Hey Jake, It's looking great. Sad to see that happen to the wing. Maybe you can cut sections out of the wing sheeting and then remove the twist, secure the wing to the building surface and then re-sheet as required.

Thanks Dave, I guess there is something to be said for being there at the end, and being consistent. If not persistent And yes I do think another such race to start the next season would be fun. Though possibly wet and windy in February in our parts.

But was busy doing various other things that kept me from getting all racers in all classes. Will try again next year. RE: Hey Tommy Remember This Conversation?
As I read the current rules, If you opt for a YS 91, you should have no less that 440 sq in of wing area. A YS 1.10/ 1.15 will require 515 sq in. And the YS 120 will require 550 sq in. So before you go off thinking that you need to push the envelope to be competitive. Remember that my silver FW190 with that big round nose is running in competition with the other gold racers and I have not blurred the lines on it anywhere. I would build one of those 209's for a YS 1.10/1.15 myself. But first I think we should work on a DO-335 scaled for two YS .70s.

RE: Sacramento Area Modelers Tres Amigos Warbird Race July 24th
Yes it really was a great weekend! First off lets have a moment of silence for those airframes lost in the competition. There were more than a few for sure. Lets all remember to say thanks to all those folks that help out with making events like these possible. The folks in the background working in the cages, snack bar lap, counters and all the rest. And thanks to Kimo and his support staff for another great race. Did I hear right in that we had 47 pilots divided amongst the three classes? Jake, thanks again for the company on the run to RC Country on Saturday. You are indeed a brave soul climbing into my little Fiat Spider. And yes, omitting the two peppers from the Salsa was a good improvement. Well done! Speed, you and your family are a great addition to the Saturday night dinner and after dinner banter. Glad you got to go home with a whole plane. Iron Dog, No problem and thanks backatya for the nice shots you got of my FW-190. Sorry for your bad luck with the planes over the weekend, but I think it was just the stars aligned wrong for you. You hung in there and persevered and that was admirable. It was good to see that our friend Marcelo was able to make it. He and Bianca were missed at the dinner. But they did come to compete and both flew in fine style in the Silver Class. Nice job Da Silvas! I still need to separate the wheat from the chaff with my pictures. Once that is done I will upload the lot of them. Maybe we can get one of those pics you shot of my 190 to be used on a plaque for one of the pointy nosed crowd to win sometime. ;) It is kind of a dark thing to look at the 1st place Gold plaque and know that two of the planes in the image were lost in this last race. Ouch!

Freakin Roy, Stay outta my photo site! Here is the link to the images I have uploaded so far. https://picasaweb.google.com/komepu/20110724 I think the raptor in the first series of images was a good omen for me and my Butcher bird! He was feeding on a squirrel as we started the morning test flights and he was just under the path of planes landing on short final. He would stop to take a look at the planes as if he was protecting his meal. [image]https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-eVEHpHHxNYE/Ti1Xae8O7-I/AAAAAAAANGQ/jFh4r29vIdo/s720/IMG_4827.JPG[/image]
ORIGINAL: still4given
ORIGINAL: tdstaf
ORIGINAL: still4given May I ask what class you are planning to race this plane in? Thanks, Terry [/quo This plane was only engineered for sport flying and to be a short kit but could be raced in bronze. As I am not a bronze racer I will build a new one in race configuration with a Y S 1.15 in it for gold.
If is is not a race plane, wouldn't it have been a better fit in the RC Warbird forum? Why put it here in the Scale Racing forum? Seems the guys who sport fly would have seen it sooner in the sport forum. Just a thought. Blessings, Terry
Terry wasn't there when we first discussed this plane at a SAMs Warbird race. But I specifically remember you stating that you were building this plane to be used in racing the first time I met you Tim. This thread absolutely belongs HERE. I suppose Terry, that you'd rather see another thread with one of those Phoenix Strega abominations? [:@] Keep it up Tim. I'll be needing one of those TA's for a YS 1.15. I'll close the cowl flaps though ;) As well as my Kyosho FW-190 is going, I am thinking that 152 will be a rocket. I apologize for nothing. Be offended or don't. That's on you.

RE: Building a Kyosho Spitfire 50 for Gold class
Knowing what I do of the stock construction of the tail surfaces of a Kyosho warbird. I would NOT suggest you build a gold racer without substantial reinforcement of these structures. To not do so is inviting disaster with respect to structural failure based upon the speeds and loads placed on the airframe at gold speeds. ESPECIALLY with the engine you plan to use. If I were spectating the race in which you used that plane, I would be sure to have a very solid object between me and your Spitfire. And I would not take my eyes off that plane. There is NO room for short cuts at these speeds.

RE: Sacramento Area Modelers Race June 12th - Pylonpalooza
Hi Babe, There is a 45 second recorded countdown that is started once all planes for the race are in the air. At zero the official starter pushes a single button that starts the clocks for ALL racers. The racers run the ten laps for a race, and when they cross the line for their final lap, the assigned lap counter goes to the appropriate timing station and pushes the button to stop the clock for the racer they were timing. Each lane has an individual button for the purpose of stopping the clock for that lane. We have removed the individual stop watches from the timers and have simplified their task by making it such that they only have to STOP the timer for their lane. The new electronic timing system we implemented last year has proven to be very accurate and reliable.
