RE: New 18mz with elevator stick travel problem
Well I decided to test how tight the springs got before I sent it back to Futaba to see I'd I wanted them to put in stiffer springs. The screw for the elevator was really loose so I tightened it down all the way and low and behold I now have full travel on the elevator. 100% in both directions. Maybe the loose screw was preventing the travel, I don't know what the mechanism looks like in there, but it is fixed now.

New 18mz with elevator stick travel problem
Well I got my 18mz but I think I have a problem. It appears there is some type of stop in the elevator stick when pushing down elevator. You can see in the picture that it stops at about 2 thirds travel. In the other picture on the servo monitor the travel is only showing 57% travel. Is there an adjustment on the back or something that I can do or does it need to be shipped back. It doesn't do this for up elevator, the stick moves the full amount and the monitor shows 100%. There are no mixes or anything in the radio, this is immediately after turning it on.

One of a Kind Drop Plane needs home
I have decided to sell the experimental plane I bought from chief. I just don't have the time to build it and the SFK is a great plane, and I really don't do much skydiving anymore. Everything is still boxed up just like I got it from Chief. It is all composite and the specs are listed in the first post. I would like to get $800. I don't really want to ship but will do so greyhound at the buyers expense. I will drive 200 miles or so from the Atlanta area to deliver the aircraft. Composite fuselage, wings & stab Engine box is built and installed Hinged with Robart type hinges Minimal hardware included Wingspan: 146" Horizontal Stab: 58" Wing Area: approx 2800 sq in Engines: 80-100cc Thought I would offer it up here before posting in the classifieds

RE: WACO YMF
ORIGINAL: FMBB To All, Sorry not a Waco question hi brothers I have a problem with three view dwgs.. We eventually want to build a Great Lakes special. Currently we have three views from Harold Krier's ship but the struts are uncommon to "normal" Great Lake designs. Normally they have N-struts. As Krier's version is a radial which is perfect we would also like to built the boxer engine version. To enable both version in one kit we are in need to have the dwg. information for the boxer version as well. Unfortunately I have not found any usable dwgs. for the boxer version. The only address seems to be Steen Aero lab.. The are offering a lot of Great Lakes dwgs. but no information what's on the sheets (e.g. radial-, boxer- or in line version). Does any one of you know where I could get hold of a boxer version dwg set 3 view or even more views with section details would be nice. Thanks for your support in advance. Peter Waco brother #170
Hi Peter - I have a plan of the baby great lakes (boxer) if that is any use??? cheers Richard

RE: WACO YMF
Thanks skylarkmk1 the AMR is gorgeous but beyond but my means at the moment! and besides I really I love the design process. Also I am playing around with some very lightweight materials at the moment - which I want to experiment with in this model - but so far I have got a Half Scale Jungmeister to be under our 20kg rules! and my aim is to eventually do a 20ft plane under that too! but thats another story.... - so I am really looking for some decent CAD drawings I can work from and some fibreglass parts I have access to a laser and so can cut anything I can draw and that is what I really enjoy. I can do fibreglass parts but am not as skilled at that and looking at what some of the guys on here have done already, I just thought that if someone out there had some moulds they had finished with or could supply me a set of parts then that would be well worth whatever it cost me.... I was working at 90in initially but will certainly consider a larger model if anyone has the parts available. eventually I will probably end up making a half scale Waco, but that may be a couple of years off yet![:D] <script></script>

RE: WACO YMF
Hi Everyone and greetings from across the big pond in a (surprisingly) sunny England! I started designing my own “kit” in CAD, started with the Pepino Plan but seem to have changed most of it from that starting point..... Found this thread as I was looking for info and bits - I have been wading my way through this thread since then! – amazing stuff in it Anyway – as I said I am trying to design in all the best features I can find and make this the best plane I have done to date..... what I am asking here is, does anyone have any really good CAD drawings for the Waco YMF? Or any of the moulds (or even parts) for the fibreglass parts that they would be willing to sell? As I am not terribly good at the details in mould making. My plan is to do the 90”ish version first then scale up to maybe 1/3rd scale and after that..... well who knows! (Over the last few years I have done a Fournier RF4 at 1/3rd scale then 1/2scale, a 1/3rd Scale Bucker Jungmeister then up to 1/2scale, and latest is a 1/3rd scale Piper Cub then up to 1/2scale on that as well! –can you see a pattern emerging!) So if anyone out there has good CAD plans or Fibreglass moulds or parts, then please get in contact! (by the way, how do you get to join the Brotherhood? Sounds like fun!) Cheers Richard

RE: Experimental Drop Plane
With the DA 100 I can haul 3 jumpers up to a spec in the sky in a single lap around the field. It has awesome performance. 5 jumpers would be no problem.

No I haven't. It is sitting the garage. I only intend to build it in case I ever need it. The Super Flying King is a great drop plane. The chief plane was unique and looks to be a great drop plane, so I just couldn't pass it up. If I hadn't already had the SFK It would be the perfect plane.

