RE: The Australian bbq and beers
Thanks Marc, My only comments here would be that I would be VERY surprised if there was anything posted in the BBQ threads that was a bit risky for kids. I was a thread regular and never read or posted anything that I would not want my kids to see - So not sure where that came from. If there was, I know myself and a bunch of the others would have jumped on that member instantly. Also As we only ever had a problem with Lightfoot - can I ask if he is still a moderator? AND if her has been brought up to speed with your new arrangements? Like Bleary - I would have no problem coming back - but I can't speak for the rest of us. Cheers -J

Hi Admin, I would like to hold hope and say that it may be possible to get the members back to what they considered home, but alas, I think the horse has bolted. Thank you for attending to this. Cheers -J

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Thanks Rowdy. I must say that we are getting a return rate that I am not real happy with. ACME swap them without question.... just a bit of a pain, and a small addition to my costs. But you get that I suppose!! :) Let me know how she goes. I you are looking for a good SD that seems to work well.... I use the SANDISK ULTRA 2 Cards. Dicky Smith has em for about $50 and the double as a USB card too!!! Cheers -J

RE: Official Aerobird Swift Thread
It is always a struggle to have a plane hanging in the workshop and not fly it. But the thought of damaging more gear just keeps me from trying. I ended up removing all of the hardware from the Swift to remove the temptation to get it in the air!

RE: Official Aerobird Swift Thread
Hey Boys, I hope I don't offend anyone when I say that the swift is a piece of crap! I did manage to get mine flying, but that was also two fuses and two wing sets later. in the end I retired her and now fly much more stable aircraft. Heck, it is easier to fly a P51 Warbird that than the Yellow Terror!! Cheers -J

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
ORIGINAL: Andrew86 I know it's not always the case and bad things do sometimes happen to good stores; but too many hobby shops fail to recognise the importance of customer relationships. I could name 3 or 4 hobby shops in Perth that I would never consider going to if I didn't have a specific need for an item in their store. The condescending, unwelcoming vibe that some of these places force upon their customers is quite remarkable. I'm not naming names here but my favourite LHS is more than happy for customers to come in for a chat and a browse, they enjoy talking about new products and experiences and if you don't buy anything they won't release the hounds. Granted they don't always have time for newbies or people who are too lazy to do a little research but overall they're a great mob. For that reason, I often end up going to the shop for a leisurely browse and end up impulse purchasing a new part/toy. Regardless of how much disposable income I have or how the economy is doing I'll make fortnightly trips to the LHS for a look around because I enjoy doing so. It quite often does result in an unintentional purchase[:D] Maybe a few more of these stores could be doing a little better if they were a little more approachable and friendly? Especially now that the import market has dried up for the average consumer. I haven't been to every LHS in oz so I'm only speaking from experience. cheers
I think you are spot on the money mate! Having been a shop owner in the past (not in RC) I know both sides of the fence. There is an LHS that I simply will not walk into because I, and a mate, were made to feel like idiots. They even went as far as not to serve us because my mate had bought his Truggie off Ebay. He wanted a glow plug kit and a starter pack for his new purchase, and they just refused to deal with him and used excuses like - "We don't want to be seen to be responsible in any way when the thing breaks, and it WILL break" Can you believe that crap!!! They should have nurtured that moment, as just recently he went to a competing LHS (who did look after him) and upgraded to some massive 1/5th scale machine. Some just don't get it! But thankfully some do. I support the ones that do, and as for that other store.... they will never see the colour of my money. Cheers -J

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
OZ - I have heard of that happening before in other industries... where the sale price is based on the current exchange rates. Can be bad if you are on the wrong end of that bargain, but can at times work in your favour. No Flying for me for the next 3 weekends I will be Sydney. :( Cheers -J

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
ORIGINAL: clovus Nice Lexus Mong, they are a smooth machine and full of very impressive techno bits - hate to have to try and fix it out of the warranty period. Shame the E-flite stuff has dried up as they really are quality kit, and the accessories are top notch. I think OMP are the sole importers for OZ and ol' Mike might be a bit wary of the exchange rate or the financial situation. TM is repaired but so far two days of rain, tomorrow maybe.... clovus
Yeah mate - 4 year warranty - which is the extent of the lease![;)] There are lots of E-Flite gear that is not available in Aust. I dunno why... things like the Seafury for example!! They said they have no intention of offering it to the Australian market.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
ANDREW - I think the term is called Cavitation. It is when the prop is turning faster than the air can flow through it. You will hear it when in a hover and the plane is just about to fall backwards. You get the same thing on a boat when the prop spins, but no water is passing through. Can also happen when the air running through the prop is faster than the prop... as in a dive. Cheers -J

