RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Thanks for the quick reply. I also saw the tray in the instructions. Mine has slots in the fuse doublers where it should be, but no tray. Thought I'd ask to be sure. Probably just an oversight but now I have to figure out how to get one into the slots. I placed a call to EF, waiting for a return call.
ORIGINAL: danamania Just had another look at the instructions, rudder servo tray is there.  Also, I just spent some time resetting wing incidence since maiden. The manual says 0.3 deg (+) but that is not good advice.  Suggest 0.5-0.6 deg as others have on this thread.  I maidenened at 0.4 which was still too neutral.  I reset at 0.5 with any measurement error on the (+) side towards 0.6.  Has helped me find the right landing attitude in combination with a spoiler on mix suggested by Joe Lachowski (thanks Joe).  Enjoy setting her up!  Dana
RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
I have finally taken my Vanquish out of the box and started putting it together. Overall is looks very good except for a few wrinkles, which is to be expected. I have a question about the rudder servo mounting. I have looked at all the pics of the fuse interior that have been posted and they all show a ply tray just behind the wing tube for the rudder servo. Mine does not have a tray, the fuse is empty behind the tube. Is there supposed to be one, or do I need to make and install one? I'll give EF a call too and ask. Thanks, Larry in Denver

RE: Curare 60 EP/GP ARF. (Not kidding)
Mark, Larry O here. Never had a Curare, just Tippos. Built a bunch of them and still have the one I flew at the Nats in Lincoln Nebraska. It hasn't been in the air in a few years, but it flew pretty good after all these years. Mike, I've been talking to Mark Radcliff in the TOC Laser thread. He is working on an "E" conversion of the one he flew at the '82 TOC. I have the same one and I'm going t finish it as an "E" plane too. Anyway, Mark said he is planning to bring it to the Classic Pattern Event in May in Chicago. Are you planning to attend that one? Wish I could get there, sounds like old home week.

RE: 1980 TOC Laser 200 by Ulery
Dave, Your Laser looks great, nice job. At 13-1/2lbs your Integral setup should be good. I just finished a 78" Extreme Flight Extra 300 that weighs 12-1/2lbs and with a Scorpion 5525-225 putting out 3000 watts, it has plenty of power. Mark, Thanks for the info, I really like your choice of the Rimfire 50cc, it looks like a good match for the bigger Laser. I think your move to 12s will make a big difference. It will lower the peak amps, but I think you still need the CC ICE 120HV to handle it and the motor specs call for a 120 ESC. Also, look to a bigger prop, either 24/10 or 26/10. Electrics like bigger props, a hard lesson I had to learn when I switched to "E". Not sure what you flying style is, but another lesson I had to learn was throttle management. If your setup has over 200 watts per pound, you should be flying at 1/2 to 2/3 throttle most of the time. Very different from the old nitro days where we were full throttle from takeoff to landing. That will lower the battery usage and extend your flight times dramatically. I was talking with some pretty smart electric guys at dinner last night and they think 12s, 5800mah batteries should be good for nearly 10 minutes if you are manage the throttle. Some food for thought. I'll be looking forward to hearing about your experience once you get to try it.

RE: 1980 TOC Laser 200 by Ulery
Thanks mark, The old baby looks good. I was at the '82 TOC and saw you fly it, Larry Ott here. I was hoping to get an invite that year, but I crashed before the Masters and couldn't get the backup going well enough to place in the top 10. I bought a Tartan Twin for mine then sold it when I put the plane in storage. I just pulled it out of mothballs a few weeks ago and dusted it off

RE: 1980 TOC Laser 200 by Ulery
I just found this thread and was wondering if anyone has the 1981 Ulery Laser 200? I just pulled out the one I started building back in the early '80s. It is bigger than the 1980 version at 98.25 inch wing span and 1615 sq. inches. The plans are dated January 19, 1981. The wing has foam ribs and was built for me by Wayne. I built the fuse and tail from the plans. I also have a glass cowl, wheel pants, aluminum gear and a canopy. Since I switched to all E-power last year, I am converting this one to "E" also. I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, just wanted to share what I'm working on. Larry in Denver

Team losi XXX T ?? do you have one??
dan1220, I have a xxxt Matt Francis version and it is a great truck. Having said that, the one weak spot I have found, and others seem to concur, is the front bulkhead. We have stripped one of the screws out of two bulkheads in two months of practice and racing. The truck has taken quite a few hard landings on the track we race on so maybe its to be expected. I am going to try drilling the screw hole that is stripping out clear through the bulkhead and putting a lock nut on a longer screw to see if that cures the problem. Any one else have any ideas?

