Aurora 9
Hello all. My apologies if this is redundent, I have searched RCU and was unable to find the topic I seek. I have recently re-introduced helis into my rc inventory after a couple years. I recently purchased a DX6i to use with the blade msr, msrx, mcpx2, and 120sr, I enjoyed the TX but plan on moving on to larger CPs. I hope I wasn't premature in the fact that I returned the DX6i and purchased a Hitech Aurora 9 (awaiting delivery). My question... will the D9 work with the micros???

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
Hey man, as stated by Toyota... your drive dog should not be positioned IN your strut. When the engine torques (twists it tighter) the cable is pulling your drive dog into the strut, obviously causing it to bind. I am suprised that your cable has not snapped vs. the strut. Purchasing a new strut will not help unless you back off the dog from the end of the strut. You need to give it about 1/8-3/16 of an inch. Below is about 3/16", this is a MVD modded with a Dynamite .32 so I chose to run the gap a little wider to make up for the torque, note the grease on the rudder that had been thrown from the cable.
ORIGINAL: SilentSeven See now that the Aquacraft major engine parts are  NLA.  What is the engine replacement of choice?  CR-V?  TZ?   TZ seems to be a lot more work than the CR-V due the changed exhaust port. I'm still running the Aqua .18 but i'm sure it will need a replacement at some point.....
Dynamite .32 :)

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
ORIGINAL: roughneck793 I need help, My flex shaft broke right at the collet, The flywheel looked like it wasn't so true so pulled it and put it back on, looks true now, Put in a new shaft and it broke the next day at the same spot, what could be causing this
As Toyota said, defintely check the spacing between the dog and strut, when the motor torques up your flex shaft will tighten up (like twisting a towel) due to the torque, if you don't have enough clearance between the dog and strut, the flex cable will bind up to the strut causing the cable to break. I belive the distance should be 3/16" inch, make sure that there is plenty of clean lube on the flex also.

Found an area down here to run is a tributary off of the Potomac called Smallwood State Park. Anyone ever run down in this neck of the woods, almost thinking about putting the rides in storage as I cannot find anyone down in this area... I can't even find a RC shop down here... what's wrong with these people???? hehe

RE: Southern MD boaters?
ORIGINAL: tropheus29 Hey fellas....I live in Hunt Valley too. There are a couple great spots to go to. 1. If you want to run with the club (Baltimore Modelers) we run in Columbia, MD. There was a tune up for the Green Brier Race (Scale Masters-Cancelled) a couple weeks ago. PM me for directions. 2. Lakeside Dr. in Bel Air, MDCorporate Industrial Park with 3 big fountains and a lot of geese crap. You can get real close to the edge and throwing in is a sinch. PM me for directions. 3. There is a long stretch of water by the Walmart in Frederick MD (Monocacy Blvd). It's worth the drive because it is a long drag strip. If you can get it on a calm day, it is sick for high speed passes. Shoot me an email (catmark@live.com) if anyone would like to meet up to run. I will be out this Saturday. I run gassers but it makes know difference to me what you run as long as you have fun.
That sounds great tropheus! I was in Frederick yesterday and I believe it is only about 50 min away. Thanks!

RE: Southern MD boaters?
Sounds great, looks like an hour or two to both areas. Would be great, I am planning on scouting out some lakes down here with google earth. Glad to meet both of you, what do you run. I run a stock miss vegas .18, a modded miss vegas deuce .32, and a tc31 that is still in the works for mods. Pretty much just going for precision and speed right now, no racing yet. Thanks for the responses. I will get in touch with you via pm.

yea man, would be great to try the prather out. I just recently tore all wood out of the tc31 and plasti dipped all electronics in an attempt to drop the box to lighten her up some more. If it works, I will be running without a box on the MVs also. I will probably be at Debbies RC sometime in the next couple days, pm me your phone number. BTW, I hooked up with an old 6.5 which I'm dying to throw into something :)

RE: AQUACRAFT'S NEW MISS VEGAS U-18
ORIGINAL: coyv10 Info needed... I have the duece and I have converted it to the .32 and it runs great. My question is will the stock pipe work with the .32? because the mac pipe is very loud
coy, I would definetly not run the stock pipe if you want performance, try a Macs 2340 (or a 2343 which has a 15degree up-angle) header with a 1328 muffled pipe (not as loud). Start by taking a 1/2 inch off each then cut small increments off until you are happy with the performance. You will need to cut out the wood pipe mount (leave 1/8" on hull floor) and trim a bit of hull (where the cowl sits) to accomodate the larger diameter pipe. I have been messing around with the .32 in a deuce for about 5months now and pretty much have her tuned in. Another good idea is to extend your rudder using 3/8" aft and use one of Toyotatruckin's rudders, I tested out the rudder on the .32 and it pretty much solved spin out issues due to prop walk. As mr dunlop said, add some weight to the sponson, I used one and half sticks (4.5oz) to settle the squirrliness (torque roll) on straights. After some minor piston sleeve porting I ran a 48.3mph run with other boats in the water, once I was able to get the others out of the pond I hit 50+ then lost the ride due to a loose rudder control arm. I happened by this ride, some great work on mods, any suggestions on where to go with her?
ORIGINAL: toyotatruckin Hey bud in the picture the collet on the 32 (red one above) LOOKS like its a hair close to the stuffing tube, it may just be the picture angle
no man.. i run it that way :) Actually, I was still setting up, found it easier to mount the motor then adjust the tube. Used collet to hit correct angle, epoxied the tube, moved the box back, and cut the tube perpendicular to box front for workability. Had to do some work with the Liberty tho.

Hey all, havn't been on the RCu for a while since my MVD .32 parted ways (literally). I have a couple new rides that I have been working on. Hopefully I can get both of them up to the speeds that I had my original 32. I am in the market for a Novarossi piranha to test out also if anyone knows anyone. RE: AQUACRAFT'S NEW MISS VEGAS U-18
is a good move to replace the lower rudder mounting screw with a brass (or even plastic) screw, will make it "break away", the screw will break vs. the mount

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
ORIGINAL: KingofSpeed
ORIGINAL: lomcevac540T The Vegas that TreEsPaSS has don't look like a deuce. It was explained one time like this... The sponson mods were great to get more speed from a boat with less power, they raise the front of the boat, get more air under the hull, and reduce drag. But the original sponsons (trued up) were better for high speeds, when engine power is not a problem.
Yes this is my concern also. The ''duce'' can probably get too high on the nose in speeds over above 50 mph. Then it may want to flip over. My LHS does not have a ''good price'' for the V1, it vill cost me the same as the Duce. It's just a matter of which will go fastest. I want to go ''unlimited'' when it comes to power.
It tis a Deuce.. And yes there are issues with the stability of the boat when it gets up around 45mph. I am testing out weights in the sponsons to keep her down a bit, I saved a blowover today with my neigbors GPS onboard, could have been a bad thing. Actully considering widening the hull by a inch or so, a lot of work but she has met pretty much her top potential. I am ready to go bigger (want to stay hydro), if anyone has good suggestions on hulls :)
