http://stores.ebay.com/RC-NITRO-HOBBIES/FROG-SUBARU-BRAT-BLACKFOOT-/_i.html?_fsub=148896&_sid=7734000&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 Note:nitromaster has been getting more expensive lately, so you may be able to locate the same parts from another ebay seller for less money. It looks good and appears to be very well built. I like that the previous owner put protective tubing over the servo wires. It shows that he was putting a lot of thought into it. One thing to keep and eye on; the shocks look to be made by integy, which is infamous for it's pretty, but poor quality parts.
