RE: Maybe the Tower Hype is True?
I ordered a 1/4 scale GP RV-4 from Tower a couple weeks ago and when I was going through the parts, noticed one of the tips of the cheek cowling was snapped of. I called them right away and told them my situation and the woman on the phone said they'd send me a new cowling no charge and also said to discard the damaged one.(not return it) The new one arrived in 3 days... Now that's good service if you ask me...[:D]

RE: RE:
I've started my 310 build months ago and then flying season hit, so it's on hold for now. Have some other small projects before getting back to the build. I also need to clean up my hanger/build area to make room for this huge airframe.

RE: Does anybody have the Great Planes 1/4 RV4 ARF yet?
I just purchased one of these from Tower Hobbies on sale and had a $40.00 coupon code as well. Really nice looking plane!! I removed the parts today for inspection and noticed the tip of one of the cheek cowls was snapped and hanging by the trim, so I got on the phone with Tower and they're sending me a new cowl free of charge, and it's already showing in my order history! Now THAT'S service . I plan on using an O.S. 91FS I already have since this will be a plane I can fly scale-like when I just want to relax. I have other planes for speed, aerobatics and knee-knocking flights so I wanted a nice scale flying plane for those quiet Sundays at the field doing touch and go's, and taking onboard video. [:D]

RE: engine out on twin
The plane will go left. Apply right rudder and dont kill the other engine. Those still props will add alot of drag and slow you down quickly. I know this from experience! I made that mistake with my Cessna Bobcat almost 20 years ago.

I've been doing alot of flying myself trying to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Unfortunately I had a crash last Friday so I've been doing some repairs to the damaged aircraft when I'm NOT flying. I can't wait to get back to my 310, I just don't want to be tied down in the shop with all this nice weather going on outside. Flew my twin on Fathers Day and WOW she was running good!

RE: E Z Arf Models
I had 3 of them a looooong time ago. Had an Extra 230, a Cessna and a Piper Cherokee which I still have but it's been in a crash. I just can't part with it. [:o] The thing had an O.S. .32F on it and was a rocket!

RE: RE:
Yes she does look sweet! I can't wait to see some video, Just might give me some more motivation. I'm just about finished with my Morrisey Bravo and all that's left to do is mount the canopy, check final fit of everything, check the C/G and run a couple tanks of fuel through it befroe maiden. I was not going to go with retracts on the 310, but I think by the time I get back to work on it, I'll probably change my mind again. I have'nt sheeted the wing center section yet so it's not too late. [;)]

RE: Where Have All The Kits Gone ?
It wasnt long after I got into R/C that I started scratch building planes. I was one of those guys who got to the field, looked through the trash bin at the days fatalities and picked out a few good ribs left over from the wreckage. I would then draw out my wing and fuse on some drafting paper and start building. Back then I had a local hobby store with a large selection of balsa at very cheap prices, so it didnt cost a ton of money for a new plane. The bottom line is, if I wanted a new plane I would either design my own or build from plans.

RE: RE:
OK, I'm bummed out! I went out today to run some errands with the family, then took the boy to the park for some fun and when we got home I heard a pair of WW2 Radials in the distance. Now I know there is a WW2 Weekend at a local airport usually the second week of June, but thought I would check the website to see. Well it turns out the airshow is this weekend and the thing that bummed me out is the B-29 FiFi is there this year and I have to work Sunday, so I won't be able to see this rare Multi-Engine Beauty!! CRAP!!!!!!![:@] [link]http://www.maam.org/[/link] Here's another rare aircraft they have on display during the Airshow which is being restored to flying condition. I saw a documentary on the recovery of this plane and also saw the crates it was stored in several years ago at the Museum. Enjoy...and thanks for listening. RE: Why the near obsession with over powering airplanes?
I have always had more power than needed in most of my aircraft since it will get you out of a bad situation when needed. Now I'm not talking about putting a 1.20 on a .40 size model, I am refering to putting say a .32 on a .25 size model or a .52 on a .40 size. I think alot of planes like a .40 size model are advertised with a .40 being marginal as an example. An old saying goes,"It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it".[:D]

RE: RE:
Years ago we lost a flying site and needed to find a new place to fly. Well there was an ultalite field about 10 miles outside of Valley Forge National Park that one of the members found and approached the owner. Soon after we had a new flying site, which was great because the grass runway was almost endless and it was pretty much ready to fly from. Well this one particular weekend there was about 8-10 of us flying and I just happened to have my Cessna Bobcat in the air when all of a sudden someone yells "Full Scale coming in. It was the owner of the property doing a couple low passes over the field in his..........You guessed it........Cessna 310! I had already landed and taxied off the runway just in time to see this beautiful red and white 310 buzzing the field. I was sure he was going to land and was coming in low to let us know he was, but after a couple passes he flew off into the big blue sky... Never fotget that sound...

RE: 1/4 Cub Motor
Personally, I have had my eye on this engine as well. Right now I don't need it but just picked up a Dynaflite Decathlon which would go well with this engine. I bought stuff from them in the past and used PayPal and EMS Shipping without a problem. All of the orders took less than 2 weeks and tracked my order all the way to my local post office. Here is what I do: If I see something I like, I read the reviews and then go on YouTube and see if I can find a video of the same product. There are plenty of vids of this running so maybe that'll help you decide. Here's a start>

RE: RC Plane Guys Are Cheap!
I can't understand why so many threads end up in a piss and moan contest! WTF is wrong with everyone these days? Reminds me of a club I used to belong to years ago. There were very rich guys and us "cheapos" with our average type aircraft and those other guys acted like they owned the place!!! Kind of like here...[:@]
ORIGINAL: Gary Binnie Would you be willing to send them to a good home across the Atlantic?!! I quite like the standard scheme, think there is another blue one with Labatt's logos, perhaps it was the same aircraft? Worst hangover ever on that stuff on my first trip to Canada!!
Hey Gary, sorry for the late reply but work has been crazy and the lawn was getting out of hand! I still havent located my decals but I don't think I would part with them just yet. I have been thinking about scratch building one since I still have the plans and some of the rib and former cut-outs. All I need is time and to finish up other projects. As far as the decals go and my memory also; they are stickers and not the water transfer type.

RE: loosing signal
ORIGINAL: flycatch Did you know that 2.4ghz is a shared frequency with commercial users. Manufactures choose this frequency to make there products cheaper and draw more people into the hobby. From the modelers perspective it allowed them not to worry about shared frequencies and now they could have a gaggle of airplanes aloft.
I recently picked up a wireless router for my home network which surprised me when I saw it would broadcast on 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz. Got me thinking if this would interfere with my Futaba stuff if I was test-running my engines in the back yard or doing a range check on a new plane before going to the field? By the way I have NEVER had any more than a glitch on ANY of my Futaba equipment; EVER! I have an old AM Futaba Conquest (no longer used but still works great) and many other FM to 2.4Ghz systems and they are as reliable as they were since new. I just don't trust anything else... Just my input.

I built one of these awesome biplanes back in 1992 and loved every flight. Wish I never sold it...[:o] I still have the Bluehawk decals somewhere since I never used them. Everyone else flying them put them on the plane so I had to be different.
