RE: deans plug
the only reason to use anything other than a deans ultra is if you are an idiot or have a car smaller than 18th, such as a micro t. the deans ultra fit just fine in my 18t and like someone said, they have less resistance than an equal length piece of wire, this was tested in one of the magazines about a year ago. people normally dont argue about direct soldering motors, the argument is about whether or not it is more efficient to direct solder your battery, and deans plugs have proved that it is not. you can buy deans plugs at any decent hobby shop for about $3. best thing you can do to an rtr in my opinion.

RE: Ultimate Drift rc18t?
i think this is a silly idea in the first place. if you want to drift you should get a touring car, drifting an 18t would require drastic setup changes that would make it a pain in the butt to use it in any other way but to drift, and left face it, the 18t was designed to be in the dirt jumping over stuff not sliding around turns on the street. if you reall insist on drifting one, you dont need a factory kit, you dont need a bl motor. all you need is some stiff springs, heavy shock oil, a STOCK motor, and pvc tires mounted to touring car rims. drifting an 18t with its short wheelbase should not be very challenging, or realistic looking. but it can be done and doesnt require an expensively modded car to do it, in fact addings a brushless motor might even make it harder due to the fact that there is so much power there, power that you will find is not required to drift with the super low friction pvc tires.

rc motorcylce: why are they so hard to find?
a buddy of mine at work is trying to find an electric rc motorcycle, but i have checked every hobby sitre i know and the best i could do was a crappy one from nikko or a gas powered one from thundertiger. i know they exist, so where can i find rc motorcycles, and why isnt there a section for them on this forum? someone who knows about these things please point me in the right direction.

RE: MLST Mamba 6800 or Mamba 8000?
the mamba motor is too small for the mlst, yes it will work, but not as well as a motor like the wraith or a similar one. i think the hyperion motors worked pretty well in the mlst if i remember correctly. i dont know if inverted is still around, but he can give you a ton of reasons why you shouldnt put a mamba in the mlst and can probably do a better job of pointing you in the right direction than me.

RE: which is better, pro-line bow tie or assoc. pins
come to think of it i guess i have used both. i thought the assoc pins were better in really loose conditions whereas the pro-lines were good for like blue groove. i havent run my truck offroad in a while, though. right now its got a 1/10 touring car setup. im not sure how useful me telling you this is though as i never really had a standard place ot test the tires. i just bought the prolines after my assoc ones wore out. im not a racer, even though i do take my truck to the track every once in a while, so i dont really care about how well the tires perform so long as the car is still driveable.

RE: what motor for rs4 micro???
if you want the fastest then it has to be brushless. a brushless kit will run you around 100-150 for the motor and esc. other than that i have heard good things about the baja motor ( i think thats what its called anway).

RE: short mini baja review!
is this thing basically a rtr mini t pro with a buggy body or is it more like in between the original mini t and the mini t pro? i think that it looks pretty cool, i just wish that losi would have just made a mini t kit, i would have bought that instead of my 18t. man all this talk of people getting new minis makes me wish my micro t was here already, lol.

it depends completely on what surface you are going to be racing/bashing on. try em both out and decide for yourself.

RE: Just got my rc18t for Xmas
the sloppy steering is a problem with all rc18ts. there are a few of things you can do to make it better. the first one would be to buy a drag link from www.drivenpro.net, the second is to use a dremel to cut a groove in your servo saver, then you take an extra shock spring and cut off enough to fit all the way around the servo saver and you wrap it around that groove. that will tighten up the servo saver and the steering. to reduce the bump steer just buy some washers from tower hobbies (you might be able to find the right size at a hardware store also) and put them underneath the ball joints that are connected to your front hubs. the combination of those three things will make your 18t handle a lot better, stay in a straight line, and not go all over the place when the terrain gets rough. i havent yet done the servo saver mod to my 18t, but i did notice a big difference after doing the bump steer mod and adding a dp drag link. check out this website (its run by a guy who is sponsored by associated to race the 18t, he might actually have a couple of races at the nationals too, i dont remeber) [link=http://competitionx.com/Support_Pages/18T.html]Competition X[/link]. this page has a lot of useful do-it-yourself tips to improve the 18t and has step by step instructions with pictures for the mods that i described.

RE: Pro pulse, rc18b, or vendetta
there is so much hating on the pro pulse on this forum, i dont understand it. its a good product that is made by an actual hobby company (its made by megatech, not radioshack). the only problem with the propulse is its hard to find replacement parts right now for them because they are still so new. i say give this thing some time to get aftermarket support and it will be able to easily compete with the rc18t. i dont even own a propulse, but i have played with one and i can say that it is much nice than a stock rtr rc18t or mini t, the radio sucks, but what do you expect from a 1/18 rtr? if there were more parts available right now i would say get that, but since there arent i am gonna have to go with the trusty rc18, i have one and its great after you fix the slop in the steering with a dp drag link or similar mod

RE: Racer/Basher!!!
any mini can bash with the right mods, but not all are equal on the track. i have a factory team rc18t and i have never broken a part racing or bashing. throw some monster tires (or street treads depending on what you want to do) and it will be a great basher, but at the track its great. i think getting a racer and then bashing it is better than getting a basher to race. just think of it like trying to race a hpi savage versus a truggy, the truggy still has great suspension travel and can take jumps, but on the track it will positively dominate the regular monster. i hope that sounded right, not really in the best state to be thinking right now.