Who wants a Stylus "10" from Airtronics?
Jeff, Airtronics has been very quiet about a new Stylus. It has been asked several times on the Airtronics list and I have not seen an answer from anyone with the authority to say for real. A quick look around would seem to indicate that 8 channels is not enough for many types of models. Jets in particular. A friend of mine was interested in the Stylus until he started listing the functions for his new jet. 1 throttle 2 left aileron 3 elevator 4 rudder 5 gear 6 engine mixture 7 right aileron 8 flaps 9 brakes 10 2nd gear channel 11 2nd elevator channel I would think scale could use more channels too. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with my Stylus and so is my son. But, some day we might have a need the extra channels.

Hitec Service is Great
Hi all, I just want to relate my experience with the Hitec Service department. I saw the notice posted here about the offer to Re-Program the Hitec servo programmer and decided to send mine in. About the same time I mid-aired and crashed one of my combat planes with a Hitec flight pack in it. The RX case was slightly damaged and the crystal was toast. I expected to pay for the damage, it was my fault, but Hitec replaced the case, the crystal and the antenna FREE of charge. They marked it as warranty repairs. This is service above and beyond the call. I currently have 7 Hitec RXs and over 30 servos, a mixture of std and digital and I have not had any failures so far. Knocking on wood . With this kind of service they will continue to get my business in the future.

Dick Hanson "We have done 3 prototypes now - and all the fliers who have tried em agree- They outperform any of the current stuff Try it -it really works." Any chance you will be offering a kit or plans with foam cores? I would be very interested in pursuing this approach. Thanks for sharing you innovations.

Can You Learn How To 3d On The Great Planes Flight Simulator?
Sport_Pilot "I don't own a R/C flight simulator because I fly mode 1." Not sure what you mean, I also fly mode 1 and I bought the mode 1 TX with G2. "I would not waste the wear and tear of my transmitter to use on a computer game." I do because I don't want to lose the feel for my REAL TX when I am flying the sim. I find it is a great way to practice when I can't go to the field. "And if I did I surely would not remove the crystal," Not sure about this either, I don't remove my crystal to use it with the sim and I don't have to turn my TX on either. Take another look, you might find it is a worthwhile investment.

Moving G2 to new computer
Mayur, I got it connected last night and it is incredible. I turned the graphics engine up all the way and it has no problem keeping up with the frame rate. I also got the RCJoy interface from LEW Engineering. I use it to connect my Airtronics Stylus to G2 and it works great too. If you want to use your "flying" TX for G2, I highly recommend it. Really enjoying G2.

Moving G2 to new computer
Hi all, I just bought a new computer and need to load G2 on it. I have looked around and cannot find info on the procedure for doing this. I seem to recall that I need to un-register the computer it is on now first, then load and register it on the new one. I'm really excited about the new computer, it is a P4 2.4ghz with 512mg ram, 533 fsb and a G-Force 4 4600 with 128MB on board. It should really FLY (pun intended). Can someone help me out? Thanks,

Stylus vs. ??
WWIIflyer, The Stylus is a great TX, look at the specs in the 1st post of this thread. The only negatives are that its 8 channels and only 4 model memories, an add-on card gives 50 memories. 8 channels is a problem for jets and other special craft but not for the majority of flyer's. I run two aileron and two elevator servos, on separate channels, all the time and still have rudder, engine

.91 FX Props
AnnMarie, First I want to thank you for being here to help all of us when we need it. I hope you won't get tired of listening to the few people that are always complaining and bashing products. The rest of us appreciate what you and other mfg. reps are doing. I have been running a .91FX with a Jett In-Cowl muffler on my Aeorworks 60/90 Edge 540T. I have not had good luck with it. I live in Denver and am fortunate to be able to get advice from Rocco at Aeroworks. He is using the same engine/muffler combination and his Edge and it runs great. Mine had about 30 flights when it died and at most 6-7 of them ended with the engine running at landing. During the last 1/2 dozen flights, the engine ran strong on the ground and through half the flight and then went very rich finally dying. My question is what prop should be used on this engine. The manual recommends a 15/8 for sport and 13/11 to 13 or a 14/10 to 11 for aerobatics. Rocco is using a 15-6 with great performance so I choose the to use the same prop. Last week I read on the OS website that the .91 is often overproped and should be run with a 13-8 or 13-9. I lost my Edge trying to land it deadstick downwind. What is the correct prop? Thanks for your support.
