ORIGINAL: carlosam Tommy gallagher...... I wonder what center of gravity of your boat and if the alignment of the engine is zero degrees
Let me see, The boat is 28.5in lenth. It wants to balance at around 35% back from the transom in my case its around 10in. Tha is exaclty where the prop is swinging over the c.g. mark. Since you asked about the angle of the thrust line, i guess

RE: My third airboat
Im glad to report that i also have something very similar brewing as your project! But ofcourse in an electric version this time on a slightly larger scale. This MissTake project has taken me so long to complete it, i guess in the end i decided on a different path and swaped that GP-42 for this 900kv version of the chineese turnigy outrunners. I hope to get it wet soon. I tried it under its own power on my living room floor, seems to have more than enough strenth and im happy[;)] Take care Tom.
ORIGINAL: sportygreg By the time you buy a brushless motor,ESC,gearbox and 3S lipos the cost would be more than a new 40 nitro motor![:-]
Plus, he needs to buy a ton of other stuff for that nitro motor to work. inlcuding fuel.

RE: new project need some advise
i can point u to a couple of places that sell brushless motors and all the other vital electronics! www.hobbycity.com (great reasonably priced electronics, a good way to dive into the world of electric power. www.bphobbies.com(also a good place to shop) the reason why you arent getting any good responses is because all the guys here are running their nitro motors which is typical of them!

RE: FIRST TIMER PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!
the motors which have 3 wires are brushless and use different esc,s and batteries and are expensive.
Not all brushless setups including the lipo pack are all that expensive, its importatnt to know a few good places where one could find reasonably priced electronics. Nick word of advise: If your budget is in decent shape, take the brushless way. Here are a couple of spots where you could find not so expensive parts and electronics: www.bphobbies.com www.unitedhobbies.com Basic brushless setup includes: An outrunner, esc, battery and rx. Take care! Tom.

RE: Boogie Board build contest
ORIGINAL: Mr Cajun Gator With it being winter time and Boogie boards being hard to find, the MABA has added snow boards to the contest. We are also considering to add the foamies to the contest. One local hobby shops is putting together a prize package, once it is all together I will get it up on the site. I do not know yet what place this package will be for yet, nor what all will be in it.
The addition of foamies, as in scratchbuilt depron foamie airboats. I say that would be a great idea, If you guys would allow a scratchbuilt built foamie airboat that would be fantastic, im not able to get a boogie board any time soon but foam i have lots of. I have a perfect contender to be entered, if ofcourse it will be ok with the contest rules. Would it be a an issues if the boogie boards and scracthbuilt fomaie airboats would be judged side by side?

RE: Building the Miss Take to be EP
Yes i am the same guy who had built this boat. And no, sorry i havent got the chance to get it wet, but im workin on it(Dont ask me why it takes so long). But i can say that i have been thinkin of a possible swap, a much stronger axi type of outrunner over my current .40 GP-42, along with a Li-ion pack this makes for a nice and strong electric setup. UH is the answer for a nice and reasonably priced electric power packages. Very nice progress.......[;)] keep up the work, and btw any thoughts on the final color coating/glass cloth maybe?

RE: ice any tips
I have been doing some airboating with my foamy "firetruck" riding on some ice covered hard packed snow by the lake. it runs nice and handles alot better than i thought, but once your up to speed an headin straight you better have some space for it to roam in large circles. I rewound my komodo outrunner from a 7turn to a 4turn 22gauge wire and turned this little boat into a mini racer, running with a 3s 1320mah TP pack along with a castle 25a esc, i can say that this little boat is packing some heat. Right now on to the newer much more improved version that could handle the winter element a little better, let me say this to you: you boat needs to be strong against the hard packed snow or it may brake. Heres a lil vid you decide: My traxxas Tx is faulty right now, giving me limited range to run the boat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idX9cc6VN4s EDIT: forgot te pic

I assume the boogie board can either be glow or electric powered? Right Correct me if im wrong, this contest is based on the looks of the boat, performance or all of the above? I am very interested. EDIT: How about second and third places are there any rewards. Or is it only the first place reward.

RE: Miss Take air driven hydroplane?
ORIGINAL: SFGuy If I were to make the top of the deck flat from the front to back instead of curved at the front would that pose a problem? The bottom would all stay the same. I want to do it like this because the build would be easier and faster.
Im having a hard time trying to understand what are you trying to do! Why would you want to make it flat in the fron? and how would it simplify the build?, it already as simple as is.
