RE: Hunter 69
I think 10 minutes is the bare minimum, as in running full throttle for 85% of that time. However, I havn't used the z-drives so I couldn't help you out there. Probobly your best bet for runtime now that I think about it would be 4 batteries of the highest possible voltage. Therefore, the boat would be so fast you wouldn't run it at full throttle very much. But one thing for sure is that running 75% throttle for your whole run, you won't see much more then 10 minutes.

RE: Hunter 69
All hope is not lost haha. How fast do you want to go? A very popular electric setrup (for good reason) is running a Leopard motor, with perhaps a fightercat or Castle Hydra esc are popular choices. Brushed motors won't be feasable at all for a 69 inch hull. To get good run times, your going to need a parrelel battery connector, which makes it so two batteries equal the voltage of one, but it gives you twice the amount of run time. It's expensive, but if you want runtime it's what you have to do. A good setup would be: Single or twin 730Kv Leopard 5692 motors Single or twin castle hydra HV 240amp esc's 4 12s batteries (two will be run parrelel) This will be a heck of alot of power, now that I think about it 10s or 8s in parrel will be more manageable. Also regarding brushed vs brushless, brushed may take less power but they are far less efficent.

RE: Help Please!
The j.b weld worked fine... Ran the boat for about 2 hours yesterday and it was great! Maybe with some of the more powerful engines the j.b weld wouldn't hold. After all I am just using a stock zen. Thanks for the help

RE: Help Please!
Have you heard what J.B weld is used for? People repair engine blocks with it. It's and extremely strong compound. If I cant find the 638 Locite, then I will try J.B weld. Worst comes to worst I will just get a new solderless cable.

What's the next step?
So I have mastered my cx2, and I'm looking to buy a new heli. I want the new one to be big and able to fly outdoors, and not more then $250. So I was looking at the Blade SR, because it seems that parts support is so great for it. But after doing research it seems that the SR really isn't a very good heli. Am I correct about this? So then I came across the Walkera V400D02, and it seems good. However I just hesitate to buy it because I am unaware of where I could get parts from. And I guess these helicopters are imported?? What website's have a steady supply of parts for these heli's? I have also been looking at a Blade cp Pro v2 on craigslist for $150, and it comes with an extra BNF heli for spare parts. So is the CP pro a good choice? What could you guys recomend? Thanks Mike

RE: the unofficial home of the dumas dauntless
Thank you for the input. I just had a nice long talk with them. They said they would be happy to sell me the plans only, which is all that i'm interested in. As long as my company can build the boat, that is. The largest boat we have ever worked on is the 55 foot thunderbird, so I think the dauntless could definately be doable, as I think we have the room in the shop. If I we can't do it, I probobly won't be purchasing the plans, I don't want to waiste the fact that I'm the owner of a boat restoration company, and send it to someone else to build the boat. I will let you know soon.. Mike

RE: How much is this worth?
Ok so I just saw it running on water. It definately isn't a looker, but it actually runs preety solid. It was definately a better performer then how it looked. He is asking $950, which is way too high. Do you think $500-$600 would be a resonable offer? Or is it worth less? The hull which I will more then likely strip is let's say $150 Zenoah with clutch $300 (It ran great) Pipe $60 Outdrive system $200 When I saw it, all the servo's were water-proof traxxas servo's, and the reciver was in a waterproof box. The radio was a 2.4ghz from traxxas. Out on the water it seemed fine. So with that in mind, what do you think is a fair price?

