RE: Sig Hog Bipe
WCB & SeamusG - I was nervous as I've never flown a biplane before let alone maidened one but she is a nice flyer for sure: Great job on that hog by the way SeamusG- My pilot does make the plane look complete - I've had ARF's, kits and scratch builts and it has been more " exciting" to fly a kit or scratch built by far!! RE: Sig Hog Bipe
Maiden the hog last night. [:D] It is a great flyer. I have to put a little more weight in the front end - there is 3oz up front now.Probably needs @ 1/2 oz. It's not so much tail heavy as I believe the top wing might not be at 0 degree incidence. Landed beautifully and the Saito 1.00 pulls her along nicely. First time maidening and flying a bipe. Loved it!! [8D]

Sig Hog Bipe
Hello All! [:)] I decided in late March to build a Sig Hog Bipe Kit that I've had for a couple years now and am very pleased with how she came out! Covered with Sig Koverall and painted it using Behr latex paint and went over it with a coat of high gloss polyeuathane. Put in a Saito 1.00 for power and only have to finish up the final control surface connections to the servos. [;)] Here a couple of pics. I will post the maiden flight report - only if it's a good one mind you[8D] Lets keep building and flying !!

Deerslayer, Glad to hear things worked out for you and RCM. I've purchased about 6-7 plans over the past 5 years from RCM and have found them to be very accomandating. I've also been very happy with the quality of the drawings. Goodluck with your build. [:)]

RE: Twin Trainer
Siddus74.... I actually did enjoy flying the airplane...[:)]as a matter of fact this Wednesday afternoon is the day I plan on taking her up again.... The .25's are perfect for this plane....at @ 9800 rpm each at full throttle there is power to spare.....Once I got 3 mistakes high I throttled back to @ 1/2 and thought the speed to be scale like I don't think .15's will have the power in reserve to keep things out of the weeds....[8|] This plane flys well....you just have to be on the sticks the whole time when taking off and landing (much like a bipe)....I found the rudder to be very responsive even at low speed..[8D] You've come this far....finish her up when you find the time and take her up...... It was nice to share this link with someone that has the same aircraft....Good luck...... [:)]

RE: Twin Trainer
I managed to maiden the Twin Trainer this past Saturday....[sm=72_72.gif] Once I got both OS .25's running within 200 rpm of each other I taxied around and found it ground handles quite well I then refuelled the airplane...checked everything to make sure nothing came loose during the engine run-up and taxing... Then it was maiden time...[8|] The first attempt at take-off resulted in the plane very slowly nosing over....[:'(] this isn't really a problem as the engines are not in danger of stricking the ground. Once the nose-over situation was rectified...I made sure to keep a little back pressure on the elevator....The tail comes up right away and after I was sure there was enough airspeed I slowly raised her up.... It took about 3 clicks of down elevator and 3 clicks right of aileron trim to keep her tracking straight... I gave her about three circuits and then did a "practice" landing attempt....[8|] With the throttle at about 1/2 she desends slowly....but with its relativity small wing cord it needs some speed to land....I know this because I cut the throttles a little early and it came down faster than anticipated...which resulted in a hop, skip and a backflop....no damage (except my ego)....[&o] As my nerves couldn't take another flight and the wind was picking up it was decided to go home with my airplane in one piece. Over all this plane was fun to build and fly...Now it's on to the next build!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![>:]

Fairey Junior
Well it feels like building season is fast approaching so I thought I would beat the rush and get an early start. [;)] The plane of choice for this season is a Fairey Junior (1/4 Scale). Purchased plans from RCM a couple years back. Designed by, Dennis Tapsfield, 80" span, 1420 sq. in., .90-1.20, 4 ch., built-up balsa, plywood, and hardwood The Fairey Junior first hit the seen in 1948. http://www.tipsy-histories.com/site/OO-ULA.htm A couple of pics to show progess so far....The wing chord is 18" [X(]

RE: covering with koverall or equiv
This is a GREAT thread....I finished a scatch build twin trainer a couple months ago and used Sig Koverall.....I used Stix It with no problems..... Sealed the fabric with Nitrate Dope - mixed in a little baby powder ( applied 2 coats - lightly sanded between coats) Set aside for 3 weeks to off-gas.....primed with latex primer (light coat & light sand)....painted with Behr flat latex paint (2 coats - lightly sanded after 1st coat) Set aside for 4 weeks to off-gas....sealed with semi-gloss polyurethane (spray can) Latex primer & paint applied with spray gun set to 55 psi...I put a small shot off windsheild washer fluid in paint until it had a milky consistancy Very big Koveral fan....[;)] http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7274380/mpage_2/tm.htm

Murphey, I am very close to a maiden....unfortunetly, work & life are taking the front seat right now [:'(] I have made a mould for the cowls and need to go over the airplane with one more "dusting" of paint.... Mount the engines - balance the plane and she is ready for air.....[8|] The compartment for the rudder and tail wheel linkage is tight but managable...I hate to put a hatch in but I think it's a necessary evil [:@] I plan on making a vid of the first flight....[8D] Looking forward to seeing some progress pic