RE: which shock towers should i get?
they will obviously be weaker than aluminum, but you may not have a problem. i have never broken a single part on my truck and i crash it all the time, although its usually just a massive set of cartwheels after hitting a road reflector at 40mph+, but still.

RE: rc18t factory team help.
i also have a rc18t ft kit and i picked a tekin 6.8k with 2 and 3 cell lipo packs. i use a dynamite vision peak ultra for a charger and it works great. i bought one of the $25 digital servos from b-p-p(also where i got my lipos) and its top notch, no issues at all. overall i am satisfied with the speed of the tekin 6.8, which is the equivalent of a mamba 6800, but i wish i had a little more for bashing and when i take it to the track i think it is a little much. even on a 1/8 scale offroad track i cant top it out and its really hard to find traction.

RE: A review of the MIP Diff cups for the RC18T MT B
yeah, i run lipo and brushless and from everything i have read its just not a good idea to let the diffs slip at all if you are running anything more than a brushed motor. if it works for you then thats all that really matters though. i thought about the three racing cvds, but decided to go with mip instead, i tend to always trust the original.

RE: A review of the MIP Diff cups for the RC18T MT B
i have the mip super diffs and i run them completely locked out as recommened by tony phalen (team associated driver) for use with brushless motors. i have never experienced any issues with them and i really like the extra weight of the steel, helps keep my land rocket a little more planted.

RE: Brushless setup for all mini's
I run a RC18T factory team. i use the tekin 6.8kv system which has a 25 amp esc. i run a 1500mah 2s lipo (20c) and a 1200mah 3s lipo (20c). to the best of my knowledge that truck runs about 45mph with the 3s and 11/60 gearing, with the 2s it does about 35 with 13/60.

try b-p-p.com. they have some really cheap apache chargers that work pretty well. i emailed them and they said they are fine if you just want to charge lipos and nothing else.

RE: Should we seperate 1/16th and 1/18th to their own forums?
i wish there were seperate forums for racers and bashers. i think that for the most part the 1/16 scale vehicles are not really that much bigger than the 1/18 so i see no point in seperating them.

RE: are minis really that fun?
to me i like that i can drop a fraction of what it would take to make nice 1/10th into my rc18t and have it do 45mph flat out, run for 20-30 mins per battery, and break zero parts doing it. to me the brushless technology in micros is much better than what is available for larger scale vehicles. the lipos are great too, a decent lipo for a 1/10th car is like $80, and i have seen them all the way up to like $200 per battery. so yes, they are fun.

RE: Rc18T shock question.
i dont understand how the difference in screws would have anything to do with whether or not you can use the shocks on different vehicles. both use a ball cup system to connect the shocks to the shocks towers and a arms so as long as you have both a philips driver and hex drivers your all set. on a side note though the RC18t shocks are known to leak, ihavent had any problems with my FT ones yet, but i have heard of a lot of people who have.

RE: may be annoying but...witch mini truck?
just go to a hardware store and buy some compression sleeves for the outdrives on your 18mt if it doesnt come with them already. this will help a lot as will shims in the diffs. the next best thing would be to upgrade to MIP diffs (which i have done), but this is not necessary unless you are running brushless power, and even then you can work without em.

RE: x-ray m18(t) (mt)
the thing about xray kits is that the parts are hard to find. since xray is based out of europe and they are relatively new company so they are still becoming big in this country. their kits are amazing, but since parts are hard to find i would be skeptical about buy an offroad kit because you will break things a lot. they are very good racers though, and if you do have easy access to parts then they are sweet.

RE: RC18T
i was going through this exact same process a couple of weeks ago. i ended up getting the tekin 6.8 brushless system (equivalent of mamba 6800) a 2s and 3s lipo, a hds-877 digital servo ($25 at b-p-p.com, best deal imo) i use a standard sized receiver and it looks a little large, but it fits. b-p-p.com is really the best deals out there so i would buy as much stuff from them as possible. the hyperion lipo batts from like 1200mah to 1800mah offer the best fit in the chassis, mine are the 1500mah 2s and the 3s 1200mah and both fit very well. i also recommend grabbing some o rings to fix the servo saver and some shims to fix the bump steer, these are like a $1 mod and are well worth it. oh, and if you decided to use the factory diffs, buy some outdrive sleeves to go over them as they tend to spread. as far as things that you need, those are really the necessities, but there are some really good upgrades that are no too expensive that you should look into. $6 for a rpm bumper, $15 per mip diff, $10 for dp drag link (highly recommended), $20 for a hex screw kit (either rcscrewz or hexcrews kits work well).