RE: Engine advice for a 42
The 254 I still have in a Venom king of shaves and it is preety awesome. I have the k30rz in a 55 apache and it runs preety good, however I had to replace the starter 3 times (all stock rcmk starters are junk). The reason I really don't like RCMK is I made a $1,900 order from gizmo. This order consisted of two twin rcmk k-600 and 4 gizmo pipes. I was excited to run the heck out of the engines. The engines are complete junk, I spent $1,900 and 7-8 hours installing them to get literally 20 minutes of runtime. After about 20 minutes, I bring the boat in. I see a crack in the main case of the motor, so I call it a day and head home. I ship the k-600 back to Gizmo, and he ships it back out to RCMK. So I start playing around with the other k-600, and the starter breaks. Wait a couple days for a new starter. Ok lets rock this baby: It wouldn't start. I realize that it isn't even sparking, so I order a new capacitor and the engine FINALLY comes to life. I sold it imeadeatly. I STILL havn't received the other k-600 from RCMK/gizmo. I know it's not Bruce's fault, he told me quote: "Yeah man about the engine I'm fighting with Rcmk right now, they say they sent the engine, they said it should have been here a couple days ago." Well clearly that hasn't happened. meanwhile, its been 9 weeks and my k-600 is god knows where, honestly for all I know it's probobly at the bottom of the ocean. Like I could care. All I know is I never will order an RCMK inline ever again. I had the k-600's in a 72 inch apache. Now that apache has twin inline bz4 zenoah's from bonzi and I LOVE it, along with all of my other Zenoah's.

RE: Engine advice for a 42
Bonzi is a great company. Some of their custom make items may be overpriced, however you can get a basic zenoah g26 for $205 I believe, or like $215. Their clutch is phenominal. It looks great and I feel like it will last FOREVER. Their modded engines are preety good, basic bz1 mod is $50 and it gets a stock zenoah up to 4.5 hp, add a quality tuned pipe from Gizmo, and you're at 5.5 or maybe 6hp. Don't buy a Pipe from Bonzi, they are nice and have a good finish with the anodized parts but you can get one from Gizmo that offers alittle more performance for 1/2 the price. I can't help you with your desired Mph, but I bet a full modded zenoah could maybe do it. I know a rcmk k30 could get you there, however I am personally Very disapointed withthe 4 Rcmk engines I have bought, and I LOVE my zenoah's and quickdraws. Don't want to start an arguement, its my personal experience. Like I said if you have the money don't hesitate to buy from Bonzi. I have 6 zenoahs from them, all of the zenoahs have their clutch and they all work great, and have been running strong for 5 plus years. Also they have very fast shipping. Not trying to sound like a Bonzi fanboy but they have been my go to company for around 6 years.

RE: Zenoah Running Hot...
Ok thanks for the advice. The reason I had it just idling for so long was the boat sat for about 2 years, and I wanted to run some fresh petrol through i, get it nice and warmed up to see if it had any problems. Also, I didn't only idle, I did some throttle too. The reason I didn't go to a lake was I didnt want to drive for an hour to find out something was wrong with my engine. The reason I like the clutch and waterpump is I run real boats offshore, and I love the look of the boat being still and water spewing out the transom. The engine is well broken in. I had it running phenominally before I put her in the shed for 2+ years. I agree that idling isn't neccesarily part of tuning, however it is important on ANY engine to just run if if it hasn't been ran for a long time. Also, I like the sound of the 2-strokes :) Hopefully I will make it out to the delta tommorow, giver her a workout, playing in the wake of my full size boat :) If you think that idles nicely, you should listen to my Donzi with triple v8's. Absoulute symphony to the ears lol. Thanks for the help

Zenoah Running Hot...
Hi all. I have an all stock zenoah 260. I have a clutch and pump. I had my boat idling for about 20 minutes today, however I took 2-3 minutes breaks every 5 or so minutes. This was all idling in my pool. I have a waterpump of course. I had one pickup run directly to the head of the zenoah, then directly out the transom. By the end, the water coming out of the outlet was hot to touch. Like, really hot. I couldn't comfortably keep my hand under the water spitting out for more then 6-7 seconds. Any idea's? My pool was 77 degrees when I did this and it was 83 degrees outside... Could that be it? Or should I look into getting a different cooling jacket? Or is it because I am straight up idling, and no substantial throttle inputs? Or is this normal? The water spitting out of the other outlet was quite cool.
