Great weekend, fantastic venue & thanks to all involved I just need a spotter with stamina to do two days, so I can take full advantage of both days!

RE: JMA - WHY BOTHER ????????
I will be surprised if you get any constructive response as I have heard many a member ask the same question for many a year now but no one ever acts on it. Even at the AGM the question was dismissed as it was not on the agenda and the only issue they were interested in was the Rookie days and the 2 new aeroplanes they were going to use for the purpose. Getting new members was of more interest than existing ones. Let’s hope people do respond to your question as this would help confirm JMA interest.

RE: ATTN: Yellow Aircraft JET Owners
Here is my recently test flown Hornet (twin) and yes the picture is for real.... The model came out @ 35Lbs dry and has a Merlin 160 Tam's pipe. As you would expect the model fly’s beautifully - I have yet to expand the flight envelop as it is early days but am really looking forward to it.

RE: F15 High Vis Colour scheme
I used this scheme and have to say it always showed up regardless of the sky - you may not think so at first but it really does work (white shows on blue and blue on white and both when its grey or mixed) You may have seen the grey versions around but they also did this blue one, but was dropped as it was too visible. The scheme was called "Attitude deception"

RE: Yellow F-18 wing failure
Thanks Dave - its the VFA-82 Marauders ShowBird scheme used by the CAG, something a little unusual. It will be a few weeks before the first flight, as I need to put the detail on as yet and fit everything back into her then check everything out. Thankfully I made all of the internal bits fit onto removable plates and is easy to put back together and maintain. The whole engine/bypass and pipe can be fitted in 10 mins as I have used a generic framework with bolt on formers – this means I can use any combination of power plant just by changing the mounting plate. It’s just the RC cables and actuator tubing that will take the time to route etc Will post again once flown.

RE: Yellow F-18 wing failure
You are indeed correct and most of us will agree with what you have said. In my case it was pure ignorance and trust that the build was correct - I had no experience of the model to know any different really. I took it on good faith that it was going to be correct (after all it was built as a turbine) - but I was taught a good lesson. Shan't be making that mistake again!!! Anyway I look forward now and can't wait for the first flight of my new one. PS Mine broke up in level flight - but Ii guess the previous flight must have stressed it out some!

RE: Yellow F-18 wing failure
Gents – I read with interest your thread on the spar problem and thought I would respond. I also lost a YA twin Hornet here in the UK at RAF St Athan meet in September last year with exactly the same failure. The finished model weighed 36lbs dry and was powered with a P160. To cut a long story short the wing broke in the same way as in this link and the aircraft was a total loss. I consequently found that the former was a DF one and the bloke I bought the model from did not warn me about this and although I had my suspicions about it, stupidly decided to fly it – which it did for 9 flights without any issues – until the last…………. Having spoken to Charles a number of times about the demised model I decided to start again, as the model was about the best I have flown etc ………I am nearing the end of a new build of the YA Twin Hornet – which I have built myself this time (in just 3 months, currently in the paint booth being made pretty) and have made a number of mods to both the forward and rate formers. I have even strengthened the forward former further by laminating carbon sheet and ply, as have I with the rear one. One further mod was to use 2 of the wing spar clamps at the front in place of the normal 1 – plus longer Ali spars as a result (may not have any further benefit other than making me feel better about the whole thing). All in all this setup looks and feels 1,000,000% better. The new model will be flown with a Jets Munt Merlin 160, which during trials has proved to be fantastic and so responsive!! I will post some pics when it comes out of the paint shop in the next day or so.

JetcatUK service/backup is second to none (Pat on back for Simon P) - Shame about the support from Jetcat Germany (long story, but take it from me is painfull).
