RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
I really wish I had some money when those were on sale so cheap the first time. I would have bought a few. I can actually enjoy my Pro Pulse again now that I have a charger that works, although I am pretty sure my last charger never worked.

My bumper is fabbed from aluminum. The frame of the car will break long before the bumper ever will. Not sure if that is a good thing or not though.

No one really seems to be enjoying the Fireball like I do. I went from the stock PP motor to the Fireball and thought I noticed a decent amount of extra speed. Even racing my friends stock PP, it was a good bit faster. Maybe I was just lucky.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Fiero, I will try to get a shot of it tomorrow. I am just too lazy to haul out the DSLR and do all the things required to get a decent pic now. It wasn't that hard, in fact it was easy enough for me to do on my kitchen table in my dorm room with no proper tools (dremel tool only). If I had done it here, it would have been milled on a Bridgeport properly.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
To get the Fireball to fit, I just had to dremel out the mount a bit. If I remember right, I had to take some material off the bottom of my mount, just make sure not to go too crazy. It shouldn't be too hard to do. Make sure you keep the lock washer that is there so the motor won't slip, I had some problems with that initially. Afterwards, my motor hasn't slipped at all. I have always wanted a new body for mine, but I haven't gotten around to it. My first priority is another NiMH charger since my Superbrain blew up and a new body for my Stampede though, although that costs a lot more than a tiny pro pulse body.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Your lucky your local RS has stuff still. I got all my stuff in MA in March and was never able to find stuff in NJ after checking about 10 stores. For what they are, the PP's are about as much RC fun as you can have for ~$30 in my opinion. I use mine every once in a while (and have since March) and really haven't broken anything major at all. Not like my Stampede, although I bash that about 10x harder.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
I doubt I am going to get it going anytime soon unless MRC comes through. I don't have the money with no job to buy crap like that now. I really need a new battery too, my 4200mah DTX seems to be lacking some punch. When I get some $$ I will be getting a new Ener-G 4600 7 cell pack. I need to find a freaking job first though. Stupid economy. For now my friend has a crappy 2200mah NiCd Venom battery with a charger I might borrow until I get my gear going.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Man my luck has been terrible lately. I have been having problems with both my PP and Stampede. I finally got them both running great and my MRC 959 crapped out last night. After 10 minutes it was off and the screen was blobby with LCD gel. Now it won't turn on. I really wish my luck would turn around.

Electric Stampede Transmission Problems
Hello all. After running my Stampede last week, my slipper started slipping. Usually after tightening the slipper, the problem goes away, however now it seems to be doing nothing. After taking the slipper apart, it seems like nothing is wrong with it (except some worn nubs). I can no longer get the slipper to even slip, when i rev the engine, the motor spins very quickly barely moving the truck. I am assuming that there is something wrong with my transmission. I haven't been able to take it apart yet because i need an allen to get the grub screw off my pinion. However when I open up the tranny, is there anything I should be looking for. IE is there a common part that breaks inside it. Or has anyone else had the same problem I have? Thanks.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
If you guys want cheap deans knock offs, I would go with these: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10788 I ordered these a few weeks ago and they have been great. They are in service on my charger and 4200 battery for my Stampede now. I have read things warning against using knock offs on really high power batteries because of inferior plastics, but for these applications, I think the connectors are great. Took about 8 days delivered which wasn't bad at all from HK.

RE: Stampede Clutch Problems
Maybe my original post was misphrased because it is an electric truck. My problem is either with my slipper clutch or transmission. I have had the slipper clutch apart and besides a missing friction peg and the rest of them being worn, it looks alright. I have a feeling the problem is the tranny. I have it almost apart, but need an allen to take the grub screw off the pinion. Does anyone know what size allen this is? Is there anything specific to look for that could easily break in the tranny?