Experimental Drop Plane
I just picked up a Chief Aircraft Experimental Surplus Plane to create a drop plane. I will probably put it on the shelf for the time being, as I currently have a BTE Superflying King which is a great drop plane. But this Chief plane looks like it would work great, they had only two of them and won't have them again, so I thought I would go ahead and get one. Specs: http://www.chiefaircraft.com/rcmsec/Models/PowerAirplanes/ChiefAircraft/Surplus.html Composite fuselage, wings & stab Engine box is built and installed Hinged with Robart type hinges Minimal hardware included Wingspan: 146" Horizontal Stab: 58" Wing Area: approx 2800 sq in Engines: 80-100cc My SFK has a DA100 and flies great. Packing Parafoil 96 with Slider???
I just got a Mike Jumper with a Parafoil 96 chute. This also has a working slider, I have not packed a chute with a working slider before. Do you slide the slider up towards the chute before laying the lines in the chute before folding? Any pictures would be great. Thanks

RE: What drop plane do you use?
I have used a tower hobbies 60 size trainer....Not very good. Then rigged up my 37.5% Yak with a drop box mounted to the landing gear....Removable with Velcro. It works great and the Yak with a DA170 doesn't even know the jumper is there. Obviously you can't drop from this altitude. And finally, I just got the Mac Daddy. Super Flying King rigged up for 3 jumpers using a DA100.

RE: J&J Tailwheels Goes Carbon Fiber
I think we can get the price the same as our titanium ultimately if they sell well and can buy them in larger quantities. Still cheaper than some of our competition.

J&J Tailwheels Goes Carbon Fiber
We have teamed up with GraphTech to provide a Carbon Fiber solution utilizing our CNC Machined wheel Carriage. This is the same GraphTech Carbon Fiber used by GraphTech and White Rose for their own Tailwheels. The carbon fiber solutions weigh about the same (3 ounces) as our Titanium Assemblies however, the smaller leaf spring is sized more appropriate for a 30% 50cc airplane. We still believe that our titanium solution is more durable, however, our testing has shown the GraphTech carbon fiber is very durable, and much more so than Pete Models carbon fiber. At this time we are offering this setup as a Traditional Only. We must do some testing for Direct Drive and because of the pod for the wire on the Direct Drive, there will be some type of bushing inserted in the Carbon Fiber to provide Clearance. I will post when we have a satisfactory solution. Let me know what you guys think. We have a limited supply of these based on not knowing how they would sell. http://jjtailwheels.googlepages.com/carbonfiberpage www.jjtailwheels.com .

RE: New Tailwheel Giant Scale Must Have
At Laaassst!!!! We are now fully stocked on both Direct Drive and Traditional Tailwheels. The new traditional tailwheels look great, we had to remove the flared area around the axle (due to machining difficulty and cost) and switch to a 2-56 set screw, we went with a clear anodized finish that turned our really nice. Thanks for all the support and patience. See attached pictures of the Traditional Tailwheels.

RE: New Tailwheel Giant Scale Must Have
THE NEW TAILWHEELS ARE IN However, due to a manufacturing error we have a 30 of the traditional tailwheels, and a 70 of the Direct Drive units. We wil be announcing a couple of dealers in the next few days that will have several of the traditional units. We will only have 3 in stock for the next several weeks, but the dealers should have about 25. These units will be the only one's with a flared area for the axle, all future units we had to remove this area due to machining difficulty, this will mean that they will use 2-56 set screws instead of 4-40. They will be marginally lighter. These new units weigh 2.9oz for the traditional unit and 2.85oz for the direct drive. See more info at www.jjtailwheels.com

RE: New Tailwheel Giant Scale Must Have
We hate to do this, however, as demand has increased we have had to change suppliers for some of our components. Therefore, we have to increase our price. We wish we could continue to provide the tailwheels at $65, but given the amount of time and the increase in cost, it would not be worth our time to continue the production. The new price effective 5/19/08 will be $75 plus S&H. Along with the added cost we have some improvements coming, and with any luck we will have these available at Joe Nall offering them for the last time at $65. See you at Joe Nall. Stop by our booth Thursday-Saturday. Hopefully, everybody understands. Thanks John and John www.jjtailwheels.com

RE: Can anyone help with R/C Blimp Tailwheel Source???
Let me suggest a new tailwheel by J&J tailwheels. It uses a titanium "haigh style" setup perfect for round bottom fuselages. It is lightweight and machined from billet aluminum. [link=http://www.jjtailwheels.com]www.jjtailwheels.com[/link]

New Tailwheel Giant Scale Must Have
Everyone, I am proud to announce and hopefully you guys will agree and purchase what I think is the best overall solution for the tailwheel needs of most giant scale aircraft. Particularly those wanting a "Haigh Style" tailwheel for their composite round bottom airplanes. Especially since RC-Blimp has had its problems. We have made 10 pre-production for testing and just placed our order for the next 50 to be milled. They should be available at the end of next week. We plan on being around for the long haul and producing as many as needed. This tailwheel has been designed to be used with a Titanium wire or an existing composite or other leaf spring arrangement. Besides being high quality it just plain looks cool. Hot Rodders and Bikers pay big bucks for billet parts that are for looks only, this one also provides great function. This all started because nothing quite suited what we were looking for when trying to outfit a Comp-Arf 3.0 Yak. The new White Rose wheel is very cool but uses a flat carbon leaf spring like so many others and that just does not look right on many planes. So we started down this path and made our own, and after much testing I feel it works just as well with existing leaf springs as the wire, and we are offering it as just the wheel carriage (yoke) without the wire as well. Enought text. I will post pictures below, but you can goto our website and get a lot more info and order one, (hopefully). Check out the [link=http://jjtailwheels.googlepages.com/JJ_Tailwheel.pdf]3D PDF[/link], it is really cool. This is the production version. After PDf opens click on the image to activate 3D viewing. Thanks John and John [link=http://jjtailwheels.googlepages.com/home]J&J Tailwheels[/link]
