RE: RE:
"IF" you have a Nosen kit of the 310 and not the A&A die-crushed kit of the 310 then you are in the ballpark for $275.+. Most of the kits I have seen over the years are A&A's and they have been going for $220+. Its not the kits nowadays that is expencive its the shipping of the lumberyard!!

RE: Step by Step Trailer Build
My thought too. I hate crawling over planes with the trailer loaded for a days flying! How or where did you get the door? I made tie-down rails on the inside of the walls and anchored at every "stud" Solid enough to hold dirt bikes against the walls on other outings. Yes ,I have a truck but too cheap to buy diesel fuel. Rather run the PT and have gas to burn when I get there!

RE: Step by Step Trailer Build
I had that problem of stuffing planes into a PT Cruser then I found a U-Haul hitch and bought a 5X9 box trailer from Home Depot for $1100 and problems solved Its light enough to pull with the PT (750lbs). Last trip of 1200 miles I got 24-28 mpg @flight speed!! Great for hauling 3 1/4 scales and one 30% and keeps the gas stink outta the car!

From what I see of your kit, you have the Monocoupe

RE: What Kit is this??
My guess to the airplane in question is a Monocoupe 90A. I had a kit several years ago and it was stolen. only thing that I have left are the plans and construction booklet strange! Had them out to plan for a winter build when my storage unit was looted. Model builds up exactly to the dimentions of the Pacific Aeromodel Monocoupe

RE: What Kit is this??
If it says Executive models, then its not an IkonWest kit. Executive models made very few kits, several cubs and Cessna's, Their best one was the Monocoupe 90A 1/4 scale. all parts were machine cut and sanded. Very high quality! Next best thing to laser cut. You ever see one , you wont forget it! The plans, instructions, and photo pack is all I have left of the one I had. They were a "cottage" manufacture in the 70's/80's and their kits were of high quality, their numbers were small!

RE: What was your shortest lived model?
May not count as funny but I still get a chuckle out of it from time to time. I had some contest balsa left over from a project and couldnt see tossing it. Found some plans in a mag for an indoor free flight. Spent what seemd like hours cutting wing ribs. Total wingspan was about 10 inches. Glued all the parts together, covered it with condenser paper, and got it ready to fly. Wound the little bugger up and launched it off the workbench for its glorious tour around the workshop. The prop turned so slow that you could count the revs! I counted 16 revs, when out of nowhere came my cat, making a 6' leap and took it out of the air! One swat and the wounded bird fell to the floor unwinding! He then grabbed it and stomped out of the shop with his trophy firmly in his mouth. Guess it looked like dinner to him. Moments like that are what makes living with pets worth it!

RE: E-Flite TCraft
shouldnt be too hard. I am taking off the motor box and cutting a new solid firewall. Then with libral amounts of epoxy gluing it on the front end. There is room inside to mount a 6oz tank. Total weight is in the ballpark with the motor and battry combo. Decided to go with the 30 fourstroke to haul a set of floats. Will post pictures as I get going!

RE: E-Flite TCraft
Amazing what one finds when ya get to the bottom layers of the workbench! In a corner of the bottom shelf lived an OS 20 four stroke that will now have a home in the Tcraft. Just rough measurements it will fit inside the cowl on its side. Will hope to post a build if I dont just "pound" this bird out! The screaming of a outrunner just wont do this plane justice. Needs the gentle chug of a four stroke in the evening skies!!

E-Flite TCraft
Has anyone taken this T-Craft and gone gas insted of elect? I was cleaning my shop- - you find things that way and came across a box of new 30 four strokes. Seems like the T-Craft would be a likely subject! Now that the price dropped on them from Horizon I would like to give it a try. Miss the good ole days fuel and fly!!

RE: SPEKTRUM BATTERY MELTING
several things to question, Did you use the charger that came with the TX or use another brand? If I remember correctly, Spektrum TX's have a different polarity than Futaba or Hitec. That might have cooked your battery. If you didnt use the wall wart to charge, did you use a fast charger and pump too much into it? Or if you charged it and the peak detection on your charger didnt pick up and let the charger over charge. Not saying that you did anything wrong, just tossing out items that have shown up across my workbench.

