RE: Electrifying Sig Riser 100
fred123 You can use a switch if you like, personal choice, but most just plug the battery into the ESC before flight an unplug after flight. Just make sure the connections are under the canopy hatch. This is so that you are not constantly removing the wing and reinstalling every time you need to change the battery. Are you bolting the wing on or using rubber bands? Got to agree with Lockley. You guys are doing a great job so far. Looking forward to the finish and maidens.

Got 2 of them on the shelf. Complete new in the box with motors. You could go with a brushless set up on this and really maske it fly.

RE: Grob 4 meter Graupner
Not real sure of the flying with this model. Its a Graupner and should be just fine. Build it, fly it and enjoy it. If you don't like, sell it an get something you do like. You could contact Graupner and see what they have to say about it.

RE: Electrifying Sig Riser 100
Fred123, I believe tht the guys that i know just used the stock plywood motor mount (bulkhead) to mount the motor. Just make sure it has some reinforcements to beef it up a little. It will be fine. See if I can find the pictures from the builds.

RE: Dynaflite Butterfly pushrods
Not sure on the kit. I have one stashed away. What do they show on the plans for the kit and build instructions? There are many ways to go on pushrods. Like P. Winters, the music wire with a outer housing is the most effective. The ny-rods have a tendacy to expand and contract with heat. Meaning constant trim adjustments everytime you go fly. Piano wire stays consistant. our you could go with the Sullivan Precision Rod control rod set that is carbon fiber reinforced. Comes with everything in the package to make you connections to the control horn and servo. Stays in place fairly well like the piano wire. Just a matter of what hte plans call for and your building ability with what you are comfortable with. With the Butterfly there is not a whole lot of stress put on the system. tink

I guess it would be to each their own. But why? The conversion is easy enough to do. But why make it complex for a simple easy to fly model. tink

Not on the internet, Unless someone has a copy of it. It is not on the Dynaflight website beacuase the model is still in production. The manuals are for the ones that are out of production. Get in touch with them. More then likely they will charge you for them. Anyone have a copy they could send shd3920?

Pilon_1 Thermaling Slow Sticks. Been there don that. Its a hoot. Sounds like you have a good flying site. CRG, Please do a build thread when you get ready. It has been awhile since mine and would be great to follow along. Will be interesting to see what you decide to do on the fuselage. If you don't need all the extra room for the old style gear, thinking it would be a benefit to lose some of the extra weight in the long run. Matter of choice. Lets see which way you go.

RE: Dynaflite Butterfly conversion???
2826/12 AXI would be a very good choice. Any Idea what the Kv rating is on the motor? 10X6 will work, but I think a 11X6 would be a better choice. Run it and see if the motor and ESC get hot during normal use. The gear that you mention in the first post would work in the smaller gliders under 2 meters.

RE: Dynaflite Butterfly conversion???
Awful small and way under powered for a 100" wing model. Not sure of the Thrustmaster motor. geared or not it is under powered. And if you did use it you would have to add ballast to the nose to get it to balance out. Don't think you would be very happy with the performance. Thrustmaster............from the Great pPlanes web site. Stock Number (Electric Version): GPMG0800 Includes: Thrustmaster 550 motor, switch harness, battery connector, 8x4 nylon prop, aluminum prop adapter, screws and wrenches Requires: 6-7 cell NiCd battery and an extra radio channel Speed 600 sized can motor not a Speed 400. Big difference between the two.

AXI 2820/10 or something there of, 30 to 40 amp esc, 3s 2100mah lipo, 10X6 to 11X6 folding prop. If you go gear drive you can go to a bigger prop. Not really need though. RE: Parkzone Radian?
flag8r, TIA Get one and you won't be disappointed. With all the little things that have popped up with these and the easy fixes, the majority are very happy with the Radian. Read the threads and see what its all about. The guys here sold me on buying one to see what it is all about. The little issues are worth the flying time that this model gives you. Great bang for the buck. Easy to get replacement parts and or fix as you go. MOdel can be ready to fly before the battery is through charging. That simple. I did all the checks and additions on mine and will fly it this weekend. Weather got nice for once for decent flying time, along with no overtime from work. All good. Report to follow. tink

RE: Dodson gliders....... Dodgson Gliders
rcsoar4fun Think you pretty much made your own name for a website for the Dodgson models back up in post #19, when you stated "Would be cool to get a sort of "Third Wind" newsletter going about who is doing what". "Third Wind for Dodgson Models" would make a great place to share much need information for those tht still fly them. You might also check with Shawn to make sure you don't infringe in on anything with legalities. But the idea is great. I remember flying with Bob when I first started into this hobby years ago. Flying down at Ft. Steilicom park and watching him fly the lift in front of the trees, with fog still licking the tree tops with a Camano. And him being the only in the air. Learned alot that first year. Had one of the Orbiters years ago. Now wish I had not sold it off. To watch my mentors fly the Maestro's was even more awe inspiring since back then they were all frinds in the same locale. What a great time. Great thread guys. Keep it coming. Thanks for the brief run down memory lane. Regards, Lyle

Flyingpulgo Could you please tell us about the application of the shark face to your Radian. And do you have a picture of it before the crash shots? Was a question from my grandson. I think he wants one on my Radian. We shall see. I am waiting for the prop blades to get here before flying mine along with a few of the other mods you guys have come up with. Want this thing hassle free at the flying field.

RE: Radian Modifications
Its all good information. Just takes a little time to read through it all. Yeah I have a Radian that I just picked up here a week or two ago. going to do a few of the mods before flying it. You can check around to Hobby-Lobby, Icare, Esprit to find the props and collars. Not really partial to the set screw either in the hub. The set screw works if you put a flat spot on the motor shaft for it to grab on to it. Dremel works great for that. I had to buy one just to see what all the hype was about these and use it as a trainer for my other half. We have fun with the sailplanes and the easier they are to fly the more fun we have. Hope this helps.

Pick one! You have to start somewhere........... Easy star is a good starter model just as the Radian is. Either one would be good for someone just starting in the hobby.

Few modifications to the Radian fixes problems there. The mods the guys make are pretty straight forward and esy to do with a minimum of parts. Overall it is a good flying machine. Not made for hotliner performance but it will fly. I am enjoying mine. You have to start somewhere.
