Volcano cheap a%% spur gear fix
Well I know alot of people have been cmplaining about the cheap spur gears on redcats. Well I have now stripped my 3rd. I have been pretty unsatisfied about my volcano have owned it for 3 months and really have not yet been able to take it out and drive it something always breaking and after doing some upgrades I have not wanted to trash it (just yet that is) But I have found some intresting things out. As far as aluminum upgrades you can go with HPI mt2 header, muffler,C-hubs and front turn knuckles(you need mt2 bearings). It seems that redcat is a HPI knock off. I was at my local hobby store and the guy there was trying to sell me the mt2 ss18 kit after looking at it closely I noticed that it has the same chassis as the volcano. So my next thing I am going to do which I believe should work same motor same chassis ect I am going to get the mt2 tranny and try installing it inplace of the junk that Redcat puts out. I will keep you posted on if it works. Also if anyone out there has noticed what I noticed please let me know.

RE: Redcat Trucks
I have a Volcano STX and I had the same problem with my steering. I dont think it has any thing to do with the remote or servos. Off road mine wouldnt turn with a damn but on the street it turned fine. I took it up to my locale hobby shop and they looked at it and said the the design for the steering servo saver was junk under hardly any load the servo saver shaft would seperate. So after talking with them I glued the shaft together disabling the servo saver and bought a servo saver that actually went on the servo. And sure enough that solved the problem. Of course as soon as I got that fix the damn spur gear stripped out on me. So now I am going to the hobby shop to try and match up one that isnt plastic. For everyones information: I have noticed that the volcano frame is very similar to the older savage I think it is the savage X and there are alot of interchangable part from HPI that I have used one my volcano something to look into went repairing, upgrading ect. and some of the part are alot cheaper than what Redcat sells them for.
