RE: Mom Hates R/C!! Help!!!
If you keep locking yourself in a bathroom with a computer, she's going to get even more worried about you. Do the savings bit (you'll have to suffer through NiMHs a little longer) and take some of the money you saved and buy your mom some flowers and tell her "Thank you for understanding and supporting my hobby. I love you"...perhaps on a handmade card. Moms eat that up. Also, find out what her hobbies are (she does have hobbies) and either a) buy her something with your money towards it or b) (cheaper option) spend an afternoon with her doing her hobby. That may make you both more appreciative of each other's interests and it's a nice family bonding experience.

RE: London Olympics are fantastic!!
I'd like to be active on this thread since I love the Olympics (even these lesser, sun-based Olympics. Give me the Winter Olympics all day long!) but I'm afraid results will be shared before they are aired here in the Mid-West and I've already had 2 swimming events and 3 soccer games ruined by seeing the results early. So, I'll hop in after the Games.

If you're passing by Muncie, it's probably worth stopping there for a flight and a museum tour. And as the guy above said, if you have to pass through Indy, the Indy Motor Speedway has a fantastic museum if you and/or your family memebers like racing.

RE: JCP commercial should be pulled
Do people still watch commercials? If you've got a DVR (I for one can't live without mine), you can start your show 5 minutes late and just fastforward through the commercials. You never have to watch another one again and risk being offended by something that the average non-RCer will not even give a second thought to. If you aren't in the hobby, like a big chunk of the population, the message you take away from a commercial like that is "Hey, that store is having a sale on shorts this weekend! I can use some shorts!" not "Hey, I'm gonna go find a little helicopter and harrass Mr. Wilson next door!".

RE: Are all RC forum's activity in decline?
ORIGINAL: bigstick60 My biggest problem with this forum and most others is the attitude of some, they are what I call trolls, a person asks a reasonable question and here they come, attitude trolls. And you know who you are because I see it. Same ones over and over #1 complaining about spelling and grammar. hell this is a hobby forum not an English class #2 my stuff is better than yours. who cares I just want some info!!! #3 I am right, I know everything and it must be done my way or you will fail. sorry I don’t know you so stop pounding your chest #4 running certain r/c mfg’s down if someone states he bought such and such items from who ever. Did it ever occur to you that maybe you’re the problem and not the mfg #5 busting someones chops because he ask’s a repeated question and or did not do a proper search. Don’t worry about it maybe someone does want to take the time to help, why should it bother you # 6 a person asks a question and within 4 or 5 replies it goes’ off topic or we have a computer brawl because someone offended another. Stay on topic, if you want to have a brawl take it else where. in my opinion these are some of the problem with all forums
I'm with you on #s 2-6, but I don't believe there is anything wrong with holding adults from developed countries to a basic language standard. We all learned how to spell and compose sentences in school, right? Why do we cast aside our educational standards and experiences when at home and seated at our computers? As for the post ratings; if you can give it a star, you should be able to remove a star. I try to rate excellent posts when I see them, but there are some really bad posts out there that I'd love to rate a -3.

RE: AMA, What are you Thinking?
The VAST majority of surface guys are bashers. They could care less if all the local clubs were closed by the AMA (in this "AMA as All-Mighty" scenario that I'm picking up on in this thread). Even if they were members (and they're probably not) they'd just go find another parking lot or cul-de-sac. IF the AMA came in and usurped ROAR or IFMAR (or whatever ruling body a particular track bends their knee to) and didn't make any grand changes to the race rules and regs, the racers would simply change their "Pay To The Order Of" line over to AMA and keep on racing.

RE: Best brand for Monster trucks?
[:D]Of course you are going to get a lot of "Savage" responses in the HPI forum. The Savage trucks are an excellent choice with great parts support and you won't be disappointed with one, but you should also do some research on the Thunder Tiger MT4G3. It's a well respected basher MT as well with a growing assortment of replacement and aftermarket parts.

RE: Are all RC forum's activity in decline?
ORIGINAL: llindsey1965 the park fliers have destroyed this great hobby , and i knew it would happen i warned everyone when they came out and people quit joining ama and local clubs , flying at schools and parks , and if you post something to negative they pull your post , it is not the electrics they have came a long way , just the guys who get planes and fly them where ever they feel like  , that is what has hurt the hobby,   this is the greatest hobby and a great bunch of guys who fly by the rules and enjoy this hobby  then you have the ones who fly outside the boundary of the rules  like the guy who got arrested for flying thousands of feet high , heck a real plane reported it and this guy posted it on you tube,  anyway just my opinion  you opinions are like a  holes everybodys got one
See, some nice guy (or gal, but let's play the odds and say "guy") buys a plane and wants to fly down at the park or in his (hopefully expansive) back yard because he loves The Hobby of flying model aircraft and that is how he wants to spend his free time and money. He comes here to ask a question to resolve a problem or to expand his knowlege base and he's told that people like him are destroying The Hobby . Why would he ever want to return to this place? What happens when others see him flying down at the soccer fields as a "Renegade" (calling the thousands of non-club pilots Renegades because they aren't in a local club is not far off from the Romans calling anyone that wasn't Roman a "Barbarian", no matter how advanced their own civilization was, and we all know what the Romans did to "Barbarians"...sorry, I ranted a bit there...my bad) and they think The Hobby looks like a grand old time and they want to know how they can fly too. What site does he send them to in order to learn more about The Hobby? RCU, where they will be textually abused? Heck no! They may stumble here by way of their research and maybe they'll start a thread and/or read some existant ones that are along their needs. What happens then? They'll find out that they are (apparently) ruining the purity of The Hobby and the cycle will begin anew...

RE: Are all RC forum's activity in decline?
People come on to these sites looking for help - perhaps they are new to the hobby, perhaps they are new to a particular segment of the hobby - and other users call the things they love garbage, or a degenerating fad. Doesn't make a chap want to stick around this place so they go out and find another site. There is no shortage of smaller forums. This site is moderated to a standard above many of these little guys, but if people get shooed away (for not spending all winter building their plane, or driving an RTR buggy, or asking a LiPo question they didn't know was already asked, or not having an interest in joining a club in their area for any number of reason, or liking Traxxas more than Losi even though they don't know Losi exists yet, etc...) they never learn that this is (arguably) the top R/C site. I copy my posts before I hit "OK" just in case it doesn't want to work. :)

V6 4WD/AWD SUV advice?
Hi there. The Mrs. & I will be moving to the Rockies at the end of the summer and we've been advised to get a AWD (or 4WD) V6 vehicle to drive up there (and since our car is fairly close to death). Since we've got a couple of big pooches and their various totes and toys to haul around, we're looking for SUVs. Does anyone drive a V6 A/4WD SUV? What is it and how do you like it? We'd like to get Everyday-User feedback to go with the "expert" reviews on the major car sites before we make a final decision. Thanks for your help!
ORIGINAL: OldFart1 eddieC - Correct! The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
