RE: What brand do you prefer that is made in china when it comes to lipo?
My favorite packs out of all of the above are my Revolectrix packs made in Singapore if that counts.

RE: Inboard starting belt options (who makes one that can handle power)
Yes to both, some vacuum cleaners use similar belts as well. If you have a local repair shop you might get lucky and get some used ones for free.

They are sewing machine belts, try a local repair shop for some different ones to try.

RE: marine 550 motor getting hot
Water cooling will really help, there is room on the transom to have two water pick-ups so you can run two lines thru the esc and one for each motor. Then run another exit line out the other side. You could add a Low Voltage Cutoff to protect your lipo's or at least one of those cheap low voltage buzzer alarms and time your runs.

Maybe it's fine then where it is. Without any lead it's about in the middle of the turn fin, at the collet. I'll get her wet this week and see. Thanks!

Sport20 Whiplash COG
This is probably a dumb question but when I check the COG on my Sport 20 Whiplash I need about 3.5oz's at the back of the boat to balance where they recommend. Do you ever add weight to the back? I've only added it to the sponson tips on other boats. Maybe my pipe is too light. [:D] Thanks Brian

RE: FMA Multi Carrying Case
Hey Tom, there are some pretty nice setups there. For your charging leads I think you would be fine charging nimh's but you might run into trouble with lipo's with the balance lead. I can't park my truck at the pond to use it's battery so I have a deep cycle in my starter box to power my charger box. But I just got a tiny little 800w generator brand new from ebay for $25 to use as back up.

RE: FMA Multi Carrying Case
Lots of people make a case that holds the charger and a power supply for charging in the field. Some of them get pretty fancy with custom Pelican cases but you can use something as simple as a small toolbox and make some shelves or dividers to hold accessories or batteries. Here are some [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1493834]Portable charging stations[/link]

RE: Hyperion and Li ion help
Some of the Duralite packs, like the Plus and Sentinal have built in balancing so if it doesn't have a balance lead it's probably built in, the extra lead is for charging without disconnecting the power leads. According to Duralite they can be charged as Li-on or Lipo.

RE: Water in my boat
To stop water that could be coming up the flex shaft ,take a piece of fuel line and slide it half on the stuffing tube and half on the flex shaft up by the collet. See if that helps, and maybe do a pressure test on the water cooling to check for leaks.

RE: Runaway boat
Probably a dumb question but do you have fresh batteries in the transmitter? My Tactic radio doesn't have any kind of low voltage indicator. Has the receiver ever been wet? And as mentioned by doby look closely at the cap if it's even slightly bulged at the top or leaking brown stuff change it out. One other thing is check for cold solder joints on the motor bullet connectors.

RE: Which retrieval system is best?
if I had the cash for a new car topper I'd get something like this and stick my trolling motor on the back of it. It's easy to get in and out of, I have a hard time with a dingy. Most have oars as well and a rack on the back for carrying boats. They are pretty popular for fly-fishing the Bow River here in Calgary. I've been taping the hatch with hockey shin pad tape. I use reverse a lot using it for a resue boat and it's kept it dry. And you can put a piece of Sham-wow in to soak up what does get in.

RE: Villian ex esc help
It should make a difference, maybe drop a pinion size and check the temps after a run. I tried the Monster Maxx motors, I think they were the 19t's, man I dropped 2 gears on the pinion and they still got so hot they melted the wires off the motor! (with water cooling) I've never seen a motor burn up brushes like that either. (I was running 14 nimh cells) I've gone back to stock motors and props now because I'm using it for a rescue boat. But it's sure nice to use my lipo's in it now. I'm using the Turnigy 5000 and 6000mah batts as well.

RE: Villian ex esc help
ORIGINAL: chriz2388 The set up i have is using the stock esc and stock motors i just want to make sure i wont fry the esc by having to big of C rating or to big of mah. Also would it make a difference if i took the stock esc from an e-maxx and used that because i have an extra one.
MAH is just capacity of the battery, it won't affect the esc just longer runtimes. The "C" rating won't hurt it either, you get more punch with a higher rating. But I would get a lipo cutoff to protect you from running the batteries too low. I also added one of those little low-voltage buzzers in case I missed the LVC they are under $5. Can you add your water cooling to the e-maxx esc?

RE: .12 Rigger Kits for CHEAP!
Well I've had a few trials and tribulations with my boat, the worst of which was a bad switch and my boat hitting the rocks at a good clip. But damage was pretty minimal and she was all repaired for round three on Sunday. On the first launch she took off like a rocket now I see what the fuss is about what a blast. Next race she goes in with the .21's. I'm running the Texan pipe at 2 1/2" and Mark's M440 (the 1440 got mangled in the crash) 50% nitro at 4000'. All day I had been clocking other people's boats but of course no one shot mine, next time.

RE: Traxxas Villain EX Best Cheap Battery for Longest Run Time?
I tried it out yesterday, I use it for rescue with pvc arms and it's geared down but after practice I took the arms off and had some fun. You can tell it's lighter, when you back up and swamp the back a bit and then gun it she jumps right out of the water. I always tape the hatch as well just in case. Here's a pic from last weekend rescuing an 1/8 scale nitro boat (from my phone not the greatest) .