RE: New Pacific Aeromodel Clip Wing Monocoupe
I got lucky and got it uncovered direct from Pacific Aeromodels. They had a few come in un-covered a while back with their regular shipment. Just e-mail them direct and ask if and when they are getting a new shipment and could you get one RTC (ready to cover) It was a few bucks cheaper if I remember! We got some relief the other day- - -someone did a rain dance and we got "dumped on"! Will hold for now till the next idiot flips out a lit cig.!

Iv had a blast with it. Getting ready to replace the G26 in it with another "fresh motor" Hope this fall to maiden my other clipped wing. I recovered another Coupe in the colors of the racer "Lil Butch" Things taken a back seat with the forrest fires we are having around here. Not fun when you live in the mountains and you smell smoke and it aint from your barbeque!

they suck- - mine lasted 2 weekends then looked like racing tires from Datona. I replaced them with some Sullivans and have been happy for almost 300 flights.

RE: Best “free plane story (it should have been splinters)
I still have my "Free-Plane" after all these years. Back in the 80's I got busy and built a RCM plans Pacific Ace. Thought that it would be a relaxing 3ch flyer, it is! After a day of flying and everyone was getting ready to go home, I decided to get "one more flight"! on it, up and chugging around and discovered it reacted funny to inputs. Did a fly by to check things out and to my horror there was 4-6 inches of air between the wing and fuze. I did the slowest turn in my life getting the plane headded back to anywhere I could land. Upon touchdown the wing popped loose and I was able to taxi back to the pits . Still had to walk out for the wing, but it was in one piece ready to fly another day! Think that was the last time I trusted good ole #64 rubber bands!!

RE: Who makes the best bandsaw?
I have a 14" 5 speed that Ibought from harbor freight. So far it has not let me down in the cutting department. I also have a Ryobi bench top bandsaw for the fine stuff. Cuts a 4" stack of wing ribs slicker than sliced cheese. Replacement blades are from 1/8" to 1/2" and about $8.oo at Lowes

Jeff, I just use the stock can that came with the G26. It fits inside the cowl with just the exhaust pipes sticking out. Just right for weight since no weiight was added to balance. (Please no comments bout my tidy workbench!)Made a dash panel to make it look right

RE: Boing 747 Heavy????
The term "Heavy" refers to the plane being loaded with freight or passangers, also used is the term "Light"=empty. Just another way of catagorizing planes with out going into fancy dialog. Quick and easy for control or pilots

RE: EXPERIENCED RC PILOT FLYING -TIPS
one little tid-bit that I remember from a guy who taught me many moons ago- - when setting up for a landing with the plane comming at you the low wing gets the stick to level it. Just keeps from thinking opposite in a panic situation

RE: RE:
By lowering the thrust line below the leading edge of the wing you will have trim issues induced by pitch. I did it once on a 310 model to get the engine to "stand up' in the nacel. I just inverted the nacel cowl bowl and thought I done good! Wrong!! Thrust line in the 310's, full size or model is just above the leading edge of the wing. The plane flew with the engine lowered to the bottom of the nacel, but with each throttle change trim was needed to keep it level. That and props became shorter on takeoffs and landings <G> Best way is to go sidewinder on the motors if you are concerned in keeping a clean profile, Cooling on these planes is not an issue as long as you remember to have more air going out of the nacel than going in!

RE: New Top Flite Cessna 182 ARF, what floats will fit?
Mike, I heard somewhere in a land far far away that there is a rule of thumb on deciding what floats to mount on a plane. Something about a 75% rule. Floats are to be 75% of the length of the plane with the step at or before the CG of the plane. Thought I just throw it out there!!

RE: New Pacific Aeromodel Clip Wing Monocoupe
MM-I started to have that weaving problem after over 200 flights and found out that I smacked it down too hard! Discovered that I got too much toe-in with the "smack-down"bent the axles back to a minimal toe-in and problem was solved. Worth a look!!