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Mike.... that is one big roo dude!! I have Maggies here that swoop when I am flying so now I have to back myself under this shrubby tree to keep them from attacking from behind! Most of the time they are spending too much time chasing the plane, but I got the feeling the other day when he was perched up on the neighbours roof that he was working out that it was actually me flying the plane! Slightly off topic, but I remember playing golf at a local course and my ball landed within 6ft of a Roo that big. Did you think he would move? I can tell you, you feel quite alone in the middle of a golf course with a massive Roo 20ft away, and daylight between you and the clubhouse!! [X(] Cheers -J

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Mr Lightfoot or other Mods.... can you please advise when errors like these (Which are a daily occurrence) might be rectified?? We get these on a regular basis while just trying to submit a message, and the result is normally a loss of everything we type. In fact I got it twice just trying to post this!! [:@] Thank you -J We are sorry... You are seeing this message because of one of the following reasons: Your session timed out. The server was restarted before you made a HTTP POST (posting a message, registering an account, login, etc.) Problem #1: You probably spent too much time and your session timed out. This is, however, rarely the cause of the problem because we implemented a session keep-alive mechanism to prevent this issue from happening. However, the server itself could have experienced some problems that prevented this mechanism to work as it should, and therefore we cannot completely rule out the possibility of this either. You need to make sure your browser has cookies enabled. See below for instructions: Netscape Communicator 4+: Select "Edit" from the browser Menu bar Select "Preferences" Double click on "Advanced" Verify that "Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server" is selected Select the "OK" button Microsoft Internet Explorer 4+: Select "View" from the browser Menu bar Select "Internet Options" Select "Security" tab Select "Custom (for expert users)" security level and select the "Settings" button Locate "Cookies" and verify that "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" is enabled Select the "OK" button on the "Security" window Select the "OK" button on the "Internet Options" window If you already have cookies enabled and still experienced the problem, see problem #2 below for other possible causes. Problem #2: Your server experienced problems and was forced to restart. Restarting a server will erase all session data and our protective mechansim had no choice but to drop your HTTP POST because we had no way to identify you without valid session data. Many forum administrators host their forums on shared servers, on which could have more than 200 sites hosted together. Sometimes the server has to be restarted because some badly written programs on other sites may drain the CPU/RAM and cause the IIS to restart itself. This is unfortunately an inevitable situation that many site administrators and its users have to face from time to time. Technical Information For more information, please contact forum admin.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
BUD - I answered your question but the Moderator decided it was not RC related enough and deleted it. I see others that have wondered off topic still exist, but I think it is because the first half of the message is RC related. Anyways.... Back to the PA Bipe. I like the look of it and from the vids, it performs really well... I just don't know if I can stomach paying that sort of money for just the airframe. I need to watch my spending at the moment Bud, as my Guitar that I have been playing since I was 5 needs a service. I have been looking at a Bipe that is from World Models. I think it is called the Ultimate EP, but can't seem to find much on it, so I don't know how it performs. Also... where do you guys choose your music for your RC vids from? I go through my favs, like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton... etc... Some good tunes for flying!! [:D] I wish I could spend a bit more time flying of late, as the weather has been great... but I have been locked away in my PC Based studio running Sonar and Reason to get out and burn some sky! Although my planes all hang in there on the Plane Hanger that I made, so at least I can look at them!! [;)] Anyways... we do need to organise another gathering of the Murrumbateman Madmen down at the Rec Grounds.... only this time I will try not land my EZ Star in a tree aye!!! Cheers -J

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Well here we are again with another bunch of posts deleted!! Seems like we can't even ask how each other is today, as it may get taken as not RC related. Mr Lightfoot... you are in danger of losing a great bunch of blokes to a rival forum. Would you care to actually join in for a post or two and advise us why you are being so harsh? Rather than just post a link to the rules, talk to us mate!! We understand the concept of trying to keep the conversation RC related, but sometimes mate idle chit chat is what keeps some of us coming back. Just my 2 bobs. Cheers -J