Stampede Clutch Problems
Hello all, I am having an annoying problem with my Stampede. While running it yesterday, the clutch started slipping. It has done this before and after tightening the slipper clutch, things are usually fine. However after tightening the clutch last night, it stopped slipping but isn't transferring any power. After tightening and loosening the clutch several times now, the truck barely moves. I can't even get the clutch to slip anymore, it just seems to be geared down really low. I have read about how to tune the clutch but nothing seems to be helping. I took the washers and spur off, but everything else seems alright. Is there something I need to be looking for? Is it something actually inside the transmission? Thanks in advance for your help.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
I just ran some grease along the outer edges of it and it seems better for now. I will have to take the diffs apart next time I do it. I just couldn't figure out how to get them apart and didn't want to break them. I think some of my problem is that my spur gear is starting to grind down pretty good and it's effecting my gear meshing. I will have to change it eventually. I should be good for now. I hate to say it, but I am not going to be using my PP as much starting soon. I have a Stampede coming on Monday hopefully. That is going to be my play toy for a while.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
So a question. I want to lube my diffs, what is the best way to do it.I haven't been able to find silicon grease, so I was going to try someCarmex for now. It doesn't have any petroleum in it as far as I cantell. Should i just slather some on the gears in the differentials andbe done with it?

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Honestly I was skeptical getting a Pro Pulse as my first real RC car, however I have no complaints at all. I have had mine for almost 3 months now and really haven't had any detrimental part failures. In fact I really haven't had to replace anything at all. Anytime something breaks, I am able to fix it. For the $30 I paid for it, you really can't beat that. If you get enough spares things won't be a problem. The only bad thing is that spares are no longer $1.50 at RS.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Man I wish I had as many parts and "toys" laying around as some of the rest of you. All I have for now is my Pro Pulse to fool around with and some of the RS hop ups. Although I am hoping to have a Stampede by the end of the week to play with. I can't wait to have something I can bash with anywhere, the PP just limits me too much because of ground clearance right now.

I seriously need to lube my diffs. I grabbed some Carmex at Walmart the other day and think I am going to try that. I just need something to keep my gears going smoothly.

Man I was at two local hobby stores today and there is so much I want to try. I am really feeling the urge to get a Mini Z. There are two places around here that have tracks set up for racing them and it looks like a blast. I am going to have to think about picking one of them up.

I would imagine MegaTech will make things right. That sounds pretty unacceptable. They have been fairly helpful when I have contacted them in the past and I seem to remember others here sharing my sentiments. I hope you get that fixed.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Does anyone know if there are shock covers available for the RC18 or something else compatible with the Pro Pulse. I was browsing ebay before and saw covers for traxxas shocks. One of the biggest pains for me is cleaning my shocks all the time. With oil in them leaking all the time, it sucks the dirt on them. If I could cover them, it would be great.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
I still can't believe how durable this stupid little thing is. I just rolled mine, and the shock popped off. I found that the threaded middle rod had pulled out of the piece that attaches to the ball stud. Well I found my spring, popped it back on and rethreaded the rod into the end piece. Luckily the threading wasn't trashed and it popped right back on. I am pretty happy. Did some nice flips on my driveway today. I just need to lube my differentials. My car makes almost a grinding noise. I thought it was the gear mesh, but I think thats alright. I think I just need some lube for my diffs to get rid of the noise.

Well apparently the mini giant was sold to another guy (so much for people holding things for you). I guess I am just gonna scrap some birthday money together and buy a stampede. Man I can't wait to have a job so I can buy stuff without worrying so much.

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
I have used bid sniping programs before. The auctions usually just get out of hand at the end. My friend swears by bidnapper and uses it all the time. Sometimes things do just get crazy. In bidding on one item, it went up almost $600 in the last 30 seconds of the auction.... I actually have a line on a Mini Giant for $60 shipped. I am trying to decide if I want to go for it or just wait a little bit and buy a Stampede. I do think the Mini G will be fun to play with in the yard at least. It's going to depend on another auction I am waiting on for something I actually need (new hockey gloves).

So I got my MRC 959 charger today. Let me say, I will never be going back to the 10 hour stock charger again. It takes 15 minutes to top off my battery with this bad boy. Not too bad for $20. Now I just need another car to use it on.....
